Ashtanga yoga. I didn't lift weights for nearly a year, Ashtanga helped me put my upper body muscles back on, I gained 6 lbs of lean mass only doing yoga (and eating a surplua, of course)

I've started up my yoga practice after a long hiatus, 2x-3x a week, hot (95*F) Vinyasa Flow. Wow. I thought I was kinda fit and strong. I'm certainly not yoga-strong. It seems so good for many things my regular workouts haven't spoken to as directly such as proprioception and the whole mind-body connection. I'm liking this addition to my regime.

I try to do Yoga at least once per week. If I can make it to Yin Yoga on Sundays I go for that class, since that helps me the most with flexibility and stretching. It provides a fantastic balance to the weight lifting I am doing.

I do the same as BOBBY_SF. I am currently doing P90X Classic and love the Plyometrics, Kenpo, and the Cardio X workouts. Jump training is excellent, I did it a lot when I was younger, and it is amazing the results you get in other areas of fitness and sports when you incorporate this training. Flexibility and Fitness go hand in hand, so I am like most others who have replied, Yoga is great and challenging as well.

I used to run, but as I get older, the constant impact is beginning to affect my left knee. Since the fall of 2009, I've been using Beachbody workout DVD's such as Slim in 6, Power 90, Power 90 Master Series, P90X and Insanity for cardio and HIIT. P90X also has a Yoga workout which I do religiously once a week now. It has helped me in all aspects of my fitness.

I love the elliptical and do 45 min at least 5 days a week starting at level 4 for 3 min. then 5-11 for three min. each, repeat till done. I don't get to do one of my favorite sports often enough....hang gliding in mountains of Tennessee! That's fun! weights....4 days...lots of pilates..and ballet stretches. Treadmill 5 days and ballroom & swing dancing at least two nights a week with my hubby. Biking when the weather is nice. Two 50 mile rides worked in a year.

Terrific thread!

I do Cathe Friedrich too - and Ilaria's kickbox, plus some of the cardio from P90x. And Kettlebells. While on travel (when I'm using exercise machines in hotels), CardioCoach MP3s are my preference. Coach Sean really gets a person working!

I'm starting to try yoga again. Classes don't fit my always-on-the-road lifestyle, and I've disliked most of the dvds. Recently, though, I tried P90X's yogaX, liked it, and asked around for similar. Rodney Lee's PowerYoga is enjoyable and you don't have to do the whole hour to get a benefit (about 20 minutes is what I have slates for stretching). Kari Anderson's Reach is fun as a stretch/move/loosen dvd.

I do Cathe Friedrich step workouts. Eventually I'll add her interval workouts and kickboxing workouts, but I need to get my stamina back up after being lazy for over a year. Argh!

In the past I've whittled my BF% down through almost daily varied cardio workouts plus weight training 3 times a week. Eventually I'd like to see what HIIT can do for me, but not yet!

I'd love to add yoga at least once a week. I've never been good at doing it consistently though!

I'm loving Jillian Micheal's Burn Fat ,Boost Metabolism which consists of a warm-up,7 circuits and a cool down/stretch segment.I also like You;The Owner's Manual Workout which gives you 2 strength training programs (I've only done program 1 and it uses weights) and there is a cardio program that I've done which is done at 3 different levels and is a monster.Either one of these workouts will make you sweat and I bought them both from Border's which also has a 40% off sale going on in store.

I really have to pump myself up to do cardio but once I'm doing it I find it hard to stop. I do four cycles of HIIT (1 minute hard, 2 minute mod) with a warm up and cool down three times a week and switch between running and the elliptical. (I hate the bike). I will also throw in some steady state after a five minute rest period if I'm up for it. I can't wait for spring and warm weather so I can start hiking again, that's my ideal.

I am going to look up the 5 k website. Thanks for the running website tip. I am a little wary of Yoga poses done without a teacher. As a long time practitioner and a medical professional I know of injuries caused by Yoga poses done wrong. And, contrary to popular belief some kinds of yoga can be a VERY good cardio workout. It depends on the poses, the sequence and the pace.Take care everyone and have a great day

ECLIPSED, try www.yogatoday.com. They offer a different class every day and it’s free! You’re not able to download the class, but that doesn’t make a difference to me.

Susan, have you checked out the Couch to 5k (C25k) program? It is a set schedule that will have you running 5k in 9 weeks. The website with the program is www.c25k.com. Check it out. It’s a great program and I know tons of people who have started AND finished the program!

I have to switch up my cardio a lot in order for me not to get bored. I run outside about 3 days a week. The other days I use the elliptical or bike. I ran in my first race this past weekend with my husband and we now officially have the bug. We are going to compete in a triathlon this May with another friend as a team. Everybody I know thinks we’re insane.

It really is a toss-up for me as to which I enjoy more, lifting or cardio. They both make me feel fantastic but in completely different ways.

I'm just now teaching myself to run by walking a lap and running two or vice versa. I also use the treadmill on Hill Plus which increases the incline in varying, escalating percentages which really gets me going. My favorite cardio is the elliptical trainer because it's more friendly to my knees but I still get a good sweat going. I do cardio on days I don't lift.
I'd love to try Pilate's as I need more core work to strengthen my abs.emoticon

Cardio is good for your circulatory system and of course, your heart. It needs to be worked out by circuit training or some other activity to get the heart rate up and get you sweating.

I do running, the elliptical and cycling. I'm going to give a pilates class a try soon.

Nitro, even if you don't like cardio you should do some sort of flexibility training, it keeps your body looking balance.

Cardi workout ...Its Bikram Yoga thrice a week for me. Boy , do i sweat it out! I would increase it to 5 times a week if i could. I walk the rest of the days. Since I haven't lost any weight at all i plan to add weights. I have injured myself , training with a personal trainer no less, in the past, so I am not looking forward to that.

I do the treadmill run/walk. If I do 30 minutes I am pumped for the day. It gets rid of my depression and I feel good. My treadmill is at home, so I read and watch TV, even go onto my mobile laptop to keep from getting board. I pull the curtains back and watch the outdoors. 30 minutes pass by in 5 minutes when I don't want to do it. My legs are looking good for the summer. Just got to keep it up for more than 3 days a week.

honestly I don't do anything like that. I don't stretch, I don't do cardio, and when I need to loose fat I just change my diet.

I wish I had more to add, but all I do is eat, lift, and sleep.

I tried yoga while on vacation last year and would love to take classes. Problem is I can't find any locally that fit my schedule. Another thing I really love is sparring with my trainer. It really gives you a great cardio workout, but it's not boring like some of the cardio I put myself through :)

Purpose: Share your cardiovascular exercises that really get your blood pumping or an exercise that does not fit into the weight lifting category.

Favorite: I finish off most of my workouts with a session of Pilate's followed by stretching. I am seeing more results doing Pilate's than when I was just doing Ab exercises alone.
