My goals:

First of all - I need to really figure them out precisely! But they go like this: Workout a minimum of three days a week, write more, plan eating, challenge myself with new fitness activities. Get my weight into the 160s. Learn how to set aside "me" time.

I like everyone's entries! I need to refine my goals some more so they are more specific. Hope everyone is doing well!

To just stick with the program and enjoy the results as they come--whatever they are. I'd love to see some weight melt off but even if it doesn't (or not as quickly as I'd like), I'll continue doing what I know is healthy for me.

I want to be in good enough condition to hike with my family this summer. I don't have to be thin for that--just strong.

I want to be as positive as I can be this year. It makes me happy when I think positive. There is good in everything we just need to look for it.

No resolutions for me, but I do have some great goals! I journal my goals on the Community Journal and I talk about some on my blogs. I also have a journal here on my desk that I am tracking things in.

I sent for the 2 calendars from SP. They are on sale half price. I will track some things there too.

Happy New Year!

I don't do resolutions because in my mind, that's a temporary thing and I'm trying to change my entire lifestyle, eat better all the time, exercise at least 30 minutes 6 days a week and figure out how to change up my routine so my body doesn't get bored and complacent.

Make it a good day,

Gini

hmm..

I'm going gung-ho this time. I've baby-stepped my way for too long!

This is my plan until I'm at goal (dang it!)
1. MWSa - running (training for my next race)
2. TTSu - Yoga and weight training
(Fridays are off)
3. LOG! and following the insulin resistance diet concept so I remember to eat enough protein
4. Keep at it till I'm at 180.
5. Resume playing trumpet (I'm sure my instructor is wondering where I am...)

6. Don't fall flat on my face ;-)

Great idea for us to post our own personal challenges for the year, that way we can all help each other stay on track!

Ok my resolutions for 2009
1) Up My Cardio endurance to 45 min 4 times a week
2) strength training 3 times a week for at least 30 min
3) Post a blog entry at least once a month to help keep myself on track
4) Devote at leat one weekend a month to hobbies (this is my me time!)
5) Start a reward system (still looking for ideas on this one)

Well, that's what I have so far.

Sandra, baby steps - that's a great goal. I know I always want everything now... I'm borrowing that one too. Thanks for the idea!

My goal is to lose the holiday pounds and then stabilize my maintenance weight again. After being sick and gaining some, I lost it and then came Thanksgiving, I gained some, I lost it and here I am again, up a few pounds...Over and over again. That's how I stay in maintenance. If I over indulge, I have to get it off before it takes root on me and is harder to get off. If I don't take it off as it comes on me, it will pile up and before I know it I'm fat again..Not for this girl, I like thin too much to let that happen..We're in this together! emoticon emoticon emoticon

If you haven't already done so and you want to start small, make a resolution to:
drink 8-10 glasses of water
get 8 hours of sleep
walk at least 10 minutes or exercise 10 minutes a day
Eat more veggies and fruits and less processed food.
Etc, Etc. You get the picture..

These are small things, like baby steps if you're not up to a big challenge and I'm sure you can think of more that would be good. If you make your resolutions within your grasp, you are more likely to follow through. Another thing is to seriously think how you would like to improve your life in the New Year. Maybe even write them down, then set out to improve those things even if you only take one at a time.
Some things that you can do such as:
Mindset, keep thinking positive, replace negativity with optimism. Mindset is a great weight loss tool. Everything starts with a thought, good or bad, which produces a deed, good or bad, which results in your future, good or bad. You can create your future with your thoughts. Think of the farmer who plants his field, if he plants good seed, he will get a good crop, if he plants seeds from a weed, he will get weeds, the land doesn't care, whatever he plants will grow. Our minds are like that land, if we plant positive thoughts we will have a positive future, if we plant negativity, we'll get negatives. These are all things that we can do to make our lives better.

Looking forward to a successful new year is a lot more than just following through on a New Year’s resolution. It’s about setting tangible goals for yourself and marking your progress along the way. Plotting small daily and weekly achievements towards larger life goals can really help you feel a sense of accomplishment.

Today, sit down and take an inventory of your mind, body, and spirit. Note the things you’d like to improve. For example, if you are dissatisfied with your job, write that down. Or if you feel rather bored by your day-to-day life, make a note of that too. Most of us will have healthy living or weight loss on our lists. Whatever areas of your life you’d like to change, be honest about it and make your list.

Next, brainstorm ways of improving these parts of your life. Want to change your job? Perhaps you can take a professional development class or start networking with people in another field that interests you. Dissatisfied with the state of your health? Think about exercising a couple times per week or making small incremental changes to your diet.

Finally, make a commitment to yourself about doing some of the items on your list with the goal of changing your circumstances in the year ahead. Write them in a calendar and mark your progress.

It’s exciting to start a new year. This exercise will really help you take a positive first step.
