I was thinking about this today because for the last 4 years I've walked to support the Alzheimer's Association and I know they have walks all over CA. I do the one in Sacramento and it's really well run.
There's no entry fee
You can create walker teams and they give you the site to raise money
When you raise $100 you get a t-shirt
It's only a 5k and most people walk so there's no pressure
I do it because my Grandma died of the disease and I spent the last 2 years of her life taking care of her day to day needs. It's a terrible disease and I'm reminded that even if I'm healthy in body but lose my mind it's a pretty poor quality of life.
Anywho, thought I'd throw it out there for all my CA peeps. You can check for local walks here: http://www.alz.org/walk/
