I have several different kinds growing and now I have to put nets over them so the black birds don't get them. Nice info to keep and try. Have a great 4th of July.

Joyce

I am a very easy going gal that loves people and wants to know as many as I can. I want to make new friends so I can enjoy more of life. When people get to 55 or 60 there are some that think life should be over but guess what it is just beginning. Maybe 50 years ago it was over but not now people are living longer and working in their 70's. I would have been if I didn't have leukemia and it does not stop me but I have good days and bad, so being home if I need rest, I rest, at work I couldn't do

I wish I could grow watermelon - it just never gets hot enough here.

Usually, I eat the whole seed, but I always have eaten them fresh--just crunch once or twice and swallow them with the juicy melon meat.

I have heard of people using the seeds for tea--pouring hot water over them. But I don't know if they grind them first, roast them, or what. emoticon

Wow, that is great to know!

Gardening is a kind of disease. It infects you, you cannot escape it. When you go visiting, your eyes rove about the garden; you interrupt the serious cocktail drinking because of an irresistible impulse to get up and pull a weed.

this is fascinating. Do you split the dried seed and eat the kernel or eat the whole thing?

Watermelon flesh and seeds help clean the kidneys. There are "banks" of frozen watermelon juice that some kidney-pestered people buy from. However, the seeds also have this action, so drying and saving the seeds for off-season eating works well.

I tend to eat the seeds with the watermelon.
