The idea is more to spread the use of energy then only save it. With the day lasting longer, instead of everybody going home at the same time and using energy, people tend to go out, do something, this way the energy pick at, lets say, 6 pm is diluted.

But how do they figure about the lights? How do they run for one hour less time? Most businesses run the lights all day at least from opening to close if not 24 hours a day, regardless of sunlight/daylight available. Even in homes, most people run lights when they are home regardless. (Not most greenies of course but unfortunately, we aren't most people.) I believe it could be true, I just haven't seen anything to convince me. emoticon

Since it isn't something we really have any control over my feelings on it are simply related to the fact it makes daylight last later in the evening. Since I'm not a morning person, the later the sun stays up the happier I am. On that basis I love it.

Remember, DST is a human invention to take advantage of daylight for more work. In today's modern economy it works to save electricity, because lights get turned on later and run for an hour less time than otherwise. Because of that, then, EcoSparkers should be at least somewhat pleased with it.

I would prefer not to have DST.
I like the lighter morning hour.
I'm an early riser.

YEs, I did.

While I do like the late day light (here it gets to the point where it is day till 8:30 pm) I really do not like to leave work at 7 am and it is still night.

Other than that the change in time does not bother me. I adapt fast to the change...

Isn't that odd that we change times on different days...hmmm...wonder how THAT all adds up in the scheme of things. I have to say I am of two minds when it comes to this (or more)..one, I think they should leave it alone...two, living in Ft Myers FL with a west-facing bedroom window I am GRATEFUL for it...that sun gets fierce coming in those windows and I have tried many things to combat it and keep my room cooler - I am at a loss so having the sun go down earlier is nice...still...we all have 24 hours but people with SAD are affected as well...more daylight is better for them -

Thanks for the reminder, I was a bit confused since I didn't think it was that time already, but here in GB the time doesn't change until March 28th, but at least I'll know then :)

Happy day all,

Did you remember to Spring forward today? Do you like daylight savings and such or do you think they should just leave time alone already? emoticon

I did not spring forward but two of my clocks do so automatically. So I woke up this morning thinking "wow, I slept until 9!" And I think they should leave time alone. I like the spring forward because I don't like when it gets dark before dinner in the winter, but I want them to leave it alone already. We aren't agriculturalists who depend on sunlight anymore, and I don't believe that it helps to conserve any energy. (I know they say it does, but I don't really believe it.)
