I've had 3 friends who have had to clear out their Mom's house recently, due to selling the houses, and much of it ended up at their homes or in storage while they attempt to go through it box by box. Completely understandable as to why you have been out of circulation for awhile. Keep plugging away at the piles.

I attacked my laundry, as well as putting away my spring/summer clothes and taking out some of the fall/winter clothes. Kept a few short sleeved tops out just in case we do get some warm spells, which have been known to happen, and didn't bring out the really heavy sweaters just yet, but at least now I have more to wear on those chilly days.

Glad things are working out with MIL. Big change for all of you.

My big change is working FT. I am learning tons of new things, have rearranged my bedtime and wKe up time, took on the fall 5% challenge that started just after the job did.

I am having to think ahead about meals, laundry, shopping, what errands to do on the way home, etc. AN iPad came with the job, so I'm learning that, too.

AAPT? I will be coming home to a neat house ready for a meeting tonight, and leftovers for dinner.

Oh, I am sure that your MIL is so much better off staying with you than being in a nursing home. I think that living with family AND dogs will help elderly people to stay healthy longer and enjoy their days more.

Keep it simple.

Thank you for all of your kind words. Yesterday we went to church and my husband and I have been able to keep up our social engagements and were out last night. I said to a friend, its not as bad as a nursing home. We would have to go over there everyday and at least, now she is here and we just have to walk back to her room to get something, not across town. ANd the dogs love her! Carol

I have more clear surfaces at the end of the day than I did at the beginning.

I can imagine that it's hard to deal with all of that! Read part of what you wrote about it in your blog.
It must be a sort of grieving process for you to have to rearrange so much of your life situations, and it must be a form of grieving for your MIL also....
I am glad to hear you feel you will manage. I hope that after some time, it will become more of a routine.

Keep it simple.

Your husband will love you forever for being good to his mom ! I lived next door to my mother n law for 15 years and she didn't like me at all because i was 15 years younger than my husband and his 3 rd wife ! I done good for evil and before she died she didn't want no one in her hospital room but me and told me she was sorry the way she treated me . It's easy to be good to those who are good to you but the real test is when someone treats you bad . Hope this will be a good life for her in her last years and you to . She might outlive you by some years. If we live we would want someone be good to us to. GOD BLESS YOU FOR YOUR WITNESS OF LOVE TO HER AND YOUR HUSBAND ! emoticon

The Lord is my strength and i know i can do better with the Lords help. The Lord laid it on my heart to start a team called GOD ANSWERS PRAYER AND I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE ANYBODY THAT WANTS HELP TO LOSE THEIR WEIGHT TO JOIN . I KNOW I CAN'T DO THIS WITHOUT THE LORDS HELP !

I've definitely been remiss in posting. Been busy. We moved my 93 year old mother-in-law into our home on Monday and I've attacked so many piles of stuff I've lost count. Try moving a 1 bedroom apartment full of stuff into a 4 bedroom home that is already full of stuff. And she doesn't want to get rid of anything. So I try to pitch it when she isn't looking and then she asks for it. Case in point. We brought back a box full of shoes. She had to try on each and every one of them before she would let it go. She only has one pair of feet and wears a selection of one or two different shoes a week so why do we keep 8 or more pairs. She only goes to church with us to get out of the house. I had to clean and dump a lot of my own stuff before I could even think about moving hers in. So yesterday, we finally finished emptying out her apartment and it is all in the middle of our garage. I will have to move it out of there today. Another thing I find myself doing is cooking a lot more meals. I knew this task would fall to me. We went out a lot but now I will have to make sure I have something for her to eat. We'll manage. I've been blogging about the move this past week if you are interested in reading about it. Carol
