Well the triathlon is over. What a blast! I finished 65th out of 370 people and 8th in my age group. My overall time was 44:57. Thankfully the rain held off long enough for the vast majority of racers to finish. The toughest part of the event was the swimming, even though I trained and was very capable of swimming the 400m I had never trained in a 50m pool, (the pool where I train is 25m) and just getting caught up in the moment with the crowd, the adrenaline etc, I went out too fast and tired before I was even halfway done with the swim. I took a moment and gathered myself and finished fairly strong. I did really well on the bike, no issues there. My run was slow, one because I had no way to pace myself (my running watch can't be worn while swimming so I left it off and there were no clocks on the course) and two because it was my first tri and I wasn't sure about energy levels and whatnot. The transitions went smoothly also, I am very glad I practiced them and had a plan that I went over in my head. Overall a great experience!

This weekend I'll be taking part in my first triathlon. It's a super sprint held in the Nassau Aquatic Center and surround area. 400m swim in the pool, 6 miles on the bike, 2 mile run.
