Hey Mom2Ms,

I have two weeks remaining in ChaLEAN! I will be done with it by 8/4. I am so excited. I still don't really 'like' the Lean Phase. I really do find the compound movements confusing.

I am not really losing weight anymore, but my body shape/composition is changing.

I feel like I need heavier weights and more sets. Even though I am lifting heavy enough... I always feel I could do another set, after I rest.

I am going to finish the program and then move on to the TF/ChaLEAN hybrid. I think the extra aerobics will be good for weight loss.

Hi Shira,

I just finished the Lean Phase, my second cycle. I lost another 25 lbs with CLX and Turbo Fire mix. I am on vacation next week, but when I return I will be starting the cycle again. I don't think the Lean cycle is that hard necessarily, but is longer because every exercise does an extreme set. SO then I feel like I'm cheating when I go back to Burn, LOL.

Hey,

How is everyone doing? I just started the Lean phase. So far, so good.

I did Day 2 yesterday and I had to step back to 3 and 5 pound weights for some of the shoulder exercises. This fact eased my mind about needing to buy heavier weights.

I am reserving judgment on the Lean phase. I am not fond of coordinated weight exercises. I always think that it takes me too long to figure out the exercise, to get the proper burn/effect.

I woke up this morning with deep? serious? excessive? normal (to bodybuilders)? soreness in my upper back, shoulders, and triceps.

As a result, I am taking a half of a day off! I am going to do my Burn Intervals at 4pm.

Pain. Pain. Pain. I hope the pain... okay, it is just discomfort, leads to some serious results. My fingers are still crossed.

Hey Mom22MS (and everyone :)

There was a longer response but my work computer crashed earlier in the week... and then work ended... So far, I must admit, I am not enjoying the Push month as much as I liked Burn. The workouts sap my energy and I am not really able to get extra aerobics in after the workouts... I am used to working out for an hour... 30 or so of weights and 30 or so of cardio. This might also be because I've started intermittent fasting... or delaying breakfast...

I am going to definitely do an hour of aerobics in the evenings now instead of 1 hour of activity in the evening and a quick 30 minutes in the evening.

I still (now) think the only way I am going to get the results I want, I will have to do extra aerobics.

I've really had to add extra protein, to make sure I am eating enough. I've started eating lean protein with my breakfast! It's a little nuts.

My weight poundage-usage has gone up-- I use 15-20's for everything, except triceps.... I am still at 12's for them. I am a little worried because the heaviest weight I have is 25... of course, I am also cheap... I don't really want to spend $25 bucks per #30 pound weight... and $29 x2 per 35# weight... I looked at the SelectTechs and decided, uh no, not yet.

I have already decided that, after I finish this program, I am going to do Brazilian Booty Lift... and then I will do Insanity or Turbo Fire...

So, I won't really need the SelectTech's for a while... in the interim, and to finish the program, I bought a variety of heavy resistance bands... They are like $30 for a set of 5 or 6 bands...

I think I will leave SelectTech purchase for the second time I do the program...

Edited to add: So, in case anyone is curious... I started ChaLEAN 5 weeks ago at 221, and I am currently 211. So 10 pounds in 5 weeks with definite increased strength and muscle mass. If anyone is on the fence about buying and starting the program (that's how I felt before I committed, and all that)... do it.... it works :)

How is everyone else doing?

Hi Shira, I am starting Lean circuit tomorrow, and I have to say, I am glad! I will be interested to hear your opinion...I am always starving during Push month!

Today I did Push 1 and Turbo Fire 45 EZ. First time I've ever been able to do a Fire workout after CLX. Usually I do a Turbo Jam workout after CLX. But I decided to push it today and see what happened...and I did it! Love feeling strong, but man are my arms tired! :)

Hey Anneviolet,

I did Burn 2 today. I am in week 3 of the program. I like the regularity and knowing what I am doing, every day. I have not instantaneously dropped 20 pounds. Yeah, I know that wasn't going to ever happen instantly... but a part of me was still hoping. My clothing fits better and the scale has dropped 2 or so pounds. Maybe I put on some muscle weight and I've lost more... I doubt it.

This week I am incorporating more cardio to rev up the fat loss. I've read lots of reviews and most people have suggested additional cardio to help with fat loss. In fact, the DVD set from Beachbody includes an extra Turbo Jam cardio workout. I am not sure if they are just trying to advertise or if people complained about not getting the desired results from the workout plan, as suggested.

Last week I (sort of) committed to the eating plan. I am eating recipes from and inspired by the ones in the Fat Burning Food Guide. So far, so good. I have discovered I love ricotta cheese and berries. Who knew?

I have a slight fear I may become a Chalene Johnson fanatic. I like her personality and camera presence so much that I've been buying used DVDs of her older program, Turbo Jam. I would like to do Turbo Fire for cardio, but I want to finish this program first and I am not sure if I have the aerobic capacity (and ceiling height in my basement :) to do the Turbo Fire workouts. Perhaps after the Chalean Extreme rotation ends I will shell out the money for the program... or not.

So to sum up... workouts are great... I am iffy on the diet plan... but I am trying it.

Actually, today, in my downtime at work, I started looking up intermittent fasting... perhaps I will try that, in conjunction with this program if I haven't lost much weight or inches...

I am still a work in progress... the goal for me is to keep moving and trying healthy and sensible things.

You know, you don't need that much space to do the workouts. You can do them in the living room. I would say you need as much space as an exercise mat takes up on the floor... I hope you can jump into the program soon!

I will do Push 3 tomorrow, which will be the end of week 2 for me. I had to buy new shorts/capris for the summer...I was down 2 pants sizes! So exciting! Loving Chalene and all her videos, plus everyone here on SP! Havw a great weekend, everyone!

I did burn intervals and the ab burner today. Hard work.

Yesterday I got my new DVD set from beachbody. I am wondering, is anyone here following the diet plan? I decided to try it. ... In for a penny, in for a pound...

I don't think I am going to follow it religiously. I am going to keep my calories at the level that Sparkpeople suggests, but choose meals out of and inspired by the cookbook.

It is strange to eat so much protein. I usually eat fruit for snacks, not deviled eggs or grilled chicken!

I hope your workouts are going well. I did Burn 2 today. My boyfriend has the silliest saying when he works out... "BEAST MODE". He says it as if he is speaking in all caps, of course.

I felt like I was in BEAST MODE today, during my workout. LOL.

I did Burn 1 today. I was able to go up, at the highest, to 12 pounds. Whoo. I think I've lost 1/2 an inch off of my waist so far.

thanks for the info that does make sense. I know there has to be some muscle there under that fat otherwise I wouldn't be able to do the exercises lol :-) its just still hiding. I think I'm going to ad some form of cardio everyday and see what happens. I have been noticing a change in my arms as they are finally starting to show definition. Now if I can just get the same results in my abs

I am in my first week of Push and I know how you feel. And in Push, Chalene wants you going super heavy! You only do 6-8 reps each. I still probably am going too light but since this is the first week and the exercises are totally different than the Burn Cycle, I wanted to see what I could do!

But honestly, women don't have the testosterone to bulk up the way a man does. The only way woman become body builders is to take testosterone suppliments. Chalean even talks about it in one of the videos. I think her sister Jenelle is a great example or Tony (have you don't Burn Intervals, she is in that). They have amazing bodies and aren't bulky at all.

Now, you could feel like your cloths are getting tighter or the scale going up or not moving, and get scared that you are bulking up, but really that is because you haven't lost the fat on top of the muscle. But muscle 1) weights more and 2)burns more calories, so keep building that muscle and the fat will start to melt away!

I found adding in some extra cardio on the days of just the weight training helps to keep the scale moving!

I did Burn 3 this morning. I walked into my workout space ready to do Burn it Off... then I looked at the calendar and realized that Burn 3 was on the schedule. I was rather disappointed. It worked out okay. During one shoulder exercise I picked up one 5 pound and one 8 pound weight by accident. I realized, then, that I was able to do the shoulder exercises with 8 pound weights.

Chalean is right, I am stronger than I think!

I did push 2 last night and also decided to do to ab burner. I was dieing afterwards. I did the whole thing with either 10 or 15lb weights. My largest weight is 15 I'm kind of hesitant to keep using the 15lbs because I dont want to bulk up. I know they say you won't but I'm thinking if you keep lifting heavy then why wouldnt you bulk up. Going to do push circuit 3 tonight. Hope everyone has a great weekend its going to be in the 80's where I am not sure if i'll get much exercise done as we might be out on the boat :-)

I'm good for about 6 regular pushups then I have to get on my knees. One of these days I'll do all my pushups the regular way. I'm sure of it! I have to believe that emoticon

I bought my CLX off of Ebay and I came to find out 2 days ago that it didn't come with a calendar. I'm a member of teambeachbody, and I posted my question about the schedule I'm supposed to follow each week. Luckily, someone responded and told me where I could find it on the site and I printed it off the whole 120 days on 2 pieces of paper. Whew, thought I was a gonner there! lol

I'm doing Burn Circuit 2 tonight, in about an hour, when my husband gets home since we work out together (for now). He might go back to Insanity.... I don't know.

I can't do the pushups either! I am on my knees for those. I am lucky that my the Burn and Burn it off/Recharge DVDs work. I ordered the new ones from Beachbody... they should be here in 2-5 business days. The return window for returning the defective dvds to Amazon closes June 4.

I think I will be good for next week, they should get here by Wednesday/Thursday.

I agree with you Shirarock I am a purchase use kind of person too. I bought my CLX and turbo jam from amazon used and never had an issue with the DVD's Unfortunately when you buy used items you take that risk of them not being well kept by the previouse person. I am in my second week of the push circuit and really enjoying it im trying to keep all my weight limits to between 10 and 15lbs so that I'm really at failure by the time I reach 8. Still can't do the push ups on my toes except maybe one or two of them then I'm on my knees :-) Doing Push circuit 2 tonight.

Did Burn 2 last night. That one was tough but a great workout. I switched between 7.5 and 10 lbs. But oddly I don't feel sore today lol I'm sure it will creep up to me soon!

Hey,

I just completed Burn Intervals... that kicked my butt. I tried to do the Ab Burner segment but I ran out of time this morning, and my DVD started skipping. I am going to be sending my DVDs back to Amazon ASAP, well, as soon as my new order shows up. I bought the DVDS used. I thought I was getting a great deal, but, I guess not!

It is cool to think that I like this program enough to pay full price. This is not usual for me. I am a used book, used DVD buying person, all the way!

I just completed Burn 2 for the first time. Eeks. That was hard! I was really surprised how much I had to lower my weight-poundage to complete the exercises! I hope everyone had a great workout today!

Hi all!

I just completed my 1st ChaLEAN Extreme workout this evening, Burn circuit 1, and LOVED it!!! I would love some buddies to help me along to help keep me motivated and accountable, especially for those days when it's a bit tough to get going.

I'm here to tone up and lose inches, not to mention a few pounds.

I am trying to lose 20+ pounds by July 4, so I hope a combo of Chalean, eating healthily, and run/walking can do that for me. I am a teacher and I am dedicating this summer to losing the weight I've gained the last 4 years, in grad school.

I'm starting my second week of push today but will be more than happy to check in with you a_New_leaf1 if you want. I'm also doing zumba for my cardio along with Jillian Michaels 30 day shred trying to just mix things up a bit because doing the same thing over and over again makes for a boring workout :-)
