9/25,26 Oh, arghhh, missed the last couple of days. Went to a karate, kickboxing, knife defense course. Was the oldest lady there by decades. Didn't do so badly. Was one of the oldest overall. Still standing at the end. Yeah! 'Twas a wonderful challenge overall. I came away with some new habits. Good ones. Everyday was a different, fun adventure! Leader! Dianne

Day 20, checking in. Well I definitely am going to continue my positive goals by checking in daily with my Spark page. This has been a really good experience, being a part of a team challenge, My mind-set is strong to stay on course and yes I would like to find another challenge to keep going. I didn't journal much but I enjoyed writing posts and reading team members posts for inspiration.

I enjoyed the resistance bands also, I use them every day a bit. I liked the entire challenge, and I am still writing in the journal most days. I am at a spot where I just dont seem to drop pounds, although I know it is a hump I will get over. I see lots of changes in the way my clothes fit me, My back is losing the bulges, and I feel good. and that is what it is all about.

Ahoy me matey's! Been a rewarding voyage with me sailors. Our final day is tomorrow, where we hoist the sails and swiftly glide through the ocean waters to new beginnings..WooT!
Are you ready got today's Catchin A wave Challenge?
Today's Challenge: Right here and now share with your team how your going to continue your positive goals. How you felt when you jotted down good thoughts daily in your journal. Will you find another team challenge towards a better you...Lastly has your new goals you worked on made a new YOU!
Using a resistance band is a great way to strengthen and tone your muscles without spending a lot of money. Since they're portable and lightweight, resistance "tubes" are also perfect for travelers who want to get fit while on vacation or on the road for business.
Whenever you're in conflict with someone, there is one factor that can make the difference between damaging your relationship and deepening it. That factor is attitude.

On deck... Watched video, did stretching video, added a cardio video from exercise tv.Also an upper body training with resistance bands. I think, because, I constantly am demonstrating and training the same moves in karate, my body had gotten very efficient and is not as challenged as might be. The constant switch up in exercises has been very good, I think. No weight loss this week, but changes in my body and the way my clothes fit. I'll take that! I'm off to do the rest of the challenge...

Ok on board, and loved the video that little girl is so good she is scary, glad she is not my responsibility. I took the test, and did quite well, not perfect but good. The exercises I did and will do them again in the morning so I can get the full effect. I tried that sun dried tomatoes, garlic and chicken, it was great, she suggested thickening the sauce with wondra, I did not, but will next time, I made it last week and it was great, the garlic cloves were so good, only thing I did was use the entire can of chicken stock, and I think I put in too much, it said half way u the sides of the chicken and I put a bit more in, you know waste not want not, well actually not iin all cases. I am doing good on my eating and exercise, so hopefuly I will have a positive number on the 25th, I can not believe this can be over also. It has been fun,

9/23 On deck... Lovely to hear Sarah give the good advice to preserve the voice; too many get pushed too far too fast.
Enjoyed the crunch workout; am enjoying all the variety. The quiz was interesting; I did better than I expected. Dianne

~~Hey Matey's~~ How was your workout yesterday? Did you feel rejuvenated? Woot!
Congrats ~~~Catchin A Wave Sailors~~~~ You've been pounding the sand & eating healthier. On our last session on the 25th of September is where we celebrate your final challenge. The 26th is Catchin A Wave party time. Yip! Yip!
I was a little fitness minded besides our challenge I got out the Wii and did 1,000 steps.
Length: 15 minutes Equipment: Body weight, mat (optional, for cushioning) Type of Workout: Strength training (toning) & flexibility Muscles Worked: Core (abs, obliques, hips, lower back)
Sometimes in life's journeys, we have to go through trials and tribulations to reach a happy ending. Is the outcome worth the troubles that come with it? You have to decide that for yourself. A positive outlook can certainly make it seem that way. Sometimes, reaching goals demands a lot of hard work. Are you willing to put up with the rain?

Checking in day 17! Three pounds have been lost during this weight loss challenge but even better my weight loss mindset has been much stronger than before. I didn't get to Zumba today but I got a walk in. Tomorrow back to the bootcamp workout and I'll try the Zumba. Thanks to all the members of our group for hanging in there for these 17 days. We have four more to go! Sort of makes me sad that it will be ending. Hopefully we can get in a new challenge together and that includes Rory who has been the best diet challenge captain ever!

Checking in. Our day without orders came on a good day as I had a migraine and could not eat or exercise, barely could keep hydrated. Took an easy day to recoup from yesterday. Did yoga and stretching. I will try zumba tomorrow. Looks fun to me, love dance.

Day 16 check in. I felt fine with no new orders, was able to keep straight on course. My biggest challenge has been to change my mind-set to not indulge 'whenever I feel like it'. Been working on my accountability. I think giving up chocolates was my first accomplishment of the challenge, the next big one will be controlling myself when there is a large amounts of food offered to me (at family events-where it is encouraged to eat a lot.) But in the meantime keeping the ship straight on the right path, right now feeling glad.

Ahoy Matey's! Did you enjoy your free pass off the ship? I remained at the helm passing the time and glancing at the map for a different direction. Time to resume our duties Matey's. All hands on deck for our last trip out to the open sea.
Tuesday's Challenge: Give a goodie to your team mate and tell them in the message how important this challenge is to you. Then return and post right here how you felt when there was a change in the course of the ship with new orders and no new incentives.
Posative Thought: Have you ever looked back on an event in your life and thought: “Why did I let that person make me doubt myself?” Learn from it & correct it. Embrace those who believe in you! TooT!

Day 15 check in. Six more days. Three pounds down. Didn't check in yesterday -not a good idea -I need to check in every day -helps me with accountability. When this challenge is over, I hope I can find another one to start-I have liked this one a lot. Maybe get to stay with the same group of people?:)
Opphs sorry I seemed to have pressed post message twice!!

I listened to the video, Abba is one of my favorites. and I did the Tahitian dances, terrible, but I did move the body, and that is the idea. I have really been trying to eat healthy, get the right amount of sleep and do all the right things so, I will see some progress. I am looking forward to what tomorrow brings,

9/19 On deck, but running off to church... Loved ABBA; brought back memories. Had so much fun with the Tahitian cardio I added parts 2 and 3! Needed it, Pastor's baby shower today; I had a small piece of cake and some nuts. Dianne

Hi checking in, I watched the pep talk, and even tried the dance steps, I will do it all the way this evening, when I have no audience in here, and more room, I lost 1 pound, no inches, but I am really working my abs this week and so, maybe I will see some progress this week, I sure hope so. I am retired, looking for something I can volunteer to without requiring me to be there like a full time job, I want something more flexible, like maybe a volunteer substitute if there is such a thing. I am kept busy here at home, inside and out, I go to a gym several times a week, aerobics class and swimming takes up the whole day. I have learned so much from Sparks, and my habits are rubbing off on my DH, he is eating better as well as dropping a few pounds, in fact he has lost more than me without really trying, and he feels so much better physically, me too, I am off all but one small medication since I have been with Sparks. I have a few more pounds to lose again, and then this time I will maintain, I had only gained 3 pounds but that was in a two week period while I was on vacation. I cant do that again. But the bread and cheese was so good. I did not eat in front of the television last evening, but I did eat my grapes in front of my computer, We never eat meals in front of the television, very bad habits to set for your children, although after our son left home, we did get in the habit of eating quite a bit in front of the television. But when I started Sparks, that stopped, I realized that was one of the first things that had to go. It is hard to be accountable to what you eat, when it is completely mindless eating.

Hi, checkin in day 13. How time flies! I lost 2 pounds, but it had said 3 a couple of days ago. Well it's 2 at weigh in this morning. I am very proud of myself right now for my determination in my weight loss (reprograming my weight loss mindset) and for the other things I am working on improving in my life. Also very happy with the inspiring individuals in our wonderful little support group, you all make a difference -THANK YOU everyone!!

Saturday 9/18/10 on deck check in: Lost 2.2 lbs and 3.75 inches in the last two weeks. I think that is a great success.
Bragging has never been my strong suit, this challenge is very difficult for me, so here it goes: In spite of my injury, I was able to work on my two sisters (I am a Massage Therapist) and help them through their injuries. After working on someone, I feel a sense of appreciation and gratitude for being able to help them. Since I was little, I have been the family masseuse. Always had the knack of finding the sore spots and working them out. All I have ever wanted to do was help people. My take on this week is that it was a very successful, busy week, and I'm looking forward to next week being as wonderful.

On deck.
That Paul Eugene is a kick! I'll bet he's really quiet in regular life.
I teach music (currently preschool), dance and movement (preschool pullout) and karate ( preschool through adult). My husband and I have a karate school together. I also sub for the preschool program for a local parks and rec. I was a late beginner to karate; I began in my mid 40's. Even with a bad back, stenosis in my neck, and some arthritis, I can still do the training. This is a traditional system of karate, not TKD. I have my 2nd degree black belt, working toward my 3rd degree. Due to my physical limitations, I do not do the sparring. My advancement depends on my kata (forms), and my teaching ability and knowledge. Not so bad for a woman my age! I also am training with a voice teacher and working on an aria and duet for his school recital in November. Many of his students are professional or high level amateur , so I am glad he wants me among such a group. At church, I head one committee, sit on admin council, sing in the adult choir, and lead the Praise choir. I love to read! Off to find todays bootcamp... Dianne

I graduated at the end of June from the paralegal program with a 4.0, top in my class. I was never that good a student when I was younger & I really worked hard to prove myself for this midlife career move.
At work, I wear many hats and love the variety that I get in doing those things (it can be stressful on occasion).
I am in Toastmasters and am about to compete in an area contest - a first for me, so that is exciting!
People say I am a good teacher (I sometimes train new employees) and they are always amazed how smart I am.
What I am gaining through SP is a better attitude about myself, my weight and this journey. I am not happy about how heavy I am, but I no longer chafe at how long it is taking me to lose this tonnage. I am ok with it taking the rest of my life to achieve this lifestyle. I changed my weight goal and don't expect to arrive at goal weight for another year. Along the way, I am developing a very different lifestyle than I have ever had!

9/16/10 Day 11 check in. Sorry for being MIA, have family from out of town and have not been home or on Computer. Did the challenge. I have found that weighing in every day is discouraging to me so I have stopped and will weigh in and measure tomorrow instead. Hope everyone is doing well. My injury is getting better, these things just take time. Have a super wave day!

Don't think too badly of me but i'm not a great cook -I don't have many recipes to offer (maybe I should make it part of my new diet change to cook more~)Thanks and hello to everyone on our great 21 day challenge team!

I also have no idea how to do the links to display where my recipe is, but I am trying this tonight, had to get the sun dried tomatoes, but other than that, I have everything on hand, and it sounds so good, so does the Lemon Basil Chicken with Basil Ailoi, I've never had it, but I did print it out, sounds good. tonight's menu Baked Chicken with Garlic and Sun Dried Tomatoes (Chef Meg's Makeover it is easy to find, just go to sparks recipes. I enjoyed the sailing, always do, and it is funny, I am always nervous, even on a cruise ship when I can't see land. but I want to do it. As I said, my closet is on-going, but at least it is in progress, and the Lunges with Ball will be done soon. All you matey's will soon be getting lots of smily faces
