Sorry BeMe - somehow I thought it was the earlier one - not her revised version - no more beets, only blackberries.

I haven't seen other vids about truly natural makeup.

silly goose! Its the same one I posted emoticon I love it though. I wonder if there are other tips like this out there for makeup. Vegan makeup still has chemicals in it and I one day want to be free of all of that.

I'm going to start keeping vinegar in the bathroom. I'll try it again for conditioner. And now I'll also try it for deodorant.

Thanx also BeMe for the too about cheap conditioners - if the vinegar isn't effective.

Now, if it does work, how do I come out with my hair smelling like KNYERUS mango hair? Maybe vinegar first, then mango.

What a cool thread.

My hair is super curly too, it also tends to get dry easily, but ever sense I stopped using hair brushes ( I use my fingers while my hair is wet) my hair is doing much much better and water only method shockingly works. I have spend thousands of dollars on hair products before, I used to love curly girl line, it was super expensive, but I felt like my hair needed it,.. It is such a relieve to no longer be a slave to those hobbits..

Have any of you tries chamomile tea on your hair?

My children are mixed so there hair is very curly and kinky and what works for them is the conditioner only method. You have to use really cheap conditioner like suave or VO5. Their hair is always beautiful and clean and the curls are great!

I have heard of using vinegar as conditioner but that didn't seem to work for me either? Henna does make my hair very soft though!

Oh I have also used apple cider vinegar as deodorant and that worked fine as well as coconut oil. I used to use one of those deodorant stones and that worked ok too but just as well as acv.

I find I usually don't need deodorant when I'm 811.

I love that story about you and your grandmother. I can just picture it. I've used apple cider vinegar. I wasn't as clever as your grandmother. I found it very cold. But boy, even cold and straight out of the bottle, it sure made my hair soft and manageable.

As to the "No Poo" - only water - that has just been terrible for me. My hair is so kinky curly and full of knots. If anyone has a clever solution for hair like mine, then I'd love to hear a solution. I don't want to use all those products on my hair either.

BeMe, I actually have stopped using shampoos last year and have been using just water. I have a leftover vanilla veggie based soap bar that I still use few times a week, mostly for when I shave underarms.. haven't found anything else to substitute that with. I also still use cucumber aluminum free deodorant for when I have to go somewhere for a long time. But mostly I get away with 1-2 showers a day.

When I was little my grandmother used a little bit of vinegar on a whole pot of water and rinsed my hair with it. It was always super soft and shiny afterwards. I haven't tried it yet, cause I don't keep vinegar at home, but I might pick some up and try it out.

So beautiful sounding. I hope you know how grateful we are to you for all this fascinating research!

So thought provoking too.

Makes me wonder what other things we take for granted in our lives are relatively new.

Oh nice, I love this stuff. Well, Megan Elizabeth uses blackberries for lip stain and used to use beets as well but found the color wasn't as flattering for her. Here is the link

I know that you can give yourself mild skin peel by using a papaya cut in half and rubbing it on your face and then washing it off about fifteen minutes later.

You can do the same with the inside peel of a grapefruit but its more gentle.

Its not vegan but I wash my face with honey and I heard you can wash your hair with it too!

You can use coconut oil as a moisturizer and mix it with almond pulp for a body scrub.

cucumbers and acocado blended together make a great face mask.

I dye my hair with henna and am going to use henna and indigo next time to get brunette

I have heard of people no 'pooing and just washing their hair with water every day but I haven't reached that point yet lol. I tried washing it with water and baking soda but that didn't work for me either.

I would like to know more natural makeup ideas even though I don't really wear any but it would be fun for special occasions.

Did you know that shampoo wasn't created till 1906? I didn't either, so my natural curiosity got me investigating what did our ancestors used for thousand of years?
So before shampoo there were natural soaps created, but prior to that people used fruits, veggies and herbs for their personal hygiene.
So I went to research this further and found out that woman in tropical tribes used to wash their hair with mango. I had some peels left, so I blended those up with water and washed my hair with it. I didn't notice difference in the way it felt or looked, BUT my hair smells DELICIOUS and that smell makes me feel super sexy. So I am pretty certain it was used as a perfume more than cleanser. Just like rose water was used in eastern Europe.

This topic is for natural beauty recipes, let's keep it going!
