Hello Daisy/tulips! I am sorry I have been such a bad teammate. This will improve starting this week. I got sick, took a week off from exercising and focused all my energy on getting lesson plans and papers done. I am going to be back on task as of tomorrow morning and once again a teammate that is actually here and participating!

@Fabiola - It sounds like you have found the place that makes your heart sing! We take for granted so many things and you have blessed me with an awakening or reminder of some of them in your candid response; thank you.

@Earin, we have snow from december until april. But it is ok, I like the winter and I think it is so beautiful everything white with little mountains of snow on the street after the storms! But we have heat everywhere, we can do most things underground and they are always cleaning the streets (after a few days without snowing the streets are completely clean, without a trace of snow). And yes, it is Fabiola!

@Kal, you can ask, I don't mind to share these things. I moved to Canada because I was looking for a better life. I think the tropical climate in Brazil is one of the only good things we have there (if you like an eternal summer!). We have lots of problems with violence, corruption, poverty, a bad health and educational system... Of course Canada has it's own problems but, as I say when somebody asks me, if the greatest problem here is the winter, I will be very happy! Here I can walk on the streets without worrying and this is something really worth of.

@Kalyani, I live in Montreal, and you? How long have you been here? Actually, this region of the city where I live is like a colony for indians and filipins and I always go shopping at an indian market near my house.

@kalyas is it actually @kalyani? And we have to move over to the daisy forum and change our signature lines and such but it will be fine because we're still all together just more of us to support each other. So you live in Canada also. I live in Michigan, VERY near the Canada border. Where are you both in Canada?

Anupy Singla who wrote the book I told you about also says that restaurants do not cook traditionally. I look forward to sharing some of your favorite recipes!

I have another friend here on sparks that finished P90X and started Insanity on Monday. I don't think I have it in me!

Ahhh I am a little sad to move from Tulips :-(
@SOCALKAL- Sure I can help with some Indian recipes. I agree that restaurants made Indian recipes are 90% not healthy... All the great tasting ones. However I almost make everything at home with very little oil. This is actually the real version... Restaurants just make them high fat for other reasons. Thanks for applauding me on Insanity... I need all the motivation to finish the last 4 weeks left with Insanity. My plan is to start with a Insanity-P90X Hybrid workout after Insanity.
@Earin I really hope you are doing better today... One thing I have noticed with myself is that if i am stuck with that number and keep thinking about weight all the time, those are the days i do not lose or even gain. Just do what all you are doing and eat well, exercise and take the weight off your mind. You are doing good to your body and it will show the result today or tomorrow. And believe me I will do anything to be at your weight (I was there before)
so keep going.
@Fabiola you are like me.. I moved from India to Australia to Canada now. I am sure you must be seeing a lot of snowy days like i do. Where are you located in Canada? I am sure you must be wondering what you are doing here just like i do in winters. But on the brighter side, It a chinook today (warm weather) and + 5 today...yay

Ok ladies my workout is Insanity Max Cardio Conditioning. Wish me luck. I am in the hate phase now until i am done with it.

@Earin you are TINY. I would venture to say that the reason you are playing with two pounds is that you don't have pounds to lose. What you will see is inches moved around and muscle and you may even gain a pound or two which will be fine. A more compact and awesome tiny turbo you! :)

@Fabiola - I have to ask - how did you opt to move to Canada from Brazil? I'm afraid I would have opted for the tropical (right) climate in Brazil rather than the cold of Canada but of course there are life circumstances i know nothing of so forgive me if I am being too personal.

@Kalyas, I am hoping to learn some wonderful Indian recipes from you! ;) I do a meal plan every Saturday before shopping and every week we eat Indian at least once. We used to go out but honestly it is too fat laden and I can't control how much I eat so now I cook it at home.

@Becky.....sweetie, are you with us? Are you feeling better?

We made it through week one and we all did well! Whoohooey! I am in awe of you @Kalyas; Insanity sounds just that to these old joints! @Fabiola, glad your winter workouts balanced out the vacationing calories and you didn't gain. PERFECT balance!

Great job on the points everyone! We all got at least 700- not a bad start! Kal- 6 pounds in a week? OMG!! That is super!! I find that I don't really lose weight anymore. I gain and lose the same 2 pounds over and over and over. It is so frustrating! I was 114.8 yesterday and 116.8 this morning. How is that even possible? I know I hardly weigh anything, so I am not really complaining out the weight. It's just frustrating to work so hard and not see a change on the scale. I hope when I finish my first month of CLX next week that I see results in inches. (Fingers crossed anyway)

Fabiolabvalio- Snow until April? NO THANK YOU!!!! We are the point in the year in Virginia where we have some days that are in the 50s then the next day may be 70s. A whole lot more 40s-50s then I would like, but we haven't had snow since January I think. I would love another snow day but then I'd like it to be 80 the next day to melt it all :-) What is your first name BTW? Is it Fabiola? Not sure if I missed that somewhere.

@Earin, I hope you get better soon!

@Kal, congrats for you weight loss! Amazing!! And yes, it is still cold here (always bellow 0, like -7º today). We had a storm yesterday and we will have some snow until april. I think you were right about the calories burned during my weekend: I ate a lot more than I should but I didn't gained any weigh.

@Kalyas, good work with Insanity!

I have 765 points for my first week!

Have a nice evening!

Yeppers - 895 and I think I did it! :) I also lost :::drum roll::: SIX pounds. NOT the norm at all and not something that is good to happen but I am under a doctors care and they recently changed up my meds PLUS the workouts and really watching my eating so it was definitely a good week! Very jazzed!

I hope everyone had a great week and is enjoying the challenge so far. Thank you for all of your support; it really helped!

I hope you're soon going to be 100% @Earin!

Week 1 points- 870!! YAY! I only missed 25 points for not eating enough calories the day I was so nauseous. If I did the math correctly, that means the most points you could have earned the first week is 895 if you did all the bonus pointers.

I wanted to let you know that I’ll be combining teams tomorrow. I made a post earlier today “!!ATTENTION PARTICIPANTS: “GET LEAN BY SUMMER”!!” and received some positive responses.
www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_mes
sa
geboard_thread.asp?board=8772x26430xR>40418967

We’ve gone from 59 members to 47, and some teams have very little activity. We’ll have five teams; three will have 9 members and 2 will have 10 members. There are still some members that are questionable as they don’t have a challenge template up but have posted a few times in the chat rooms, so I will go ahead and place them on a team. You will still be with your current team members; you’ll just be combined with another team. Depending on how it works out, you might have a new team name. If so, all you’ll have to do is copy your original challenge template, go to your new team challenge post, reply and paste in your original challenge template. I plan on doing this first thing in the morning, and will send out a spark mail to all of the members of each team.

I hope that you are enjoying this challenge and making new friends, as well as giving and receiving the support and motivation that this challenge is based on. Even if it’s just telling someone what’s going on in your life, it’s nice knowing that others care and respond to your posts.

Be looking for a Spark Mail in the morning from me. The subject of the mail will be: NEW ‘GET LEAN BY SUMMER’ TEAM ASSIGNMENT.

Thank you,

Susan, Co-Leader
CLX GLBS Challenge Coordinator

Hello Ladies, Just updating my progress. I feel pretty beaten up but very proud after doing my Insanity workout today. It was crazily insane... Max Interval Plyo today and I wondered who in the world got the idea of putting those moves... So unique, never seen before kind of moves... Wow...Like my status says I am in a love hate relationship with this program now... totally and completely hate it while i am doing it but love it after i am done...

How are you guys doing?

Thanks for the concern Kal- I don't know if it was from overdoing it. I felt nauseous last Wednesday night too and ended up way short on calories. I was in the middle of doing CLX last night and had to stop with 5 minutes to go. I rested and tried to finish but felt so nauseous I had to quit. I pushed through Burn Intervals and Abs this morning despite the remnants of the nausea. I have one student out sick- surprisingly I have a relatively healthy class this year. The Noro (stomach) virus has definitely hit schools in my area hard though! I am feeling a little bit better this evening though... thank goodness!!

I didn't hear that teams were going to be combined- did you read that somewhere or did they send an email? I hope our team isn't split up- that'd be no good! It would be nice to have a few extra people join us though.

Hiya Tulips. Just in case we have Tulips who are ill :::ahem::: @Earin and @Becky and might miss the convo and subsequent announcement, it looks like a decision has been made that our teams for this challenge are too small. Some teams have had people drop out etc. Susan is going to combine and make five teams and she will announce them tomorrow. Now that said it would be my hope that she isn't going to separate anyone and I didn't see anything said about that so I wouldn't worry!

@Becky I see on your status you have a cough and that was three days ago. Are you alright? I wish we could call or check on people. Yes, I'm a Libra and a Mom and a worrier! Have you gotten your challenge template posted? I can't remember....

@Earin how did today go for you at school? Are you feeling better or worse?

Did you all read that @Kalyas survived her Insanity insanity!*#@!!!! Do tell please!!!!!!

@Kalyas, did you see that you have until the end of today to post your blog for big bonus points in the challenge? Ask away if you are unsure.

@Earin I just saw on your status that you're not feeling well again. :( Did you overdo? Are your kids at school sick? I'm hearing there are a lot of flus rampant around the country with my educator friends. That and you are a single Mom working yourself to the max and burning your candle at both ends as my Gram would say means you are run down. Consider me your Gram (ugh) and please, please take some vitamin C, your vitamins, hydrate and REST. {{{{@Earnin}}}}

So today is our first day to tally our points for a week of our challenge ended and move into week two. How is everyone doing? Is there anything we can do to help? @Becky is everything ok? @Kalyas? I know we're all busy but we signed on to do this TOGETHER and we're here for each other as a team! @Fabiola is it still cold where you are? I am actually feeling promise that spring is coming here slowly but surely. It was in the low 30's yesterday but something in the air gave me hope that I can soon get my bike out and hit the trails and begin training in earnest for my early June ride for the Tour De Cure MI for which I am raising money. My puppy will be happy when Mom is more willing to get out and walk too. Labs needs lots of walking and outdoor adventures. Anyway, we're here for you all Tulips. Come out and play please!!!!

Hi all. Can you believe it's been ALMOST a week already? @Kalyas how was Insanity today? It sounds crazy! @Becky how was your Monday? Another crazy week ahead? @Fabiola I hope you figured out that your winter weekend burned A LOT of calories. I'd figure that as cardio and pretty rigorous cardio at that! @Earin I'd say hitting that alarm and sleeping in was just what you needed and the rest of your week will be stronger for it! @Fabiola, I will try to get you that recipe tomorrow. I have another day of tests and appts. but I haven't forgotten you. They took a lot of blood today and I've logged and cleaned up the kitchen and such and I'm ready to call it a night and head up with a magazine for awhile. I'll talk to you all tomorrow. I'm hoping for at least a small losss!!! We've got this Tulips!!!! Thank you all for helping me stay on course this past week!

Glad to hear everyone had a good weekend. I always find my weekends are nowhere near as restfull as I would. I am more tired by Monday then I was the week before. I set my alarm for 5 this morning, so I could go the gym and run and then do BC2 this evening. Unfortunately, I didn't sleep AT ALL last night, so I turned my alarm off this morning and fell back asleep until 6:30. No gym for me! My plan is to leave work as soon as the bell rings, go to the gym to run 3-4 miles, and then home to do CLX. We will see how well my motivation stays as it gets closer to 3:45. I will definitely do CLX just might skip the gym. I haven't taken a day off from the gym and/or CLX since last Sunday (Feb. 27) Since I started ChaLEAN two and a half weeks ago, I've only taken one rest day.

Kal- I'd be annoyed too if mine kept doing that. Have you emailed support? That would drive me crazy.

Yes, just sparkpeople and it is driving me insane. Not email. Not facebook. Nada. I have a Mac but I've been on sparkpeople for years and never had an issue. Eating my egg white, soinach and mushroom omelette and headed out to a series of doctor appts. -- the ones I missed due to ice last week. I'll come home and work it; I promise!

Still having problems today? Are you having problems only with the SparkPeople site? I mean, can you stay logged in other sites, like e-mail and facebook?

@Earin since I am having logging and staying logged in issues can you email @Kalyas everything she needs to get going in the right direction and place for the challenge please and thank you? I am getting ready to throw scream about this being logged out even if I switch screens between nutrition and fitness to track etc. and I am getting no great info from anywhere. I have to clear my cache every time I do anything and that's not helping either. GRRRRRR.

Good Monday Tulips! No new snow on the ground here but a very chilly temp when walking Maggie this a.m.

Have a GREAT day!

Hello Fellow Tulips

It is my day off from workout today... had a bad high calorie day where i almost ate everything i could untill evening and then tried to behave for dinner. I am not really looking forward for tomorrow... Insanity Fit test and then a one hour Max Insanity workout....OMG. I am truly dreading tomorrows workout..

We will see how it goes.. Hopefully i will survive tomorrow.
@SOCALKAL - Yes i did ... however i could not find out what to do in the challenge still. I am still a little confused on what I am supposed to do? Are we supposed to track anything? What are the rules for this challenge... I am still not sure. But all that aside and I want to lose by summer...

Hi Tulips!

Back from my travel! I was a really nice weekend but yesterday was snowing/raining the entire day so we all got wet and cold! But at night we went to a hot tube at open air in the middle of the icy that was amazing! I don't know how to put that on my spark fitness minutes, but I walked a lot with snow and hills...

Well, after my high-level calories weekend, I will really try to compensate this week. I don't plan the meals for the entire week, but usually I buy lots of fresh vegetables, cut them and store them ready to consume.

@Earin, this week I am going to continue on Chalean Extreme and try some other things together like Hip Hop Abs (it is fun but not a great workout) and some kickboxing class.

Today was my rest day from ChaLEAN, so I went to a 75 minute yogaflex class at the gym this morning. I thought some yoga and stretching would ease some of the soreness I have in my entire body. Not sure if it helped yet or not.

Kal- I just added them to my favorites on my internet browser. Otherwise I'd have a hard time finding us each time. I then dragged it from my fave places to right underneath where you type in an internet address this way I see it every time I get on google chrome.
I do not make a meal plan for the week. I try to shop healthy but my food mood always changes. I may think I want something one night and then I get home from work and want something entirely different. I am definitely a stress eater too, so I have to try to make sure I have healthy good tasting food too.

Don't forget to post every day Team Tulips. This is a challenge and we need all the points we can possibly earn! We can do this! Also if you still want to get 100 bonus points- you have until the 8th to post a blog about why you joined the Get Lean Challenge.

Hi Tulips - still battling logging issues that are making me crazy! The sun is out and the new snow (just under 4" here) is melting. I got in 2 HOURS of shoveling and I am calling that good for exercise today. Bummed that I canceled a ride today to catch up on laundry and such but I have a busy week and I am a bit Type A and the entire week will go downhill if I start out behind.

I am HUNGRY. Some stress issues going on and I am a stress eater for sure. Do you all make a meal plan for the week and shop from it?

@Kalyas, have you found your way back to us again? @Earin, how do you save the boards to favorites?

@Becky, have you caught your breath and are you ready to head into a new week?

Can't wait to hear how our weekend Tulip traveler's weekend adventure was!!!!

Hi Tulips! Crazy weekend. I'm having some issues with staying logged in on sparkpeople and it's a pain to be constantly logged out and have to find my way back.

Anyway, left home this morning after ChaLean Burn Intervals and Abs in pouring rain and came home this evening after a long day of errands and it was snowing again and we will need to shovel as it's still falling.

Made homemade tomato basil soup and cannellinni bean grilled cheese - tres' yummy. Went out for sushi last night and am still well within range every day this week so being with you guys is helping in a big way. Whoohooey!

What a nice coincidence to have to educators in our small loop!

More tomorrow. I need to sit and spend some quiet time with the hubby and daughter and puppy. Our lab puppy is going to be (fingers crossed) therapy certified to be my therapy dog. She is such a sweetheart.

@Earin - my workout plan for the week is to actually do all 6 days of Turbo Fire. I have not done this the last 3 weeks and I really need to get back on track.

Food has been on the junk side lately too, so I need to work on getting that in line this week.

Becky- That's great that they are hiring you to tutor. It's definitely nice being in a school where you love it so much you want a job there. I'm at my fourth school in 7 years... YIKES! Only one of my transfers was by choice as I moved to a new city. The other two were because of budget issues. I student taught first grade and then taught fourth for two years, third for four years, and am now back in fourth again. I hope to move back to third or possibly second next year. Fingers crossed!! My mom actually teaches middle school special ed.

What's everyone's workout/fitness plan for this weekend? I am hoping to drag myself out of bed within the next ten minutes or so to go to the gym and run, then come home to start CLX Week 3. Scheduled for Burn Circuit 1 today- might add abs to it since that's the area I really want to target.

@Earin - right now I am in a middle school/high school resource room doing Special Education. After this I will be in a social studies classroom - grades 8-12. And the school is hiring me to tutor a student for the next 3 weeks! I am so excited by this. The school I am at is wonderful, so much so that I hope to be hired by them at the end of my term.

Hi Tulips! I am so sorry I have been absent. I am here, and I read the posts, but I am student teaching right now and this week has been CRAZY! I'm sick, my little boys are sick and I am just getting into the swing in my classroom.

@Earin - Turbo Fire is the newest program by Chalene. If is intense HIIT training cardio, and it is super awesome. And yes it is a Beachbody program. I have also tried Insanity - only made it through a week - and I did P90X (not my favorite. I was really disappointed with my results). I love Beachbody, I have tried or completed almost all of their programs. Turbo Fire is the one that is really changing my life though. My goal is to be in the next Turbo Fire infomercial and lose 118 pounds with the program. I feel like that will allow me to reach and inspire the most people.

I am from New York wine country - the Finger Lakes region, Western/Central New York. I grew up about an hour from where I live now. I always wanted to go to William and Mary, but didn't have the grades or SAT scores to get in. :(

@Kal - you can modify the TF workouts to keep them intense but low impact. I don't do all the jumps or high impact moves, I am not quite ready for them yet, but I am working up to it.

The last 2 weeks have been nuts for me with working out and eating right! I got bit by one of my cats and got catch scratch fever - yes it is real! - and had to get antibiotics and go to the emergency room... now my hand is better and my kids have been so sick that they are not sleeping - meaning mommy is not sleeping either... But I am ready to bring it and get back on track today and to really start bringing it next week!

Hope everyone has a great weekend, can't wait to talk to you more.

@Kalyas- welcome to Team Tulips. We are working through the kinks together. I think I understand how everything works now, so let me know what you need help with. I added our check in chat and this chat to my favorites, so I can just click them every day and respond. I am extremely competitive and want to earn points every way I can.

Kal- I cannot believe it's still snowing/icing enough to cancel school. I am sooooo ready for summer (hence the flip flops), but as a teacher would LOOOOVE another snow day. We only had 3 this year. When the snow storms kept hitting the majority of states, somehow it kept missing VA.

Where is everyone else from? We have a Maine, Canada, and VA (me). Did I miss the other two people?

I finished CLX Week 2 yesterday (can't remember if I posted that yesterday) and cannot wait to start week 3 tomorrow. I got up at 5 this morning and went to the gym to run 5 miles.

Good Morning Tulips. I was supposed to be at a series of doctor appts. this fine Michigan morning but it is an ice rink outside and I had to cancel. In fact, schools are delayed and/or cancelled. That said, I can bring it with ChaLean right? :)

@FABIOLABVALIO will send the muffin recipe in email! Have a wonderful weekend!!!! I did not finish ChaLean Extreme the first time but I think it is very doable; I just got sick and couldn't finish. I have a long term health issue and during the past 18 months or so have added onto that with some additional but we're figuring it out and I am moving forward as best I can! I LOVE ChaLean Extreme.

@Earin I think it is @Becky that is a TurboFire (yes, Beachbody) expert and I am excited to hear more from her about it because I am very interested in it. I should know about it because technically I am a Beachbody coach and I am jazzed about picking that back up and moving forward with it too after this long hibernation/absence! :) Have a great weekend. I look forward to hearing about your winter activities! They are calling for ice/snow here. :::sigh:::

@Kalyas No worries; you're here now! @Earin posted the template here and you can copy it and put it in the challenge board and fill it out. If you have questions, just ask and we'll muddle through together. You must be burning crazy calories and fat with Insanity. I commend you!

I think we have all checked in now and we can get to know each other and settle in to work this challenge and welcome summer feeling invigorated, refreshed and alive! :)

Let's bring it Tulips!!!!

@Kalyas, we were all a little lost here... You don't need to follow Chalean, you can do the exercise you like. How is Insanity going? Don't you think it is too tough?

Girls, I am going to travel tonight for the weekend, so no exercises today (except for a quick walk at my lunch time) but I hope I am going to do some winter activities tomorrow. I don't know if I will be able to log and post tomorrow...

Have a nice weekend everyone!

@SOCALKAL sorry for not logging in till now... I was actually looking for where the rules are? I know you might be thinking what kind of a person i am... I would really appreciate if you can send me the link for the pattern for the 16 week challenge.

Are we only supposed to CLX? I am in Week 5 of Insanity and was wondering if i can continue doing that and still be in the challenge...

feeling very lost about it and embarressed. You must be thinking I signed up for something I have no clue about......

@Kal, I would like the muffin recipe!

Have you re-start Chalean Extreme? The first time did you finish the program? Do you like it? I think you can have a great low-impact workout! I have a bad knee since my early teens so I am staying at low-impacts workouts too.

@Earin, I tried Insanity (I was curious to now what it was about) but I had to adapt almost everything... it is really hard and demands lots of strength and endurance. I think one day I will be able to try this one again...

I haven't tried Turbo Fire- what is that like? I have attempted the 30 Day Shred and now ChaLEAN. I saw some amazing results for Insanity on a blog and have heard great things about P90X. Is Turbo Fire a beach body program too?

Kal- I am feeling okay- still not 100% today. Even after taking a 2 1/2 hour nap yesterday and going to bed by 9:30, I still could not drag my butt out of bed this morning to do ChaLEAN. I should be doing Burn It Off and Recharge today, but depending on how I feel I may have to be reschedule for tomorrow and just take today as a rest day.

@fabbecky I think your link got cut-off when you changed your signature so I can't get to your facebook/networked blog. Is part of it missing now?

I envy you having youthful joints to do TF. I REALLY want to do it but think it would trash my already trashed knees!

Thanks for the reminder and template @earin! :) I posted my blog (we have until the 8th to do that part so you all have time).http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_pu
blic_journal.asp?id=socalkal

How are you feeling today @earin?

I made some muffins to send my husband and daughter out the door with this morning. A recipe from greenlitebites.com On the new WW plan 3 pts. 115 calories each. Hmmm....I never post recipes here, maybe I should figure it out. They are Banana Oatmeal Cups and supposedly excellent frozen too. Anyway, both my sweetie and the 8th grader who hates everything enjoyed them hot out of the oven so if you're interested; please ask and I can email the recipe.

@Fabiola have fun with ChaLean! I restarted and did Day 1 today. I was thinking of TurboFire but I think it may be too much bouncing for my joints. I have some health problems that mean I need to be a little cautious. I think I can handle Chalean right now. I also have a lab that is in training to be certified as my therapy dog. She will be a big help when she's completed her training!

Looking forward to hearing from everyone on the team.

Night all!

@Earin, good work with the blog! 100 points well gained! Even not feeling well you worked-out and did the blog! I wish I had the same will! emoticon This weekend I was not feeling well (I had a little injury in my left hand), so I relaxed with the food...

@Kal, I am a little confused about the rules too. But I think we will get it in a few days.

Now I am going to work-out! Chalean is waiting for me! See you tomorrow! emoticon

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, favorite cocktail in one hand - strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming holy sh*t - WHAT A RIDE!

Post a blog about why you joined the challenge to receive 100 bonus points. Unfortunately I won't be earning my 25 points for staying within my calorie range today. I came home from work feeling EXTREMELY nauseous. Not sure I will be eating much else today, but I did track my food, worked out, created a blog, changed my signature, and posted in our chatroom.

Yeah first names are probably easier to keep up with. I'm Earin- haven't figured out how to add it to my signature line yet. We should probably put our questions on the question board, so we all understand what to do. I think calorie range is the range it says for at the bottom of your nutrition tracker. Mine is 1460-1810 I think which is hard for me on some days. It's going to be a challenge making sure I eating at least 1460 a day.

I was a graduate of William and Mary, but was born in 81. I live just outside of Richmond now though. I actually left Williamsburg to get away from my daughter's father who is a little on the crazy side (or maybe a lot on the crazy side).

@WMCHICK81 Thanks for the boost - I'm not sure about rib "fat". Only post menopause do I have belly fat even. I've always been a pear.

Speaking of confused also....the calorie range? What's that about. And perhaps we're supposed to post that kind of ?'s on the main board. I want to start off understanding so I don't become behind and give up before we start you know?

Maybe we should exchange first names except from the screen names that might be a problem since my no kidding first name is Kal and there is another Kal in the group.

I'm guessing William & Mary Chick and you graduated in '81? Where do you live in VA? I have a wonderful friend who teaches in Fairfax County. Lives in Prince William County. My son went to school in Montclair K/1-3 in PWC. We're military can you tell? :)

@SoCalKal- you are only as old as you feel, so by the end of this 16 week challenge just think how young you will be :-) I also am a little confused how this is actually going to work.

More being completely honest- I am happy with my weight HOWEVER I absolutely hate my stomach. After having my daughter I cannot seem to get rid of the fat around my midsection and my ribs. I mean really?!?!?! Rib fat??? I have done cardio, cardio, and more cardio because targetting an area supposedly doesn't work. I'm not even sure how you would target your rib area. I am hoping the strength training in ChaLEAN will help since I have NEVER done strength training. Hopefully the muscle I gain will help burn away that fat...

Are we suppose to comment to everyone to get the points for today? Anyone know?

On a side note Tulips, LET'S DO THIS! Let's go Tulips, Let's go!! (I cheered for four years in high school) emoticon

Good Morning emoticon Today is the first day of our challenge and I am jazzed albeit a bit confused about the challenge details and getting it all "right" Susan said be up front and honest from the start. A bit about myself. I see I am the old lady in the group. Only recently have I come to feel like that old fat lady in the room and I hate it. While I have always had some weight issues, I always saw myself as different than the lady with the floppy arms and double knees and never was going to be that winded person that I now see I may just well become. I have always had issues being self deprecating and that was bad enough but add menopause and some pretty serious recent health issues that I am dealing with and I am up 45 pounds from my WW Lifetime and where I was fit and fine and felt amazing. We lived in SoCal and I was a marathon walking coach. I belonged to a gym that was family. Now we live in MI and I have no friends. I HATE the cliquish gym. Suffice it to say this challenge is ME on my own. What I do have is a desire to get back to the ME I was not THAT long ago to the extent that I can. I am enrolled in Tour De Cure Michigan in June for a start. I am challenging myself to do an indoor triathlon in November at Lifetime Fitness. I spin 45-60 minutes a day. Today I start Chalean again. I am here with you and I am IN. Bring it! I'm ok with being the Mom, ok Grandmom of the group. I'm a great cheerleader and listener with a lot of life experience. I look forward to being part of this group.

Hello Tulips! emoticon

My name is Becky, I am 33, married mother to two boys - 3yrs and 18mths. I am currently in my last (hopefully) semester of college and getting my degree in Adolescent Social Studies and Special Education. I am currently student teaching in a special education resource room and totally in love with it!

I am busy with school and my boys and figuring out where I am going to be in 6 months (hopefully teaching somewhere near by!) And I am trying to make myself a priority. I am doing Turbo Fire right now, but I will start ChaLEAN in when I finish TF, and then do a hybrid of the 2. I love TF, it is the best program I have ever done. I am also looking forward to spring so I can take my spiffy jogging stroller out on my beautiful country roads and restart my C25K training.

Hey fellow Tulips! My name is Earin, and I am a 29 year old single mom who lives in Virginia. I have a beautiful five year old daughter who means the world to me. I cannot remember what life was like before she was born. She can be a handful, but she is sweet, beautiful, and incredibly smart. I am a teacher to a group of 29 rowdy fourth graders. I love working with kids, and this is my 7th year teaching.

Hmmm.... what else?? I am a cardio junkie who was previously ADDICTED to the elliptical- I was unwilling to try anything else and would do 60-90 minutes on the elliptical 5 days a week. In the summer I decided to venture out of my comfort level and started the Couch 2 5K program on my iPod Touch. I have developed a love for running- though I am not very fast and still cannot run for very long. I am in my second week of Chalean Extreme and hope to get through the program before summer... haven't missed a day yet!

This is where you will meet on a daily basis to offer encouragement and/or support to your fellow buddies. Spend some time getting to know your teammates. Being open and honest with each other is the best way to really get to know each other, and to be supportive which is what this is all about.

To reply to a specific persons’ post, I find it best using @USERNAME (or first name as you get to know each other).

Depending on who actually ends up participating (sometimes people sign up with the best of intentions, and then end up not participating, or have to leave, or can’t participate for a few days or a week which is perfectly acceptable), the total monthly points will be averaged by the number of participants in each team. Right now we have nine teams with 6 buddies, and one team with 5 buddies.

The first 4-week challenge (TEAM NAME: GET LEAN WKS 1-4 CHALLENGE) starts on Wednesday, March 2. Below is the link to your first 4-Week Challenge (Wed., March 2 through Tuesday, March 29). NOTE: Do WHAT you can WHEN you can.

I’ve included a template that you will copy and paste into a reply. ONE TEMPLATE PER TEAM MEMBER ONLY!

Each month, you’ll total your monthly points by 1:00PM CENTRAL STANDARD TIME the day after the end of each challenge (WEDNESDAY). Sometime that afternoon, I will go in and log your monthly points. I’ll make a post in the “ChaLEAN EXTREME CHALLENGES forum” (see link below), announcing that the next challenge has been posted. Since you know your team name, the challenges will be named “TEAM NAME: GET LEAN WKS #-# CHALLENGE”, so you’ll have to look through the link below to find the next challenge. I suggest that you add each current challenge as a favorite, as well as your CHAT ROOM.
