Good morning REJOHNSON and thanks for the wonderful welcome.
Yes, we're both on the Street Glide for now. We try to go for an extended ride every weekend when the weather is good. However, summertime in Central Florida sometimes makes that tricky.

We just bought a 2012 Street Glide. We also own a 1998 Sportster that I am supposed to be riding, but we need to make some adjustments before I can.

Yeah, over the years, I think I've tried 'em all, but I'm kind of stuck on HD! The only other bike I would consider now is maybe an old pre-unit Triumph, if I could find one in reasonably stock condition.

Hello, BEAR8MM! My first Harley was a '93 Ultra Classic Anniversary model and I still use it through the week. It has over 91,000 miles on it. I also have a 2008 Ultra Classic Anniversary model. Been riding since I was 19 and have owned many different brands through the years.

My first hog was a 1978 FXE, at the time, it was about $3500 out the door. My current ride is a '95 Electraglide Ultra Classic, slightly stripped down.

WooHoo! Now I have to figure out how to do this. And I know that it can be done. Another challenge.
And there are no planks to be walked either. By the way at the last Maine HOG Rally last weekend our North Hampton, NH Seacoast HOG Team beat the Maine's team at their own game - a plank walk or it was called a "Down East Ski Race" with two 12 foot four X fours with a rope in a hole every foot that 12 members got on and walked in unison for 60 feet. We have always lost to them but we practiced through the winter and we bested them at their own game and won the "big" trophy. I could not be there because I was putting on a big party for my wife for her 70th birthday.
Now to see about making some big changes - I hope things go easy and well making this change.

Okay, RE, I will be your co-leader..............but only if I don't have to walk the plank or some other thing like that.................see, I can't swim.............LOL
I will continue to back you up and post to everyone, I just woud hope everyone would just check in at least once a week or something so we know they are okay.............

Well, thank you for asking! Do you know that statement you have permanently installed in your posts - You will always be what you have always been. You know, that one. I never asked that question when I took on this job - the one about what will be my responsibilities; I only said to myself, "what have I done now." Your responsibilities will only be what you set for yourself as goals like you have done all along. Being here and checking in with what is going on, I guess, could be a major goal or responsibility. Some things I have not done would be to set forth some challenges to the Team Mates. Problem is here is that we have over 400 members and around 20 to 25 are somewhat active. Some members we cannot reach because they do not toggle the right switches to let us into their SPARK PAGE which may be planned or unplanned, I do not know. Keep thinking about it anyway.

Hmmm.. a lot of newer bikes on here.
I ride a 1953 FL Panhead chopper. Kickstart, suicide shift (foot clutch, hand shifter behind my leg), open belt primary, 21" front wheel (no front brake), narrowed triple trees, handmade stainless components (mid-controls, brake and clutch, etc...). Tiny frisco'd tank and narrowed fender with custom paint. The bike has been featured in a few magazines both here in Canada and the States. We just rebuilt it over the past winter. I will add a picture of it to my profile photos page.
I have also built a few other bikes as well.

Hi all! New to the group here, but on SP since January. I got an 883 hugger for a wedding present from my s.o. in May. He has an Ultra Classic with all the bells and whistles that we ride as well. S.o. is a workaholic so we aren't out too much but we ride when we can and dream when we can't! Our town had its first ever bike night last week and we had over 200 despite the rain showers!

Welcome, WANDA! Glad to see you visit our forum. You have joined with a great group of people on a weight loss journey. My wife and I both ride Harley-Davidsons. She has a Street Glide and I have an Ultra Classic. We drove out to Milwaukee two times; first time was for their 100th anniversary and the second time was for their 105th. We have visited their new museum too.

Hi Everyone, new here. We have a 2003 100th anniversary Heritage Classic Softail . Black with a lot of added chrome. I'm a passenger, not the rider, and I'm OK with that. :) Weather here has been pretty sucky so haven't been out much yet this year. Did attend a bike blessing event yesterday and it was great to be among all those bikes and riders.

With winter still holding on to our lives here in this area I am sitting on the saddle of my stationary bike and doing all the work.. We are so looking forward for that first good ride of the spring. Maybe we ought to call it the daffodill ride or the crokus ride because that is what is shooting up out of the cold ground right now and they will be blossoming soon.

My ride is a 2004 Ultra Classic. I went backwards a little with this because I traded in a 2006 Sporty to get it. I started riding in "67" with my friends in high school. Back then all we could afford was Honda's and Yamaha's. Harley's were for the bad boy bikers. In 73 when my mother remarried, my new brother had a Harley chopper and rode with the "Satins Pride" in Green Bay. That really felt strange riding with them and I only made a few of their rides.
After moving to Tennessee in 78, I still rode Honda's until I got out of riding for a few years. Now I'm back with a real good bike and can't believe I missed all those years of having so much fun. I now fly the colors of "The Old Coots on Scoots" and am making rides just about every weekend when I am off. I am chapter coordinator in the middle TN area and we have a few other chapters close by in Portland, TN and Bowling Green, KY.
I am glad that I found this group on SP and hope to be able to contribute as well as learn with everyone.

My ride is a 2008 Anniversary Ultra Classic Harley-Davidson. It is presently on a trickle-charge to keep the battery ready for that spring start and first ride of the year. There have been some Februarys where the weather has allowed a winter ride but so far that will not happen this year. I may just start it just to hear the engine run. My wife also rides and has a 2007 Street Glide.

I have been a HOG member and Chapter member since 1993. I have a very low number and according to some they say I must older than dirt to have this number. I have been an officer for two years and I have been involved as an Event Coordinator in a few State Rallies. We have a great bunch of people that have been involved in our Chapter.

Rejohnson,
I did, I have an '05 Heritage and '01 Heritage Springer Classic.
I joined a HOG chapter about 5 years ago (I stopped drinking and needed to find some new playmates), and I have been an officer for three of those five years. As of January 1 I am just a member again, so I have more time now to focus on me and my weight loss project!

Good morning, all. I ride a 2008 Anniversary Ultra Classic. I also ride a 1993 Anniversary Ultra and I have almost 90,000 miles on it. My wife rides 2007 Street Glide and has over 25,000 miles on it. Our longest ride was to Milwaukee, WI in 2008 for "the party" and we put over 3,000 miles on during that time.

Hi! I ride a 2011 Deluxe and my husband rides a 2008 Softail Custom. Started out on a '09 883 Sporty in July and moved up to the Deluxe in Sept. Having a great time - San Diego is perfect for riding (although, having a ton more rain than is usual this year - of course). Glad I found this group.

Hey, folks!! I don't know HOW I managed to miss this group. Notice the screen name, sheesh!
Anyway!! My husband and I have a 2003 100th anniversary gunmetal blue FatBoy. we LOVE it!! We've thought of getting something bigger, but we just a-don't have the money, and b-can't bear to part with her just yet. We're local HOG members, and are real active in our chapter. I also work at the local Harley dealership- stop by and say HI if you're in Ft. Walton Beach, FL anytime soon. Ride it like ya' stole it. Bren

True confession: I haven't been on my bike since Labor Day. It was pretty hairy after DP's accident. But soon, I'll be back in the saddle.

Elaine, How blessed you are to have been able to get your brothers bike....a way to feel close to him...doing something you both enjoyed.
I don't know how far back I posted my 2010 Softail Deluxe, but the picture is of it. It rides like a dream compared to the Sporties I had before. Husband has a Heritage, traded his Dyna for it.
We can't afford to eat (laughing here) but we have nice bikes. Hey, who needs to eat when you can go riding.
Blessings Ya'll, I am sitting here, in Alabama, waiting on the SNOW and stuff we have been forecast. Bummer. WELL, the good side is it is 54 right now and I am off to ride my bike. DH is under the weather so he has to stay home....poor baby..............

I have two bikes.
An '05 Heritage that I have done a little bit of work to the engine on. It also has a lot of that Kuryakin 'widow' bling, along with a few other spiders here and there.
An '01 Heritage Springer, the one with the fringed leather bags -- a real head turner. When I ride that one to work in rush hour everyone is looking at me instead of driving LOL. This was my late brother's bike and I bought it from his widow so I get to remember him every time that I ride it.

Saw one today with his shoes untied, shoestrings flying, so I figured we would come up on him in the dirt or actually piled up on the concrete.

I have seen those that ride with flip flops too, and cannot understand it. I guess they have not dropped their bike yet and scraped the crap out of their foot and leg, or burned themselves on a pipe yet. The day that happens, my guess is that they will be wearing pants and boots from then on.

JJ, I am also vertically challenged, but the 2 sporties I had were XL883L and XL1200L, both already lowered. The Softail I have, is totally comfortable long as I have the booties on...lol Of course, I wouldn't ride any bike without boots.
I see a lot of guys riding around in shorts and sneakers, or the worst was flipflop sandals, and I have yet to figure out how he was shifting. LOL

Sucks about your sunglasses! Once you find a good pair, it takes forever to find another.
Sportster Chick...once you have the basics down you can ride any bike. I had a sportster though, and loved it. The only problem was that I'm vertically challenged (haha) and the bike was too tall for me. To get it lowered enough for my comfort would have cost quite a bit of money.

WOOHOO!!! I bought myself a Fatboy this weekend! It's not brand new, but it is new to me, and I love it!!! But only me, living in sunny Florida, would buy a new HD on the rainiest weekend of the whole year (or that is what it seemed).

Sounds like a nice ride, but you know you can only ride one at a time...LOL.....
They are addictive, expensive but I like to have them in different colors...my DH says I am hopeless.

In 2008, my daughter and I purchased a 2001 Harley Davidson for my hubby for Father's Day. It was a 1200 but now is a 1340! It is pretty much custom...tank, paint, air cleaner, drag pipes, etc. He wants to start drag racing so I figure a light bike and big motor would do the trick! I will post a pic of it soon! It really stands out!
