Hey everyone, sorry I haven't been in to chat in a few days, it's been a busy week especially with work and family events.
@Brittany - Thanks for words of encouragement! I haven't done too bad with my calories, I have decided that when I do go over my range I will workout a little bit longer to help compensate for the added calories:)

I wanted to let you know that I’ll be combining teams tomorrow. I made a post earlier today “!!ATTENTION PARTICIPANTS: “GET LEAN BY SUMMER”!!” and received some positive responses.
www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_mes
sa
geboard_thread.asp?board=8772x26430xR>40418967

We’ve gone from 59 members to 47, and some teams have very little activity. We’ll have five teams; three will have 9 members and 2 will have 10 members. There are still some members that are questionable as they don’t have a challenge template up but have posted a few times in the chat rooms, so I will go ahead and place them on a team. You will still be with your current team members; you’ll just be combined with another team. Depending on how it works out, you might have a new team name. If so, all you’ll have to do is copy your original challenge template, go to your new team challenge post, reply and paste in your original challenge template. I plan on doing this first thing in the morning, and will send out a spark mail to all of the members of each team.

I hope that you are enjoying this challenge and making new friends, as well as giving and receiving the support and motivation that this challenge is based on. Even if it’s just telling someone what’s going on in your life, it’s nice knowing that others care and respond to your posts.

Be looking for a Spark Mail in the morning from me. The subject of the mail will be: NEW ‘GET LEAN BY SUMMER’ TEAM ASSIGNMENT.

Thank you,

Susan, Co-Leader
CLX GLBS Challenge Coordinator

@Ashleigh- I agree with Cassandra, don't beat yourself up. Can you make a plan to deal with it when you work evenings?

@Cassandra-Way to go on the morning workout. Hopefully your activity level will help reduce your stress level. Good luck on your voice recital- you will get it all done and do great.

I made it through my class. Eating has been on track. I got in some cardio. I just realized there is some cardio in the CE workouts. I still haven't braved the garage to get the weights out of there. Thinking that I may just go buy some resistance bands.

I had a great accomplishment last week- I never prepare my own meals. I always buy them. I actually grocery shopped last week. Last week I got a few things from the cafeteria and only got one grilled chicken sandwich out. Yay for my diet and wallet! I cooked again tonight something I will eat for the next few days and got items to make beef stew and other staples. I hope I can keep this momentum going!!!

Happy Tuesday all.

Had a rough day. I would say 90% of my eating today was good, but I still managed to stay within my calorie range. I got my workout in this morning which was good. I've just been extremely stressed over my voice recital that's happening in 5 days...so much to do still.
@Ashleigh: Don't beat yourself up too much over your calories today. We can't be perfect 100% of the time! Tomorrow's a new day and I'm sure you'll make healthier choices; I know I will!

I had a great start to my week until I came to work this evening!!!!!! ARGH! Somebody kick my butt please! I just totally wrecked my caloric intake for the day emoticon

Hope everyone has a great start to their week. Looks like we are all off to a great start!

I had my first day of not making my requirements. I had too much dairy which made me really sick so I only ate a little yestersay and then did not feel like working out. I am hoping later today I will feel better.

This is the only time I hate night shift. I have a continuing education class tomorrow...or in a few hours. I worked Sat and work Tuesday night so I am just staying on my night shift schedule since it would be difficult to switch back for one day. I am up studying for the certification test.

@ Cassandra- congrats on the weightloss! Have fun with Zumba DVD, tell me how you like it, maybe thats what I need so I can do it at home.

@ Ashleigh, way to go on getting your workout it!

@Annette, How is is going?

Its going to be a busy week for me, I am really pround of myself for working out before my 12 hour shifts. I have never really done that and it went okay.

I am getting tired of the 20 minute on demand workout. Do you guys have any suggestions for straight cardio DVD's that are on the easier side? I want to do cardio before work, but don't want to have to go to the gym or do anything too intense. It would wear me out on those nights when I just have to run and never sit down.

I am hoping to get my measurements done at the gym. If I can't make it I will do them myself by Tuesday, but they wont be as accurate.

A friend of mine is lending me a Zumba DVD to try...I'm pretty uncoordinated so we'll see how that goes! I figure if I can make it through TurboFire it shouldn't be too difficult...

I'm feeling awesome today! I got my workout in and weighed myself. I'm down to 137, lost 2 lbs this week. I also lost 1/2" in both my waist and hips, so now I'm at 28 for my waist and 38.5 for my hips. I'm pretty excited about it even though I'm not dropping as much as I did when I first started. I know my body is gaining muscle and there's only so much I can lose.
@Ashleigh- I'm gonna have to try the green tea. I've had some in my cabinet for a while now but I always forget it's there.

@ Annette- Way to go on the measurements. Its always great to see progress!

@ Ashleigh- Rotating would be difficult. I love evenings, but most of the shifts around here are straight days or nights.

I did get up and do some light cardio today. My second CE workout will be Sunday. I am hoping to get my weights out of the garage. I work all weekend.

@Brittany- I work on telemetry/cardiac sciences, just finished my 7 day stretch and off for two, then I flip to evenings. I really need to find something with straight days or a better rotation....I'm thinking maybe dialysis.

@Annette- Way to go with your measurements, that's awesome! I love a work out that kills me too, but OMG I am soooo sore today, I'm thinking, workout tomorrow am with hot yoga tomorrow late afternoon! I also need to start getting my veggies in, today wasn't a great day I'm afraid no points for me today, but I've been actually really good with my calorie counting for the last 3 weeks, so I don't feel as bad, I just have to hit the treadmill for an extra 60 mins tomorrow!

@Cassandra- Do you like green tea? I find it helps with cravings, it's 0 calories and it is quite soothing....

@Annette: Ghirardelli chocolate chips with peanut butter sounds amazing. I may have to try that one. I've tried cutting it from my diet completely but I find that if I do that, I tend to binge out on something else horrible. Moderation is a better alternative emoticon

Just took my measurements today. it was a good thing.

Nov. 1st
180 lbs.
36 inch waist
45 inch hips

Today
171 lbs.
34 inch waist
42.75 inch hips

The day before Halloween my step-father passed, he had been sick for a long time. For the past 7 years it has been hard for him to travel far from home. Last year, in Augus, he went into the hospital with double pneumonia. I spent a good amount of time with my mom, in another state, helping to care for him the last two months. I reached my heaviest weight ever in that time 180-something. I've lost 9 pounds in the last four months. When it comes off that slowly, it's hard to appreciate it. But I did it!

@Brittany - I glad you've been motivated!

@Cassandra - I eat Ghirardelli dark chocolate chips, one serving is 80 calories. If I have enough calories in a day I'll melt them with 1T of peanut butter and dip apple slices in it. If you can't eat a small amount, just get it out of the house.

@Ashleigh - I love a workout that just about kills me!

@Ashleigh- I agree about the shift work. I got floated last night so it was a longer night than usual! What's your specialty?

@Cassandra- Can you substitute for something? 70% dark chocolate is a good choice if you fit it into your calorie range. Once I detox from things I do pretty good with cravings.

I set my alarm earlier than usual to get in a little cardio before work. The challenge is working on my motivation.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. I will be working.

I'm so exhausted from today. I started off great, woke up super early to get my workout in, ate a great breakfast and lunch. I snacked on grapes during the day. I had a healthy dinner, but as it gets later I start wanting all those bad things I shouldn't have. It doesn't help that I'm a huge chocoholic. Any thoughts/suggestions on how to push through this and not give in? I've been good thus far but it's hard to keep that willpower..

I feel pretty good right now. Getting ready to make dinner and I have not overeaten today. However, I did not eat any veggies today so far. I really need to work on that. I should definitely get my calories "in range" points again today. That's a biggie for me. Yippie!

@ Ashleigh and Annette. Nice to meet you ladies.

I did my first CE workout. It went pretty well. My weights are buried in the garage so I need to dig them out. I think the workout went well even though I just used my own resistance on my upper body. My legs were buring.

I am trying to clean up my diet, but really struggled with wanting to emotional eat after the last few days have been stressful.

Hi Team!! I just got done with jury duty today, so I'm a little distracted. But that is why I joined, to keep me in focus. I do better when others are counting on me to do my part. I'm really good with the exercise, not so good staying in my calorie range. As a fore warning, I will be visiting family out of state March 6th -10th and will be with my mother out of state for her cancer surgery around march 22nd. I will do my best to keep up with tracking during these times, but I do not have a laptop or smartphone, so it may be difficult. And that is my problem I let life's challenges get in the way, distract me, and slow me down.

@2NDCHANCES - I went to a Zumba class once and had a great time. Just a bunch of women laughing hysterically and bumping into each other.

@ Melanie- Zumba was okay. I am really uncoordinated. I spent so much time trying to get the routine that I almost didn't break a sweat. I may try it again at my gym where it is free for members. I will put more effortint the cardio, the moves will come with time. You should try it out- it was fun.

@ Cassandra- Great goals! I am trying to clean my diet back up as well. Thats one of my March goals as well.

Hey everyone! I'm really excited to be taking part in this challenge. I've never done one and I really think it's exactly what I need to amp me up again. I've been consistently working out, but I'm starting to slack sometimes in the routines emoticon This will help keep me accountable and motivated.
Some of my goals for the next 16 weeks:
-Clean up my eating a bit more. It's not bad now, but there's always room for improvement.
-Lose 10 lbs. and tone up!
-Start incorporating running into my routine. I've always wanted to, but I've been too scared to because of my knees. But I'm 7 weeks into TurboFire and I haven't had any knee pain so I think I can do it!

Hi, all! Excited to be here, be part of this team, and all that will entail. I'm happy to help in any way that I can and also seek to be held accountable and motivated myself.

Brilyn: Good luck with the Zumba class! That is one of my *wants*, haven't done it yet though. Let me know how it goes for you! :)

be blessed...

I am going to try out a new Zumba class with my SIL tonight. I am severely uncoordinated so I avoid classes at all costs. I am just going for it tonight.

Tomorrow will be my first CE workout. I am going to try to review them tonight so I will know what I am doing and what I need.

Any advice about the program would be appreciated.

Good luck all!

Watch your Words, they become actions.

Watch your Actions, they become habits.

Watch your Habits, they become character.

Watch your Character, for it becomes your Destiny.

This is where you will meet on a daily basis to offer encouragement and/or support to your fellow buddies. Spend some time getting to know your teammates. Being open and honest with each other is the best way to really get to know each other, and to be supportive which is what this is all about.

To reply to a specific persons’ post, I find it best using @USERNAME (or first name as you get to know each other).

Depending on who actually ends up participating (sometimes people sign up with the best of intentions, and then end up not participating, or have to leave, or can’t participate for a few days or a week which is perfectly acceptable), the total monthly points will be averaged by the number of participants in each team. Right now we have nine teams with 6 buddies, and one team with 5 buddies.

The first 4-week challenge (TEAM NAME: GET LEAN WKS 1-4 CHALLENGE) starts on Wednesday, March 2. Below is the link to your first 4-Week Challenge (Wed., March 2 through Tuesday, March 29). NOTE: Do WHAT you can WHEN you can.

I’ve included a template that you will copy and paste into a reply. ONE TEMPLATE PER TEAM MEMBER ONLY!

Each month, you’ll total your monthly points by 1:00PM CENTRAL STANDARD TIME the day after the end of each challenge (WEDNESDAY). Sometime that afternoon, I will go in and log your monthly points. I’ll make a post in the “ChaLEAN EXTREME CHALLENGES forum” (see link below), announcing that the next challenge has been posted. Since you know your team name, the challenges will be named “TEAM NAME: GET LEAN WKS #-# CHALLENGE”, so you’ll have to look through the link below to find the next challenge. I suggest that you add each current challenge as a favorite, as well as your CHAT ROOM.
