Hi team!!

I'm FINALLY getting a minute to check in ..... taking a minute is more like it; if I waited till I HAD a minute I might never be back LOL I am SOOOOOOO sorry I've been AWOL! I've been crazy busy since returning from Pittsburgh & about to lose it but then I'm scatter brained anyway; that's all that keeps me sane LOL

Susan, I am so sorry you had to leave the team & ultimately cancel the challenge but I completely understand. I just now found out; obviously haven't been on here to even see the challenge had been canceled.

Here I've been feeling so guilty for not finding time to check in. I was almost relieved to see the challenge had been canceled but only cuz I don't remember a time I've ever backed out of anything I've committed to.

Like you, Susan, I find myself overwhelmed & was considering explaining that I shouldn't have committed with all that's on my plate & making apologies.

Andrea, let me know how you like your shoes. Funny, I was just googling info on "neutral" running shoes last night; I love mine but am wondering if they could be attributing to my problems. They're a new version of my regular/favorite shoe.

Anne, I'm sorry you had a bad weekend but am glad things are looking up for you!! Never give up; there will always be set backs! What's important is that we keep moving forward! As long as we do, we'll reach our goals!!

The weekend was fabulous; met soooooo many Sparkers & had a blast BUT... unfortunately I was in pain for the entire 13.1 miler & am still limping :( wasn't smart to run it but what's done is done & I've grounded myself till further notice. Will see my Phys Therapist again 2morrow.

B4 this becomes a book LOL I'll get off here. With demands at work; extra hours added to help w/ college expenses, YMCA obligations, Son off to college for a visit this weekend & paperwork for transferring there + his apartment lease (& that's just a START) emoticon I'm going to sit out of any challenge for a while but my DD is staying with me this week so we can both get our eating & fitness plan in order so I'm on task... just no time to record it right now.

Feel free to drop me a SMail or visit my SPage anytime!! And I'll do the same. So glad I met each of you and look forward to continuing to encourage one another as we share the Spark!!

Be safe; be well & be happy!!!!

Keep the Spark burnin'!!!

Hi Andrea -- I hope you had a great day at work. It sounds like your workouts are very productive.

I started to do TF Sculpt 30 tonight and I do NOT like that workout. I don't really like Tone 30, either. After doing CLX, I realize that I really like working with the weights instead of the bands. So, I did about half of the Sculpt then decided to do HIIT 15.

So, tomorrow is a new day. Have a great one, Bears!!

Hi Bears!

Anne- I'm glad you are feeling better. It's so much better to feel energized!

I did LC2 this morning and plan on going home, cooking dinner then going to the tanning bed and to run! Had quite a day here..alot of lunatic customers! I'll be glad to leave in 17 minutes!

Have a great night!

Happy Monday, Bears!

It wasn't a very good weekend for several reasons that I don't want to get into here. Today was better and things are looking up. I don't feel like working out and just want to be a lazy sloth.

Andrea -- Send me some of your motivation. Please!!!! I do agree that TF 45 is tiring. Sometimes that workout feels like it's never going to end.

Susan -- I'm sorry to hear that you're leaving. I understand, though. Your work and life must come first.

Hey ladies!

I had a pretty darn good weekend! Had a trip to the barn, got in 2 good workouts and got to hang out w/ my friends and watch basketball. I got up and did TF 45 this morning. This is a fun workout but pretty tiring!

Susan- I totally understand about having to put other things first. Keep on working out and we'll see you when life gets back to normal!

Anne- I had to get back into my groove also. Don't give up and just reset your mind!

Have a great Monday!

I'm deleting my Challenge template due to my lack of participation and leaving the Care Bears. You still have 4-5 members, so you'll do fine. I'll get the next challenge up hopefully this evening.

I haven't worked out since Tuesday, and have put in about 40 hours on this project since I get the revisions on Thursday. I'm through, other than I need four more photos. I need to print it and proof it, sent it to print, drop off the hard copy and pick up the figure descriptions so I can do the Table of Contents and List of Illustrations.

I have learned a lesson from this though. No more procrastinating on work projects. My plan now is to work a minimum of four hours a day, workout daily, do some scrap challenges (haven't entered one in over a month), so SPARK is taking a distant back seat in my world for now. I'll still keep up with everyone through the "friend feed" and other ways, but something has to ease up and limiting my time on SP is what it's got to be.

Hey Bears!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. This weekend was not productive for me, at all. I haven't worked out all weekend and my calorie intake has been off the charts!! I'll be back in the groove tomorrow, though.

Andrea -- Sounds like you've had a great weekend. I so need to get new shoes but I hate buying athletic shoes. I hope you had a great time hanging with your friends.

Susan -- How's progress on your project? I hope you got it done.

Well, Girls, have a great Monday!

Hey ladies!

I hope you are all having a good weekend. Today hasn't been as productive as yesterday but pretty fun. I went to Dick's and got some new shoes. I'm excited to try those out. I got a pair of Mizuno Rider 10's. So far so good but I need to take them out on a good run. Was going to do some strength training but I'm kind of sore..I'm guessing from kick yesterday. I took an allergy pill b/c I was sneezing and stuff earlier. I'm starting to feel better. I think goal will just be some light strength training today b/c my friends are coming over later for basketball and lasagna!

Have a great day!

I took a break to update my status.

I'm working hard to finish this project. Just did my first 4-page table using Adobe Illustrator. Hope the rest goes faster so I don't have to work on Sunday.

Hey ladies!

Well I'm having a good Saturday so far. I went to kick class which was awesome and then grocery shopping..fun stuff :) I think I'm going to head to the barn soon to get a horse ride in. And then it's baskeball time.

Susan- I hope you get everything done! And I totally understand about having to have no distractions when it's time to focus. Have fun w/ your daughter!

Courtney- I'm proud you decided to do BC1 instead of going out w/ your friends! I know that is hard b/c you want to have/see your friends but they make such unhealthy decisions and have bad habits it is sometimes hard to have friends and be healthy. Don't be to scared by turbo fire. It's actually alot of fun and a great workout. There is a part of every cd where she breaks down the routines for those of us "new to class." I highly recommend it!

I hope everyone has a great Saturday. Not sure what my plan is for tomorrow. I"m winging it. Oh..and I DID go to the gym after work yesterday and ran my intervals. My ankle held up well which I'm thankful for!

Hellooooo Ladies!

Well, it's getting late, but I am happy to report that instead of going out drinking with some friends, I decided to come home and get my BC1 completed! I have a big family to-do tomorrow, and I know there will be no time for working out and lots of tempting and delicious food to enjoy. So although I could have added a whack of calories to my day, I think one day out of the weekend is probably a better route to take.

Anne - I envision that very scenario happening to me if I ever even attempted Turbo Fire lol. That one and Insanity scare the pants off of me.

Susan - sounds like you are hoppin' over there! Sending productivity vibes your way!

Andrea - I'd like to borrow a little bit of that determination to work out if I could? hahaha I know I feel amazing after I work out, it's the pushing play part that stymies me the most right now!

I won't be checking back in until probably Monday. These revisions are as bad as doing the original. I'm now having to retype a four-page table because if it existed I can't find it. So I have to not spark at all until I'm through, and if I can finish it by tomorrow, Sunday I'm going over to my daughter's to talk wedding stuff, even though she's decided it will probably be fall. So if I'm not through by Sunday, I'll at least go over for an hour to see her ring and visit just a bit. I'm going to try to work as late as I can tonight, and then make a point to get up early in the morning, no e-mail and no internet until I'm through. Have a good weekend!

Hey ladies!

Well I have my bag packed in my car & I'm going to go to the gym on the way home. I don't care if I have to shut off my cell phone until after I'm done. I will workout!! I'm that determined. If nothing else I learned this week that I don't like myself when I don't exercise. I'm kind of depressing. And I also learned that Ryan likes me better too..he's like why haven't you been exercising and doing things. I said b/c I wanted to spend time w/ him. And he goes that's fine but you aren't being you when you aren't out and about :) I'm glad he understands..finally! So next week I'm sure will be better.

Susan- AWESOME that you daughter is engaged! I'm sure she's totally excited. I know I will be :) I hope you got your project done so you can have a nice weekend!I'm sure it will be a great feeling to have both kids out and on their own w/ great spouses.

Autumn- Welcome to the team! I'm glad you decided to come back. This is a great team and I enjoy checking in everyday. I really need to kick my butt into gear also!

Courtney- Turbo Jam workouts are awesome. And it's just the right amt of cardio. I might do some cardio party this weekend! It just puts you in a happy mood!

Anne- Those HIIT workouts are extremely exhausting! It's amazing what 25 minutes can do so GOOD JOB for finishing it! I'm so glad we don't have to watch ourselves exercise! I couldn't do it!

So my goal for today/the weekend is to make a list of workouts that I can do w/in 30-40 minutes. So I can't use the excuse of "I don't have enough time." The Core 20, TF20, Bum Bum rapido and a couple others I can think of. I don't have any trouble getting up for LC1,2 or 3. I think that might help. I only really have from 6:30-7 to workout.

Have a great Friday!!

You probably won't hear from me again until tomorrow morning because I've got to have the revisions (a bunch of them too) done on this project by first thing Monday morning. Hoping I can get it all done today, but not sure.
I do plan to workout today but no promises. I typically like to do 40m cardio/20-40m st or ab workout, but this project is about all I can think of right now, then I need to get my taxes done. And I want to do a scrap design so bad. I haven't done one since I changed my page for March.
Thanks to all for your congratulations on my daughter's engagement. I'm just so happy for her. At least I'm not involved in my son's wedding. All I have to do is show up.

@Autumn, glad to see you here with us! Don't forget, if you want to, to change your sig line and add your first name, and team name.
I hear you about "life getting in the way". I keep letting other things get in the way of my workouts too.

@Courtney, hope you can get over your junk food phase soon. If you don't change your diet, basically your workouts aren't going to work as well. I asked my daughter via e-mail yesterday, but she didn't answer yet. I hope that we can get together soon and go over everything. She's as busy as I am, taking Portuguese classes since they'll most likely be living in Brazil when her fiance finishes his PhD, and the rest of her time is spent working at the college pool teaching swim lessons and life guarding.

@Anne, TF is tough. I tried it but returned it. I can jump some, but I do not see how they jump and get their legs bent up to their butt.

Happy Friday!

Autumn -- Welcome to the team! You'll find lots of support here.

Susan -- Congrats to your daughter and her fiance! Oh, the stress of two weddings! One is usually bad enough. It's great that she wants a small ceremony then you can have a big party. :)

Courtney -- Although CLX is strength training, it did get my heart a pumpin'. By the time I finished the circuits, I was usually sweating like crazy. I have been doing more of the TJ videos lately and I forgot how good those workouts really are.

Deej -- Have FUN this weekend whether you're racing or not. It's always nice to connect with friends.

Not too much to report on my end. I got in the TF 25 HIIT last night and thought I was going to die. My legs just wouldn't jump and arms wouldn't move in the directions I was telling them to go. LOL. It was probably pretty pathetic to watch. Ah well, today is another day.

Have a great one, Ladies.

Autumn - Welcome to the team, sounds like you have a plan!

Susan - that's a lovely idea, an outdoor wedding in a gazebo. None of you had any idea? When are you going to ask your daughter about the invitation design 'job'?

Andrea - I like that you are working around the ankle. I skipped working out last night because of my back, but I probably could have gone for a walk or something. I have a lot of that "all or nothing" programming to change too!

Deej - what's up with the ankle? You bringing your runners or your pompoms with you on the trip? Either way, have a great time!

Anne - I can't even start to make it through Burn It Off! My heart rate goes WAY over what it should and I feel like I'm gonna DIE. I think I need to look at more Turbo Jam workouts for cardio, but I am also using a gazelle (it tucks under my bed after! tidy!) Oh, btw the Sweet Gumballs look neat. But why are they called sweet?

SO I am struggle with food in some interesting ways. The first way is that I am eating junk. And loving it. I'm within my calories, and usually my macros on most days, but MY GOD when I am looking over my logs at the end of the day, I really see the little-miss-self-destruct mode popping up.

I'm a few calories under (72) tonight, and I am skipping my BC 1 until tomorrow. Partly because I am sore (which is because I blew off my glutamine after BC3) and partly because I just don't wanna.

I did do 30 minutes on the Gazelle while I watched some netflix.

Hello team. I know I'm late, but I'm just getting back into the swing of things. I've been MIA for about a month now and feel guilty. Buuut, I'm back now and am ready to get this body beach ready. :)
Let me formally introduce myself,
I'm Autumn. I'm 23, from Michigan. I have a four year old son, Landon. I work full time and am looking into vocational schools. I love baseball, running(but mostly on the treadmill), reading, writing. I love anything outdoors, except fishing. :) I'll try almost anything once.
I have ChaLEAN Extreme, but after two weeks I stopped. Not because I didn't like it, but for other 'life' reasons. I plan to start back up on Monday. I'm also borrowing Hip Hop Abs from a friend, so maybe my results will be amazing. :)
My goal is to lose 20-25 pounds by June 1. I'd like to lose a total of 50 pounds.
My weight has been fluctuating as of late, but I'm ready to kick in gear and watch those numbers on the scale, and inches, go down.
Glad to be a part of this team. I'm going to give it 110%, and that's a promise!

My daughter is engaged! emoticon Happened last night. Jonathan came home early, which wasn't normal, and said "Let's go out to dinner". So she went to her closet to find something to wear. He came in and said "I Love You". She turned around and hugged him, and then he got down on his knee and proposed. That means I have TWO weddings this year. My son is getting married on October 14. They haven't set a date yet, but it will be before October. My son is 29, and daughter will be 27 in April. She's been with her BF for four years, and will be moving to Sau Paulo, Brazil late this year when he finishes his PhD in Physics.

Luckily, she wants a simple one, but she said his parents would help pay. She's going to let me help her pick out her dress. Then I mentioned her colors too, and she's like "what for?" I said, "you have to have a bouquet." She'd like to just do it at the court house, but he'd like something a little bigger, so she's thinking about a gazebo they have on campus that's free, outside (which would be wonderful), and we'd just have to get chairs, and then have a reception somewhere afterward. We were afraid they'd get married in California, where his parents live, but her family is here so that's where it will be.

I'm hoping she'll let me design the invitations. I'm so excited I can hardly contain myself! Her engagement ring is a single round solitaire in a square setting, and it looks to be pretty big from the photo she sent.

Hey ladies!

Well last night go rearranged again. It went from me going to kick to parents coming over to see us and Ryan and I going to the pet store and getting pizza. Some nights/weeks you just can't win! These last 2 weeks of March it has just been one thing after another. I can't get ahead and am barely staying afloat! I'm sure you guys can relate.

Anne- It is hard to have good eating habits and mine are somtimes I do..sometimes I don't still. I'm going to have to do Burn it Off again. I haven't done that one in a while. Good job though..I'm sure it's a tough one.

Deej- I'm happy to report that I think my ankle is better. I will have to try a run on Friday. If you weren't in greater pain the more you went then it's probably something minor. Are you taking an anti-inflammatory? Good luck! I hope Pittsburgh is warm for you!

Susan- I think I will try BBL this weekend if not sooner. I miss Leandro..he is hilarious. I'm very interested to see what tummy tuck is like.

I guess I will just take this week as a rest week to get my ankle back in shape. I'm still in good shape to hit my 1,000 minute goal. I only have like 150 left and 7 days left in march. I also need to get it in my head that it's ok to do 1/2 a program. Ex: If I wanted to do one round of P90X chest/back in the morning that is better than nothing and still a ton of pushups! Or do one round of everything in shoulders/arms. I have this mindset that if I can't do it all then it isn't a legitimate workokut. I need to work on that!

Have a great Thursday and TGIF tomorrow!

Andrea M.

Good Morning Everyone!!

Susan, I've had similar issues this week; several cases assigned, clients calling, office emailing & trying to run errands & pack. Getting workouts in has been tougher but I'm determined :) took cpl days off this week to rest the foot & will have trouble tracking while out of town but I'll get right back on track (so to speak) once I return & will make wise choices while away (all things considered)

Showering in a bit for my PT appt then GS n I are going to meet DS (his Daddy) for lunch. Check back later....

Susan, I'll check out that new thread & report in :) It does get harder to keep the commitment as time goes on. I don't have as much trouble DOING IT as I do finding time to RECORD IT :)

Happy, safe day ALL!

Good morning girls! I had all intentions of working out yesterday, but then Jim C called asking about Part 4, said he would be out of town Friday through part of next week, so I HAD to get that done and sent to be printed so hopefully he'll have time to proof it before he leaves. The entire project turned out to be 60 pages, but probably 25-50% are pages with full size figures. Anyway, he said there are a LOT of revisions because some of the text is wrong, paragraphs missing. I told him I used the text I was given, but being that it was typed 8 years ago, and the lady isn't there anymore, who knows where the revised copies are. We'll see when I meet with him today, because his vision of a LOT is usually over exaggerated.
I have a pile of mail I haven't opened in a week, so I need to get to that. None of them are bills...I'm not that deft. but I still need to get my desk organized and tidied up, because I'll need to get started on my taxes.

I'm going to do my BBL Bum Bum & Tummy Tuck again today. I did it Tuesday, and yesterday my hamstrings were sore, but nothing in the ab area. Then last night I went to sit up in bed and definitely felt it. This morning my quads are sore, so I'll be doing it today, and then next week move onto CLX PUSH, hopefully adding in some cardio before on the ST days.

@Courtney, the last week of each phase are the hardest to get through. Not because they're tough, but because I'm bored with them, which is why it took me 8 weeks to get through 4 weeks of BURN. As long as you keep doing it, even if it takes longer, you'll be fine. Just do SOMETHING if you don't do CLX. I'm the same as you...I get motivated and then think "ahh, not today". Well, if I do that two days in a row, before I know it three-four days have gone by with no workout. One thing I've found that helps, as after I workout, I use the SP Appointment. I set to have an appointment sent to me the next day, and I type in there a message to me as if someone else were talking to me. So far it's worked, and sometimes I get really tough in what I write...like "get off your butt you lazy girl!"

@Deej, be sure to keep us updated on your appointments about your ankle.

@Anne, BBL is a funny name, but trust me it doesn't make your butt bigger, it makes it tighter.
I'm the same with you on the cardio...endurance is WAY down. Try adding in a short cardio workout on the ST days. Do you have Turbo Jam? They have a short 20-minute one that's good, and then a really good 30-minute one with four turbos. Now THAT i can get through without hitting pause. But BBL Bum Bum...wow what a workout. I highly recommend it because the Tummy Tuck is the best ab workout ever, and it also has a 40-minute sculp that's really good too.

@Andrea, that's right, you did have a "free" weekend. Oh, you HAVE to do tummy tuck. It's awesome...way better than the CLX ab workouts in my opinion. The sculpt is good too...well they're all good but I do NOT like Cardio Axe. Tried it twice and just didn't get it. I prefer the TJ cardio over that one anyday.

Hi Anne, getting much cooler here too :( hard to give up the nice temps! Haven't heard from the Doc yet; see his PT in the morning. Ran 4 miles tonight @ a moderate pace. Ankle hurt some but no worse at mile 4 than at mile 1. Will see what Doc & his PT say & make a decision from there but it will be fun even if I have to run a shorter distance or just cheer friends on.

Andrea, the race is in Pittsburgh. I ran a half with many Sparkers in Miami at the end of January. A lot of fun & a great winter get-a-way.

Susan, glad the project's done. Sounds like you're very busy.

Actually, I know we ALL are :)

Much to do before leaving Friday...

Y'all have a wonderful night & a productive, active tomorrow :)

Good Evening Bears,
I hope everyone had a wonderful Wednesday. It's getting colder here and there's even a chance for flurries. Grrr. We had such wonderful weather the past few days and I miss it already. Anywho, I just struggled through my workout ( CLX Burn it Off and Extreme Abs). I am not getting any better at getting through the cardio. I still have to pause to catch my breath and grab a drink. Also, my nose runs like faucet when I'm doing cardio so I have to stop and wipe it. What a pain! I've also struggled a bit with my calories. Half of the time I just have the "ah, f**k it attitude" and the other half I'm strong and in control. Ahh well, one of these days I'll figure it out.

Courtney -- The hardest part to a workout, for me, is pressing the play button. It's the mental block that is the proverbial mountain to climb. Below is a link to a picture of a gum ball. They are the size of golf balls and there everywhere. The wind was super strong today so my yard is covered even more.
http://www.ephemeron.net/wp-content/uplo
ads/sweet_gum_ball.jpg

Susan -- The title of Brazil Butt Lift just cracks me up. I laugh just saying the name. My butt is big enough so I don't need to add fuel to that fire. LOL. It sounds like you are making great progress with your work. Keep it up!!

Deej -- What did you find out about your ankle? I hope it's nothing serious. I'm sure you'll still have a great time with your Spark friends this weekend.

Andrea -- It's easy to think that our relationships will run themselves but they take work and a lot of it. It's good, though, that you recognize that you need time with him and he needs time with you. emoticon

Have a great evening ladies and I'll "see" you tomorrow.

Hey Care Bears!

Well I've learned that I like chilling at home and spending time with Ryan..lol. Which is good but also bad b/c then I don't exercise or go to the barn. But I think since he was gone all weekend I was Ryan deprived :)

But I'm going to kick tonight to test out the ankle. I'm excited..haven't been to kick in about 2 weeks. I've been rotating b/n step and kick once a week. It's to hard to do step/kick/barn/running all the time. And that is why Ryan and I were having problems when I was gone all the time. So I kind of had to repriortize and since I did that we are doing alot better! The trials and tribulations of young couples :)

Susan- sounds like you have a good start to your project. I also love BBL. I'm going to start that into my rotation in May. But I might sneak in a Bum Bum or try the tummy tuck. I haven't tried that yet and am always looking for good ab workouts!

Courtney- I can't sing either but it sure is fun to try! I sang the Chuck Berry song "my ding a ling" BUT it has a story behind it. My friend Jerry was out w/ us one night and I had no money left (imagine that) and told him if he gave me $1 that he could pick the song. Well he did and I sang it so when we saw him this past Saturday I told him I would sing it again. Sam (Kim's boyfriend) was cracking up and I think he videotaped me on his cell phone. I had to lighten up the party!

Deej- I hope you have tons of fun hanging out w/ your sparkies! And I hope you are cleared to run. Take lots of pictures! Where is the race again?

Have a great Wednesday!

Andrea M.

Courtney, emoticon emoticon Good for YOU! I was going to suggest that you commit to YOURSELF to put the DVD in for just 5 mins (or 10 if you think that's best, you KNOW you), and then if you're not "feelin' it", you can do something else, like maybe a few sets of push-ups n some jumping jacks. Typically once you start, you're good to go and if not, having a back-up set of exercises will typically lead you to add on & get in at least a brief workout. Forming the habit is key :)

And thanks for your concern :) I've had a chronic issue with my ankles (mostly left, & mostly just sore post run), but my right ankle hurt terribly during a run last Friday so decided to get professional advice b4 racing this weekend. He doesn't think it's sprained or that I have a stress fracture based on preliminary exam but we both agreed I needed it x-rayed to be sure; taking no chances. He sent me to a radiologist who specializes in Sports Injuries (didn't know there was such a thing:); will have results today. Will make the trip regardless; looking 4ward to hanging w/ Spark pals!! Have raced with many of them b4 :)

Anne, Turbo Jam IS a great workout. I don't own TF (YET:) but will prob add it to my library one of these days. Have P90X & bought Insanity for my son & I to share; he just finished it. Wanted me to do it with him but can't do that + train for racing although I did do a workout with him one Saturday, it was fun :)

Susan, good luck finalizing the project; sounds like you're on top of it!! Always thought BBL sounded interesting :) I could use a booty lift; all goes South with age!! LOL

Ann, NYC sounds like a blast! We've never been there either :) applied to run the Marathon there this fall but chances are very low I'll make the lottery for it. Bet the kids ARE hard to corral right now; even the teachers are prob ancy for a break!! Have FUN!

Crazy busy finishing cases & making appts on schedule b4 leaving town. Will try to check in later but in the meantime, y'all have a FABULOUS & ACTIVE day!!

Susan - congrats on finishing up Burn! I've never quite made it to the end of the 4 weeks, but I think that will change soon!

Andrea - ah! Karaoke and drinks, my fav combination! I'm terrible but I have fun! What did you sing? Glad to hear your ankle is feeling better.

Deej - what's up with the sports doc appt? Are you going to be able to race?

Melanie - sorry to hear things are stressful, but maybe the next challenge will be right for ya!

Ann - New York sounds like fun. I would like to go one of these days, but I have to wait for my money tree to sprout some cash lol

Anne - I have no idea what a sweet gum tree is? Sounds like a workout just trying to clean the yard up lol

Anyway, I have come up against that SAME phenomena where at the end of 2 weeks, I stop working out, tracking, thinking losing permanently is possible etc. etc.

What I have done a little differently is that I am continuing to track my calories, and I have been walking to and from work, but still, I am 2 days overdue for BC3. And this is where it always gets to! I was dressed and ready for the workout Sun, Mon and even now as I type, I just don't get why I can't press play.

Arghh. Frustrating that I am my own worst enemy.

Anyway, I don't want to lose my chance for the points for activity today as well, so I think after I put my little guy to bed, I will throw in the dvd and give it a go!

*Just finished BC3, thought you might want to know* :)

Thought I'd go ahead and check in while my computer installs an update. InDesign got slow, so I just closed down. I have one section left to add the figures to on my project, and then for the most part I'm through while it gets proofed. I'll still need to do the references, and Table of Contents, but I'll be done with all of that tomorrow.

Today I did BBL (Brazil Butt Lift) Bum Bum & Tummy Tuck. If you're looking for a great ab workout BBL Tummy Tuck is killer...20 minutes long! I did BBL for one week after I'd taken a break during BURN, and it really helped in building up my cardio endurance, as well as my strength in my abs and all over. I'm going to continue this for a week and then hopefully start PUSH next week. I had to push "pause" three times during Bum Bum. It's cardio, but also lots of squats and lunges. Awesome workout for my quads too.

@Deej, I bet the kids are restless. How exciting...New York City! That's awesome...you'll have so much fun!

@Anne, thanks for voting for me! Your Sweet Gum sounds as much trouble as my Magnolia tree was. That's why we cut it down...leaves feel every day during summer. Raking leaves is bad enough when spring starts, but to have to rake every week during summer was just nuts! I LOVE TJ! PKJ is my favorite.
Well, I just did half of BC2 cause I didn't finish it last time. I was sore this morning, but I still worked out.

@Andrea, Glad the ankle is feeling better, and thanks for voting again and again!

Well, time to get back to work on the project. Almost through with this one.

Hey ladies!

I didn't do anything last night or this morning. I watched tv last night...Dancing w/ the stars and Castle. As much as I love my shows I don't miss them much in the summer! And that is probably why I exercise more in the summer. Ankle is feeling better. I might go to kick tomorrow to see how it holds up. I'm definitely not doing to much to fast. But icing it really helped.

Anne- I have been thinking about doing a TJ workout soon. I love the kickin core w/ the ball. They are great workouts!

Susan- I voted for you! And good luck. I hope you win, you deserve it!

Ann- I'm sure the kids are restless. Spring break is so exciting (when you get one..lol). And that's awesome that you get to go to NYC.

Well just wanted to check in. Have a great Tuesday!

Hello All,
Sorry I've been MIA for the past couple of days. It seems that once the warm weather makes me super busy doing outside work and cleaning. The hubby and I have been working on a boat that was/is my mom and dad's and trying to get it ready for the season. I have two huge Sweet Gum trees in my front yard that are dropping their bountiful harvest (gum balls AKA ankle twisters) all over the ground. I raked some of them Sunday but the trees are still loaded so my raking was kinda pointless. If anything, I got a small workout in. :) I have been getting my workouts in and yesterday I did TJ Kickin' Core. Turbo Jam is not as tough as TF but I still get quite a sweat going from those workouts.

Susan - Good luck on your contest. I am getting my votes in for you. Good job on doing two Burn circuits on the same day. I am usually wiped out from one of them so I can't imagine doing two. I liked the Burn circuits but loved the Push circuits. The extra heavy weights was so challenging.

Deej -- I hope your ankle holds up so you can join your friends in the race. It sounds like you're going to be busy this week with work and the grandson. Hanve fun with him and the ducks.

Melanie -- Sorry to hear that you're going to be leaving us. The most important thing is to take care of yourself first then everything else will fall into place. Keep your chin up!!

Andrea -- I hope your ankle is feeling better also. It looks like you're making great progress with the workouts.

Ann -- The week before vacation always feel like the longest week. The days just seem to drag on and on. Hopefully, that's not the way for you!

Hi all:
It's fun to see what types of workouts you are doing!
Deej, we lived in a Pittsburgh when our girls were young...I love that place! We are still big Steelers fans, even though we now live in Browns country!
This is the last week of school before spring break, and the natives are restless...hope it goes fast! We are going to head to NYC for the first time next week...my kids are so excited to see the BIG city!

Melanie, I completely understand, not that long ago I was a YOUNG wife & Mommy :) no higher calling on earth & your family is your top priority!! Be blessed Sweetie! Such a pleasure to meet you & I'll be sure to drop by occasionally for a visit! Feel free to do the same!

Susan, good for you & CONGRATS on heading to the next level! Great plan :) I'm heading to Pittsburgh to race with nearly 50 other Sparkers. The race offers a variety of distances. I registered for the half marathon (13.1 miles) but may be on the sidelines; have some pain in one ankle & if it doesn't improve; I won't push it. I have a few more half marathons + a relay scheduled; not worth the risk. I'll go anyway, just to cheer my Spark friends on :)

I voted for you and signed up for email reminders :) Wish ya the best of luck!!

I am officially through with CLX BURN. I did 1/2 of BC2 and all of BC3 this morning, so for the next few days I'm going to do a BBL combo to get my abs stronger, and improve my cardio, then I'll start on PUSH.
Thanks for the encouragement and votes in my business competition. I'll be finishing up my project, hopefully today.

@Andrea, way to go Andrea! Glad the ankle is a bit better. Have fun shoe shopping.

@Melanie, I totally understand. It is a lot of work, and I'm on three of them. Keep in touch here whenever you want.
God Speed to you, as well.

@Deej, Where are you going and when to do you leave? Is it a business or pleasure trip?

GOOD FOR YOU Andrea!! Both great workouts! :) glad the ankle's better. Same here, ice n ibuprofin + compression socks :) some better. Have appt w/ Sports Doc tomorrow.

And yeah, they didn't bring our 2 yr old cuz I still have to work (bummer)! Had 5 cases assigned after a co-worker was hospitalized *& have to get them submitted b4 leaving town. Will take some time off at some point, however, to take him to "our" lake where we feed the ducks :)

Keep up the good work girl! Spring FINALLY has sprung!! emoticon A great idea to usher it in with some awesome workouts!

Morning, all!

I'm kinda sad to be posting this, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to pull myself out of this challenge. :( I am just having to simplify my life right now, as I am too overwhelmed by putting too much on my plate and I just need to pull back on the reins a bit, so to speak. It shouldn't be stressful and I shouldn't feel bad for not being able to come chat and keep up, but I do. :( I truly enjoyed "meeting" you all and I'm sure I will be in touch here and there. Please keep me in your prayers and I will do the same. And feel free to drop by my page from time to time and I will likewise. :)

be blessed, all! And "God speed" in all you do!!!

Hey ladies!

I got up and did Core 20 this morning! It's part of my spring is here push! Tomorrow will be p90x. I figured best to give my arms a rest today.

Deej- Well have fun with your grandson! 6 yr olds are pretty cool. Big enough to not be babied all the time but old enough to have their own ideas I'm sure!

My ankle is feeling better today. I iced it basically all night last night and took some ibuprofen. Hopefully that will make it better. I'm planning on buying new running shoes asap.

Have a great day!

Courtney, walking around town with friends is the best way to get in a workout :)

Andrea, Wow are you ever the Energizer Bunny!! That's so cool :) I like all the CLX workouts; they're quality!

Susan, I hope you win :) how COOL is that!!

Leg's a little better; will see a Sports Doc tomorrow. Thanks for the well wishes :) a good day. Hubby & I got out in the sun for awhile then went to church tonight. It has been beautiful here!

My Grandsons are 6 & 2 (brothers). The 2 yr old will be at Daycare but 6 yr old is on Spring Break. My Son can work at home part of the week & probably will. My Daughter-in-Law just started a new job so likely won't try to take off. We're all typically in Florida this week each year for a huge 100+ fam reunion with all my cousins; we book most of an entire hotel in Melbourne but we opted out this year. When my 6 yr old GS was very tiny he always worked out with me; I always make it fun & he loves it although at this age; he's done after abt 10 mins & ready to play Transformers LOL

He won't be here all week; just now & then. Have to accompany my Mom to a Doc appt tomorrow at some point + see my Doc.

Better go for now. Need to turn in early & get some case work done early in the morning. Food in line but just stretching throughout the day. No cardio. Strength training with bands last night.

Hey Bears!

Well I had an awesome time w/ my friend Kim last night. I sang some karaoke and didn't even drink that much. Haha. I did LC2 yesterday and LC3 today which I know is a no no but it wasn't that big of a deal. The more I do the lean circuits the more I like them. I like the fact that the moves work your core. And the moves are interesting..not the same old thing. I hate the walking pushups though. I suppose those are going to be the thing I choose to conquer.

Kind of made up my mind to recommit after the last week fiasco. So I will be getting up early to exercise, going to bed early and focusing on eating healthy. I don't want to gain more weight and cause myself more work in the long run!

Deej- I hope you get better before your half marathon! I'm very unhappy to report that my right ankle is also hurting. I'm mad b/c I have a 5k coming up 4/10. I will just walk it if nothing else. But it's alot easier to walk 3.1 than it is 13! Have fun with your Grandson. I miss having spring break but might take some time off later in April!

Ann- I'm glad you are feeling better. I hate stomach bugs. Glad you could get back on track and go to the group run!

Susan- good luck on your contest! I think you are a prime candidate for sure. I'm going to have to get my butt in gear and start thinking of landscaping. But ususally we don't plant until about mother's day around here.

Courtney- No spring cleaning here, just normal house pickup. Today I did laundry, cleaned the toilets (fun job :) ) and picked up the kichen and vacuumed. Ryan was happy when he came home from Kokomo :)

Have a great night and fun watching march madness if you are!

Andrea M.

Not much happening with me right now, other than getting my entry in for the competition. Vote if you can and, if not, that's fine; thanks to those who did vote.
I'm working on a more official-type newsletter to send out to my business contacts. I still need to figure out whether I want to plant any flowers or not. That's just one more thing on my plate that I'd have to tend to, and it's pretty full as it is. After all, they won't just grow by themselves without some TLC from me.
I didn't workout or work in the yard yesterday either.

@Andrea, that's what I love most about spring, being able to open the windows.

@Deej, yep, any workout counts, and I think after these four weeks are up, I'm going to make it a two-week one, and switch it up to where we count fitness minutes one week, and reps the next. Hope your ankle heals soon. The marathon sounds cool, especially with Spark friends. How awesome that your grandson will be working too! How old is he?

@Ann, glad the bug didn't last long and that you're feeling better.

@Courtney, I LOVE your new profile picture! So Cute that you added Care Bars to their faces too. Did you find it or make it? Not looking forward to cleaning the gutters but if I end up planting anything I'll have to. Still debating that one though.

Hello all!

I've been out and about all day with my son, best friend, her bf and dd. We've been walking all over the west end today, so it's nice to sit down for a minute :)

Ann - Stomach bugs always wipe me out. My son keeps coming home with them every few months! Glad you are feeling better.

Deej - Sounds like the visit with the grandson is going to be fun! I'm impressed he was into it so young.

Andrea and Anne - getting into spring cleaning already? I prolly should, but it's too cold still to open windows and doors.

Susan - cleaning out gutters sounds like a workout in itself! Up the ladder, down the ladder, scoops the leaves out etc. etc.

Anyway ladies, ttyt!

I know just what you mean, Deej! I just stole one of my daughter's caramel rice cakes...yuck! It tasted so sickeningly artificial! I'd just rather have a plain one (with a dab of peanut butter, of course!) :)

I have been out of commission the past few days...some sort of stomach bug got to me, but I'm back on track today! Our group run was a taper...4 miles...and I'm feeling good!

Happy weekend, all!

Happy Weekend Bears :)

Susan, you are one busy & productive lady!! I'm glad routine work around the home counts as exercise in this challenge cuz you've gotta be burnin' cals big time!! A getcha on starting over with your Word Doc! Sometimes faster than trying to edit!! Great you took a nap! Wish I could do that. Have never been able to nap regardless of how tired I am. Hubby does the 20 min power nap occasionally; so good for a person!

With the High Intensity Interval workouts, ya burn for a long time after :) since they're typically shorter, ya don't necessarily burn as many cals as w/ a long endurance cardio workout but ya burn for a longer time following :) it's ALL GOOD!

Courtney, good luck w/ adding some Yoga into your mix :) maybe modify those stances till ya build more strength. I consider myself fairly strong after years of training but holding poses is still a challenge! Careful :)

Andrea, I'm a firm believer that training the pallet is as necessary as training the bod! Takes some time to adapt but is soooooooo doable & once ya do :) you'll be sayin' "get that crap off my FOOD!!!" emoticon emoticon

Anne, you too doll !! Have a FUN weekend!!

Right ankle's gettin' in on the "pain" act now :( cut my intended mileage from 10 to 5 yesterday cuz it was hurtin'. Have a half marathon next weekend w/ a bunch of Spark pals. Hope I'm still able to run it but if not, will take my cheer-leading pom pons!

Food was in range yesterday but was way outta line w/ fats. All healthy fats but YIKES on the percentages! Culprit was the new Cliff All Natural Organic Trail Mix Bar. I rarely eat anything processed. Won't be havin' that too often LOL

No running or weight bearing activity this weekend but thinkin' I'll sit n do some ST with bands n prob some planks.

Will have my oldest Grandson some next week for Spring Break!! I'm sooooooooooo excited!! He's had his own pilates mat & weights since he was 1.5 yrs old. Knows all about tightening his abs n glutes n where his quads are LOL They are SOOOOOOOO fun!!

Y'all have a FABULOUS and safe weekend with your fams!!!!

Hey ladies!

Just a quick check in before I get full swing into my day. I have been doing laundry and a little cleaning so far. I have the windows open and am airing out the house...so nice!!

Plan on getting a workout in after my massage and before I go pick up Kim for birthday festivities.

Anne- Have a good day and I hope you get a great workout in!

Susan- I do hate it when I can't think of names. Yesterday I couldn't think of Jamie Lee Curtis. I was trying to tell someone who was in "You Again" which is a great movie. I had some veggies yesterday but I think I might make a shakeology. I know those are super healthy.

Have a great day!

I ended up taking a one-hour nap, then got back to work on my project for 4.5 hours. The third section, I decided to just retype it instead of cleaning up the word document, then bringing it into InDesign, applying all the heading and text styles. Ended up taking the same amount of time, so I'm going to start doing that for the short ones. I need to run a spell check on that section, then add the figures, which will be easy as they're all full page. Then one more and references, and it will be ready for proofing. I expect a LOT of revisions, especially because of the multiple sub headings. I used a different font, and this third one had 5 sub headings, so I'm not sure how that's going to work out, but if he decides he wants the font changed, it's really easy since I use styles. I can't do the Table of Contents until it's almost final, but I will get a head start on it while it's being proofed, as well as the List of Illustrations and Tables.

I didn't get to workout, and today is suppose to be 80, so I may or may not clean the gutters, but I WILL get the rest of my monkey grass area de-weeded, then rake the dirt up. Once the MG starts growing, I'll do some moving around or my MIL offered me some more of hers, so I may just do that. It's real sandy there, so unless the ground is wet the digging is hard, plus I have tree roots from the tree that was there, and a Sycamore to the north, and one to the west in the neighbors yard. What I'd really like to do is figure out what I'm going to plant AND finish this project. Plus we have a chance of rain, which would be nice. Either way, I'll do some type of a workout either inside or out.

@Anne, Trust me, I didn't PLAN on getting up that early. I had my project on my mind and just couldn't go back to sleep.
Take your tennies to work with you. That's I use to do. Just add some protein shakes or bars to your nutrition for the extra calories.
You're right with your comment to Courtney. True motivation comes from within, but teams and others do help.

@Deej, I have beer about once or twice a year, and have green beer once...yuk! YOGA...that's why I like the CLX one because it incorporates Pilates in it, and I get a great arm/leg workout

@Courtney, as I said to Anne, I did NOT plan on getting up at 3:45. Normally I get up around 5, but then I also go to bed at 9.
Good for you for getting BC2 in. It might make a difference because they say one still burns calories like an hour after a workout. Please get some cardio in. I'm rebuilding my endurance because I hadn't been doing as much as I use to, and if I don't do any cardio for 2 weeks, it's like starting over...hitting pause to catch my breath.

@Andrea, craving veggies and good things is your body telling you you're missing something. I remember after I gave birth to Kristen, they didn't give me any intravenious potassium, and I started craving fruit and juice so much without a few hours. Don't you hate it when you can't think of something? We were on the couch the other night trying to think of an actor we hadn't seen in a movie in a while, so I had to get up to search on the computer to find Val Kilmer.

Hey ladies!
I hope we all had a great St. Patty's Day. I sure did..green beer included! :)

My eating has been pretty atrocious the last 3 days. I've had french fries, chocolate and alcohol. NO good! But I'm going to get back on track b/c I'm actually craving good things like veggies which is funny.

Susan- Yes! Meet Joe Black is the movie..was having a brain fart. It is a very good movie. That sounds like a good idea about having the Chalean 30 day challenge in April and we can make a group. Good luck with your project!

Deej- I feel the same way about yoga. Maybe I need to take up your way of thinking to help me :) I had green beer also. It was so pretty! Enjoy the amazing weather!

Courtney- I always feel amazing after a morning workout. Unfortunately this week I"ve just been off my game. But game on next week for me! I'm taking the rest of March down. HOw are you liking the Burn Circuit? When I started strength training I threw out the scale and brought in the tape measure. It helps!

Anne- I can do small quantities of yoga! I do love TF/CLX though. I'm hoping to do LC2 tonight and LC3 sunday

I have a busy Friday and Saturday planned but Sunday should I should be able to relax. The weather here is beautiful today! I'm so excited.

Have a great weekend!

Hello and good afternoon!

So I actually got up and did my BC2 this morning, as I have been not doing morning workouts this week, and I am wondering if it will make a difference with how I burn calories throughout the day if I do.

I've also had my evening plans canceled tonight (drinks with friends) so I am contemplating staying in and doing another cardio workout. I have been really, REALLY resisting doing my cardio workouts, and I'm hovering in the same weight/bodyfat numbers as last week. I'm measuring my weight and body fat daily and comparing it to my nutrition and exercise as I go along, so maybe I can inspire myself to get the cardio in! ha ha ha

@Susan - I admire your determination to get up SO EARLY. I hope you went to bed early too! I envy people who garden, as I kill any plant that I look at.

@Anne - I'm sure there are going to be lots of nice days that you will want to walk. Maybe you can keep a comfy pair of shoes and clean socks at work for the next time?

@Deej - I'm not a yoga fan myself, but not because of my mind, it's the PAIN shooting up through my legs on so many of the moves ha ha ha. Even so, I know it's important to get stretching in, so I will be attempting yoga once a week starting this Saturday.

Good Morning!

Susan, enjoy your gardening & nursery visit; we're not quite "there" yet although like Anne, so nice here, 78 was the high. Have a productive day & enjoy your workout! And yes, my beer was green. I just have an occasional drink as a compliment to food (typically a glass of wine) or as part of an experience, like sitting on the river w/ DD n hubby so green beer is not something I'd typically want. Not so appetizing LOL but in the spirit of St Patty's day...

Anne, sounds like you're being very diligent to get in your workouts & keep your food in line despite a busy life!! That's great!! I say work out at the time of day you have the most energy for it; you'll enjoy it more & get more from it :) for some that = morn, for others evening.

Courtney, agree with Anne, you should be proud of you!! So glad we can inspire you but ultimately, the decision to workout or not is yours :) don't discount daily activity burn the days you don't get in an "official' workout. Climbing stairs, walking fast across a parking lot. Most any muscle movement outside of your fingers pushing a remote counts for something LOL I love the thought of just DOING a life of fitness!! That's what a healthy lifestyle looks like :)

I too found it hard to find the patience for Yoga as I'm pretty high strung & my mind's always flooded with a bazillion thoughts but believe it or not, I came to love the P90X Yoga & it's 90 mins long. It made such a difference in my body & forced me to focus my mind on something other than my "to do" list. I'm not using that DVD routinely now but I incorporate Yoga stances often & I try to think of how it is strengthening me WHILE I'm in the pose & I draw in my abs & contract my core keeping myself mindful of just how STRONG & LONG (as in elongating my muscles) the stance is making me. Not sure if that helps but works for me :) I'm also not into the "Oms" thingy ;) I sing the Doxology ;) ;)

Happy Friday!!

Yesterday was a beautiful day. We reached a record high of 83 and it was bright and sunny. While at work, I went for a walk, in heels, around the neighboring college campus with a co-worker and, boy, are my feet sore. I knew not to go for a walk in heels but it was so nice outside that I couldn't help it. Now, I'm paying for it with hurting feet. :( It was worth it, though. I attempted a walk/run last night but got a phone call and had to return home. Not a big deal, though, as I just finished my workout with a TF HIIT and Scupt. The added calories are definitely helping with the workouts but I'm finding that it's hard to get more calories in my diet. Of course, I could just go nuts and eat a bunch of crappy stuff to pad the numbers but I'm trying not to do that. It's hard to let myself have something more when I'm used to staying below a certain number. I''ll figure it out sometime, I guess.

Susan -- 3:45?? That's nuts. I sincerely give kuddos to those of you that can get up early and actually be productive. I set my alarm for 30 min early everyday with the intention of getting a workout in but I always reset and go back to bed. emoticon

Courtney -- I'm glad that the team inspires you! However, the motivation to workout actually comes from you, not us. If you really didn't want to do it, then you wouldn't. So, take credit where credit is due, you deserve it!!

Deej -- Your willpower is amazing. I would have inhaled that yeast roll and not left a single crumb! LOL. Yesterday was a great day for a beer on the river. I told my husband that we are summerizing the boat this weekend and maybe taking a ride. It's supposed to rain off and on, though, so we'll see.

Andrea -- I decided to go back to the official TF/CLX hybrid workout which gives a month "break" between the Push and Lean Circuits. I guess it's to focus more on the cardio but there are the TF sculpt/tone workouts mixed in. For some reason, after doing LC 1, I am not looking forward to LC 2 and 3. I'm probably just being lazy. LOL. I am with you on getting bored with Yoga. I like to move and the slow holding of poses just loses me. I still do it, though, as I know it's good for me but I just don't do it that often.

Well, Ladies, have a great Friday and keep up the good work!!

I got up at 3:45, so decided to go ahead and check in, then get to work, then I'll workout around 9AM.
With my weekend gardening, I just realized I've worked out 6 days in a row! Today, which I will workout, will make 7 in a row. Tomorrow (Saturday) I need to finish weeding my monkey grass area, and then I really need to clean the gutters. We have screens on them, but when we get heavy rains the one in the front forms a waterfall and makes an indention in both of my front flower beds.
I'm going to call a local nursery and price some of their perennials today. Then I'll decide whether to buy locally or order some.
Photos for the project: I found most of them, but some of the others I don't have. Jim A sent me two, but in black/white. Supposedly there are some color ones somewhere, but Jim C is going to have to go through his old slides to find them. So I'm just inserting bordered boxes where they would go so I can continue with the flow of the text and figures. I have to place them within close proximity to where they're mentioned in the text.

@Deej, sounds like you had an awesome day. Was your beer green? Oh, yeast rolls how could you NOT eat one! I'm not bragging, but I make the most delicious ones with my bread maker, and no way can I eat just one. I usually only make them for special occasions.

@Courtney, good for you for exercising...I'm glad we were able to inspire you. What I do basically is format the design of whatever I'm working on, book or publication, edit the text and insert photos if they have any. I don't do my own graphics, but have designed some book covers. Here's a link to my website if you'd like to see what I've done, but view it with IE and it will look better. With Mozilla, it's all off. That's another thing I'd like to do is make a new website.

Hello all!

I said it before and I'll say it again, I got in my exercise 'cause I was inspired by my team! I did some biking and some walking today.

Food has been good, I've been tracking both by computer and with my phone. I like the tracking on the phone, but it's not the same as being able to get on the boards :)

Anne - I have days when I just can't get to working out too! I just need to stay mindful of my calories on those days, and don't let "not exercising" become a streak. (Gee, I might need some support with that in the next few weeks lol)

Susan - the book idea, what would you be doing with it? Writing? Graphics stuff? Either way, sounds like an exciting possibility.

Andrea - I rode when I was younger, and yeah, it's a definite workout! Core, legs, balance, cardio, and it's super fun!

Deej - sounds like spring has sprung where you are. Some walking around and some beer sounds relaxing!

Anyway ladies, I am working earlier than usual, so I am going to get some sleep!

Onward and Downward!

Hiya ladies!

Susan, have a productive day tomorrow! Feast or famine here; I feel your pain!

Andrea, Anne, Ann, Melodie & Courtney :) hope you'll have a great Friday too! And an even better weekend!

I worked most of the day but joined hubby n DD for a beer over on the river; 76 degrees & sunny! How ya say Ahhhhhhhhh!!

I then walked to our local drug store for some more ACE wrap; I keep it in stock & was low :) was a wonderful evening walk, still warm with a nice breeze.

I kept cals in range too :) was tempted to eat a yeast roll @ the restaurant but pushed the basket out of reach! WHEW!! That could have been a disaster LOL no quitting on those once ya start!!

Good night ladies! Have a good and restful evening!

I probably won't be checking in with the team until late tomorrow. I've got to focus on this project, and SPARK is going to have to come last on the list. It's not easy to find enough hours in the day to do everything, so I've got to treat tomorrow like it's a full-time job and just get it done. So I'm going to start working on it first thing in the morning, then might take a 30-minute break to check in with the teams, but I will get my workout in like I did today.

@Andrea, you're thinking of "Meet Joe Black" I believe, where Brad Pitt is death. Anthony Hopkins is in it too. That's my FAVORITE movie, and I even have it but it's on VHS so I need to get it put onto a DVD sometime, like some of the other movies I've bought.
emoticon emoticon I'm kicking you back. Sounds like you do have a full weekend. I'm like that with my work...it's either nothing or a lot. It's nice when you can have house to yourself.
Do you have the CLX Dynamic Yoga Flow? I don't get bored with that one.
I'm creating a document, well I've done it up to Week Six, but will do it for the rest of her e-mails, and I'm also saving the videos. So I think I'll make an April Chalene Johnson 30-day challenge...once I get through with the first draft of my project. And I'll turn what I've been creating into a word document into a PDF, upload it to a share site, and that way everyone can have it to get started.
The supplements I ordered are all the OPTIMUM brand, and I'm drinking the Vanilla Custard Whey Gold Meal Supplement (300 calories not including milk) right now and it is delicious!

Happy St. Patty's Day!!

I STILL haven't done LC2 (smacks self on hand) but I did go to the barn and ride my horse for an hour last night. We were jumping and stuff which is a good workout.

I'm really looking forward to the weekend. It's going to be a busy one. Isn't it funny how you can have nothing to do for a month or so and then all of a sudden everything falls on one weekend? I'm going out for my best friend Kim's birthday on Saturday. Her and I always have tons of fun. There will be no calorie counting that night :) And Ryan is going to Kokomo for the weekend so house will be allll to myself!

I'm not sure what tonight is going to bring. I don't know if we are going to dinner w/ people for the holiday or what. I will try to fit LC2 in. I'm just hoping for a better start next week. It's all about Monday sometimes. And I just couldn't get myself together this week.

Susan- I wish I had the patience you do for yoga! I get bored after 15-20 min! I need to work on relaxing. Haven't conquered that yet! I think I'm w/ you on the Chalean 30 day challenge. I will make that my april priority b/c I have only done 3 days. But I'm saving all the emails which is a good idea! Let me know how you like the protein supplements. All of the ones I've had were kind of gross.

Deej- Ankle is getting better. I think I just needed to rest it for a while. I'm not wearing the brace today. Should be back up and "running" by Sunday..haha. Weather is nice here. I rode last night in 1 long sleeve shirt..woohoo! So sorry to hear about the loss of your pet. We had to put our Golden Retriever Ginger down a couple years ago and it was so hard. They really do become part of your family!

Courtney- Welcome! Glad to have you. My puppy boy is all back to normal now. I came home yesterday and Ryan is like "watch out Bear is in attack mode." He was just really full of it. And I think stitches are about gone. Good job on getting your workouts in! I'm slacking this week for various reasons.

Anne- Brad Pitt is grey? lol When did this happen? I guess he's always that blond hunk from the movie where he's the angel in my mind. And those eyes! OMG! Anyways..I hope you enjoy your day and get a nice workout in! Enjoy the 76 degrees!

Have a great day!

Yesterday was shot as far as work goes, although I did fix the first part of my project. Ended up I'd inadvertely left out two figures, but it didn't mess up the pagination. Today will be searching for the rest of the photos, doing a short cardio workout, and then I hope to get in at least 5 hours of work on my project, if not more. I did do laundry (clothes), so I need to put those away and do towels today.

I received my protein supplement shipment from Body Builders, so I'm going to start using that, and then I use the P90X Recovery too.

I got a totally unexpected e-mail yesterday. I went to a Motivational seminar a year ago, and while having lunch outside met several people. Well, one of the ladies contacted me about doing a book. She's planning a dental appt in the town I live in, and when she gets that scheduled we'll be meeting to discuss it. I'm debating whether to meet here at my house or somewhere for coffee. Depends on whether she wants to see some of my previous work or not and I don't have a laptop. So we'll see how that comes out. I haven't heard back so it might not be until next month.

@Deej, that's great that he agreed to let you work from home. Sad that the bankruptcy business is booming though.

@Courtney, glad to have you on our team! Chinese food is bad calorie wise. Occasionally we have take out, and just two egg rolls are 800 calories! I know how you feel about not working out...we're in the same mode. But I've got to, and am glad I did what I did yesterday because I'm feeling a nice good soreness.
My clients have all come from when I worked at the University, except for the one mentioned above. The client I'm working for now is with the Oklahoma Geological Survey, and I actually have a contract with them (going on my 2nd year now).

@Ann, the CLX deluxe, to me, was worth it because I like the Yoga one, and it has Extreme Intervals, which I actually like better than the Burn one. The other two are lower and core, but with the ball and I'm not crazy about ball workouts, but the core one is good even though I've only done it a couple of times.
We're finally getting some warmer weather here in Oklahoma too.
I can't give you any advice on TF as I tried it but didn't like it...to fast for me, although I did enjoy the stretch workouts.

Good Morning and Happy St. Patty's Day!!

Courtney -- Welcome to Team Care Bears!! Yay to you for doing BCI and CP Remix. I like to do CP Remix on occasion. Even after doing Turbo Fire, the Turbo Jam workouts still get me huffin' and puffin'. TF is like TJ on steriods. Even the warm up is fast paced! While the moves are the same, TF moves a LOT quicker. I decided to increase my calorie range by 200 calories as a test. SP set my range at 1200-1550 so I upped it to 1400-1750. I haven't come close to going over and have actually stayed around 1600 all of this week. Maybe it's all in my head but I do feel like I have more energy. We'll see. I may tweak it later.

Deej -- With all of your energy, I think you would really like TF. However, since the weather is getting nicer, the time is probably better spent outdoors. :)

Susan -- Is the CLX deluxe set worth getting? I have debated getting that one or the TF advanced set. I have the TJ Get on the Ball series so two of the CLX deluxe DVDs look similar to those as does the Lower Body set. If anyone can weigh-in on this, I would appreciate some feedback.

Andrea -- I have a Boxer and two other dogs who would love, love, love to be lap dogs. Unfortunately for them, I'm not much of a lap dog fan. :) My "love" for Brad Pitt went away once he started getting grey and old looking. I hope your ankle starts feeling better soon.

So, last night I didn't get my run/walk in because I fell asleep on the couch again. I was good on my calorie intake, though. Today is supposed to be a hig of 76 here in STL so it's definitely going to be an outside activity kinda day. I really wanted to call off of work but it's so busy that I can't afford to miss any time. :( I get off at 3 pm though so there's plenty of time to enjoy the day.

Have a great day, Care Bears!!

Hello all! Finally done for the day and have some time to Spark!

Yesterday and the day before, my calories were OVER (son's birthday party yesterday, we ate at Mandarin, a chinese buffet.) Admittedly I had a plate and a bit, but the plate was 75% veggies. I only ate 2 chicken balls (I can do 8-12 usually!) and enjoyed them, and for dessert I ate pineapple and strawberries, and a sliver of my fav - lemon meringue pie. So although I was over in calories, I still feel good about the choices I made.

I didn't want to work out when I got up today, so I didn't. Ha, typical me! Luckily I checked my sparkmail at work (was logging food for the day!) and saw I'm now a Care Bear! So I am happy to report that y'all inspired me to do my BC1, and I threw in Cardio Party Remix just for the hell of it!

@Andrea - your puppy prolly needed the cuddle time! How is he doing today?

@Melanie - what are you doing to take care of yourself? What do you do in terms of modifying workouts or not when you are sick?

@Anne - TurboFire, eh? I love me my Turbo Jam, but I gotta say, I'm a little intimidated by Turbo Fire ha ha ha! How many calories up makes a difference with energy, but not with weight gain?

@Deej - what is "Y-Weight" and who runs it? (Hmmm...wondering if I need to read the posts further back...)

@Susan - wow! organized! No wonder you run the challenges for the groups so well! lol Sounds like an interesting line of work, where do you find clients?

Laters, taters!

emoticon CHUNKAMUNKA!! Glad to have you on board emoticon

Susan, sounds like you have a great home gig going on :) such a blessing to work from home & do what you're gifted in! I'm paid hourly as an employee. I worked for this attorney for 10 years before taking on an HR/Exec Asst position at a Mega Church; after 6 yrs I resigned & had planned to do some occasional temp assignments after taking some time off. He needed help, I agreed as long as I could work from home on my clock so I could still train at the Y & be around when my Mom needs me. Was a win win for both of us & the rest is history. He's a Bankruptcy Specialist so unfortunately, our biz is booming :(

and LOL about Brad :) I'm not so much a fan since the Jenn/Angie thing. Have never seen that movie but I rarely ever see movies. I'll check out the blog :) thanks for the link!

Andrea, have you iced your ankle? Went to see a Phys Therapist today; a friend. I've been having probs with my ankle for quite some time; always feels like it's bruised. He wants me icing it after every run/workout. Awwwwww.... love hearing abt your Pup :) We had a lap dog, Molly Su (a Shi!szu) lol Spark scolded me cpl times when I attempted to spell the name of her breed). We lost her to Heart Disease spring of last year. I still cry sometimes just at the thought of her!! She often laid by my desk while I worked & when we sat in a chair she would spring up into our laps. Was mostly a "Daddy's girl" :) we all grieved so!!

So glad you're giving the foot a break! That's wise :) I've heard many good things abt Turbo Fire! Love high energy cardio like that. I have a few of the Turbo Jam's n understand TF is like TurboJam on steroids LOL ...FUN!

Had a good day; busy but good. Mid 50's n sunny; just had to run :) got in 7.5 miles. Going to be 75 tomorrow for St Patty's Day!! WOW!! I'll have to find something to do outdoors just so I can be out there!! Can hardly wait! emoticon

Spring IS coming... as is SUMMER!! So let's DO THIS THING girls!! We want to be ready for a fun & active Summer!!

Geez, the day has totally gotten away from me. I ended up finding 10 illustrations, but don't have two so Jim A will have to find them and send them to me. Took me 2 hours. I'm charging $10 per image search for having to look through 100+, opening them to see if they're the right ones. Now I just need to go through the photos. Then I can proceed with the rest of the project.

I got my workout in. I did CLX Dynamic Yoga Flow with the weighted gloves and am sure my arms will be sore tomorrow. I'm going to do this tomorrow, probably, then do one week of fairly intense cardio, ab work, and light ST intervals, and then start CLX PUSH the last week of March.

A friend sent me this blog so I'm sharing it with you. I've even copied and pasted it so I can post it somewhere to read every day. It is really a GREAT blog!

@Anne, that's good that you upped your calorie range. For the challenge, just go in and change your numbers so it doesn't effect your points. Thanks for checking out my projects. I'm feeling much better today, and with more determination.

@Deej, We are some awesome bears, and we care! Yes, I'm the one who puts it all together. I use to be a lot faster at it when I worked full time, mainly because I was getting paid by the department, not the client. Now it takes me a bit longer because it's my business, but I have a timer that tracks my time as if I were charging $30/hour. I charge per page, item, etc. So I always check that to see if I'm working faster or slower. Figuring out the invoice can be hard sometimes. I keep a pad beside me for everything I do which makes it easier when it's time to submit an invoice. And the quicker I can get a draft done, the sooner I can submit an invoice. I submit one for each draft depending on how large the revisions are.
Do you invoice what you do, or charge by the hour?
Thanks for the input on the challenges. I think I'll try two weeks at a time when these four weeks are up and see how that goes.

@Andrea, Sorry about your ankle, and hope it gets better soon. I LOVED Benjamin Button, but then I'm a Brad Pitt freak even though I don't like that he left Jennifer for Angelina.

Hey ladies!

Welcome Chunkamunka! We are a great team!!

I went to aerobics last night which was cool. My ankle was hurting
a little on Sunday so I gave it Monday off & didn't really think about
it but it was hurting last night. So I took one riser out so I didn't
hurt it worse and now I'm wearing my ankle brace. I will focus on
strength training for a couple days and then it should be fine.

I was so tired last night when I got home. My boyfriend put in The
Curious Case of Benjamin Button and I fell asleep. It was a looong
movie & I didn't really like it..kinda boring for me.

Melanie- I hope you feel better soon :)

Susan- Our puppy is a German Sheperd. So he is going to be a big ole boy!
But he is a sweetheart. I can't wait to introduce him to the lake this
summer. I hope you got your project done!

Anne- I think my puppy is going to think he is a lap dog even when he's 100#.
He loves his mom and dad! I hope you figure out your nutrition and a way to
get more protein. I really miss Turbo Fire and as soon as my ankle is back up
and running I think I will do a workout.

Deej- Glad you are getting sunshine! I think we are supposed to have a nice
weekend up here so I can't complain to much :) I realize now how important it
is to have a strong everything when you are running. It's not just your legs b/c
everything works when you run. The HTC relay sounds fun!

Have a great day! Not sure what I'm doing tonight. Might venture up to the barn
but my goal is to fit LC2 into there somewhere!

HI Anne!! That's FABULOUS! I have friends who do the Galloway Method (run/walk) every time and one guy in particular beats my hiney consistently!! Good for the bod & the consistent break you give yourself makes the run portions more productive! I'm considering training that way for my 1st full. Hoping that's this fall; waiting to see if I get in to NYC.

LOL I too thought I'd NEVER do a full; thought ppl who did were nuts LOL but the more halfs I do, the more I want to do one; I'm gradually building my long runs & giving myself plenty of time to train.

Good Morning to everyone else as well :) have a FABULOUS, productive day!!

HEALTHY ROCKS!!

Deej -- I would like to start doing some 5Ks and up from there. I can't comprehend running a full marathon, though. emoticon A full 26 miles freaks me out!! I did 3 miles the other day with about half walking/half running and it was okay. I felt good afterwards so I'm gonna get out there and do it again now that's it's FINALLY warming up.

Susan -- I agree that changing things up and adding little challenges will keep the 16 weeks from getting boring.

Oh and P.S, Susan, I think a challenge broken up in smaller pieces (however you choose to do it), may be more manageable. It can be hard initially when you know you have several weeks in front of you. Some have trouble committing to 12 weeks but are not intimidated by shorter challenges.

Just a thought :) appreciate so much all the work (and thought) that goes into these things!

Hi there teamies!! :) what an awesome buncha Bears y'all are ;-) Don't ya just hate it when someone comes on all cheery when you're so tired!! LOL actually I'm beat too, just pretending I'm not!! HA! It ain't workin' !!

Anne, what are your plans with running? I have the year pretty much full with racing & plan to take a break this coming winter. We'll see, I'm not so good at taking the breaks I need, especially when it comes to running but will have to do that to avoid the risk of injury. GOOD FOR YOU on upping your cals! Ya gotta eat to lose; just in the right quantities & the right foods. So important to fuel those intense workouts! YAY YOU!!

Andrea, we're getting sun the next few days in this part of the State (how ya say WOO HOO!) I'll send it North :) I'm sooooo ready for spring! And thanks for your comments abt my surgery (lucky us, huh?) I encourage you to continue your strength training. I was able to hold off & got better for a while due to my ST, core stabilizing exercises, & running. I was just glad I could make it work & still have time to train for some special races :) Seattle half marathon & the HTC 197 mile team relay. I can't wait to have the annoyance over with! Can be embarrassing!

Melanie, I'm sorry to hear about your cold! Do feel better :) I hope your little ones don't catch it. Seemed when one of mine got sick, it would make its rounds. Be sure to get in plenty of Vit C!! ;)

Susan, WOW!! What a beautiful, uniform layout. I had no idea the type projects you work on but I'm impressed. Had trouble downloading the crossword though. So you're the one who puts those together!! That's awesome! No wonder your projects take so much time; I can't imagine!! Great work!

I wish all of you the best with your workouts! I had a great class tonight (Y-Weight). The group has grown & they're all so supportive of one another. Topic was "Making Fitness a Lifestyle". Some great discussion time :)

That's about it for me! Worked all day on cases & spent tonight transferring my records for the week! Not so great with calories, over a few too many times!! Here's to a better next week!! I'm determined to drop a few!!

See y'all tomorrow! Have a GREAT, restful night!

Hi Everyone!

So, I mentioned yesterday that I upped my calorie range and today I had only a few more calories than before but I feel a difference. I mean I still got tired from the workout (TF Fire 45) but I lasted longer than last week when I attempted the workout. I still need to get more protein, though. Tomorrow, and the rest of the week, is supposed to be gorgeous weather so I am going to get moving outside. I have a lot of yardwork to do but I really want to get started on my running routine.

Susan -- Great work on your projects! I saw on your blog where you're struggling a bit with your workouts but remember that exercise will give you more energy and that should help with your productivity. Keep your head up and it;ll all work out. Don't discount the house and yard work that you're doing as this is still better than sittin on the couch. :)

Melanie -- Sorry to hear that you're not feeling well. Hopefully, you can still get a walk in or something small that doesn't bother your head too much.

Andrea -- I love cuddling with puppies. Then they get a lot bigger and still want to cuddle. LOL It's not as easy to hold them when they're full grown and not so soft. Hopefully, you will have the same nice weather later this week and weekend as I'll have in St. Louis.

Take care, Ladies. Work Hard, Easy Sucks!!

Hi Care Bears!
I didn't workout yesterday, but did vacuum and mop. Right now, on my project, I'm having to search through 100 drawn images and photos to find 30, and it's like looking for a needle in a haystack. I was doing it one at a time, but I finally pulled out all the pages with images and photos, and am going to find them first before I continue. If I don't have them, I'll contact the guy who sent them to me so he can find them.
Here's basically what I'm working on, only this one is smaller but the format is the same. And I'm actually contracted to do 11 more, but have been given about 8 other projects to work on, so as far as Guidebooks go, this is the only one I've done yet.
www.ogs.ou.edu/pubsscanned/guidebook
s/
GB36.pdf

I actually work with two people on my projects, and they're both named Jim. Jim C is the man who wrote the publications and I did a lot of work for him back when I worked at the University. In fact here's one that was a LOT of work with crossword puzzles. I did them all in Microsoft Word as tables because back then there wasn't a program that would generate crossword puzzles.
www.ogs.ou.edu/pubsscanned/EP8.pdf
I created "Fill in the Blank" (page 5), blank crossword puzzle (page 6), and a word search (page 7). THEN, I did the answers to them (go down to page 66 in the PDF file for the first crossword puzzle, and then on the next page I used shapes for the long rectangle blocks for the word search.
Not sure if I'll get a workout in today or not, but I will be going to Walmart and that's a workout for me pushing around a loaded cart for 30-45 minutes.

@Melanie, Yep, my gardens are huge. I just have to figure out what to plant, but they'll be perinials for sure. I am a believer...1000%! Only GOD knows what's in store for us.
Glad you had a good weekend. Sounds like you have a great family. Addressing by username or first name...either way is fine.
Oh, I hope you're not getting the crud that's going around. Feel better soon!

@Andrea, sounds like you had a productive fitness weekend! We're finally getting sun, but we sure could use some rain. Other than all the snow we got, we haven't had rain since last November. You have a 68lb puppy! How old is he, and what kind of dog? That's sweet that you laid in bed with him. I love it when my cats sleep with me.

@Deej, I finally got my points put in for week one. I had to go back and look at my spark calendar to figure out what and when. Sounds as if you're as busy as I am.

@Anne, I think you did the right thing. I might have to as well because it's difficult for me to get through workouts. I ordered some protein shake supplements and bars from BodyBuilding.com. That's where my son (who is an ICU nurse and totally into fitness) gets his so I use what he recommends. They should be here in a day or two so I hope that helps with my endurance.
I always hit pause between sets. One so I can write in what I did, and two if I have to switch weights. And you're right, she does move fast with the chair. One thing I don't like about the CLX Ab workouts is there's not even a few seconds before the next one starts. I've been using BBL ab workout, and I really like it a lot better.

emoticon
P.S. I'm thinking about maybe when these four weeks are up changing the challenges to one week at a time, but still grouping four weeks together. Also thinking about adding in some fun things like Spark Trivia, etc.. Just thought I'd query you all first before I posted a link for the other teams. I'd like to know what you'd think about doing it like this.

Good morning, all!

Not feeling so hot today. emoticon At first, I thought it was just allergies from being out in the woods this weekend, but now I think it's a cold. Yuck. Oh well, this too shall pass...

Hope everyone has a blessed day and remember your nutrition AND exercise both play a part in your fitness. Stay on track, team! emoticon

be blessed...

Hey Care Bears!

we sure could use some sunshine here in Fort Wayne. I'm still
adjusting to the time change. I had another rest day. Those are
pretty regular lately. But I'm still way on track for my minutes so
I'm not real worried about it.

Our puppy got neutered yesterday so I laid in bed w/ him after Ryan
left until it was time for me to get up. He was being all cuddly and
cute. He is 68 lbs now! I about died when they said that. So b/c
I was laying w/ puppy I didn't do my morning exercise. And also b/c
we didn't go to bed until midnight b/c of the flipping time change.

Deej- I'm happy to know I'm not the only one w/ those issues! But
I haven't had kids yet..lol. It sucks that the surgery has to be
b/n your 2 races.

Anne- You started Lean Circuit also? That is a hard workout isn't it?
I have to do LC2 tomorrow..was supposed to do it this morning but was
cuddling w/ puppy instead :) And yes..she does move fast. I haven't
decided if I like having every exercise w/ extreme sets yet. I tend
to get bored.

Have a great Tuesday!

Hey Team Care Bear!
Today was a good day. I ate fairly well and stayed within my calorie range. I decided over the weekend to up my calories because I was failing so much during the cardio routines. My body would just stop working and I was so wiped the rest of the day. I'm hoping the few additional calories will help. I do need to up my protein intake, though. I started Lean Circuit today and, oh holy cow, this workout kicked my butt!! I struggled a bit to get the chair moved and equipment together. She sure moves fast in between the sets!

Susan -- Wow! That's a lot of garden time. You definitely have your hands full with all of that space. I'm sure it'll be beautiful once you get the plants and flowers in.

Melanie -- Sometimes quiet family time is the BEST time. :) I like the easy going weekends with just me and the fam.

Andrea -- I am trying to convince myself that I want to start training for a 5K. Once it warms up, I'm gonna take my butt outside. I see that you did Lean Circuit 1 too. I thought I was pretty strong from doing Push Circuit but I was wrong. It was really hard! I guess that's the point, though. LOL.

Deej -- Thanks for staying so upbeat and positive!

I hope everyone had a great Monday and wish the same for your Tuesday!!

Hi Everyone!

I've been totally covered up with case work today for the law office. I haven't recorded points in a while but I will soon.

Andrea; great you had such a good run! I getcha on the bladder issues! Same here but I'm kind of used to the annoyance; surgery scheduled for 1st of May (smack dab between two half marathons HA!) My urologist recommended surgery 3 yrs ago but I put it off. It's beyond time :) Let's just say my run was less than comfortable. I've had 4 children; that didn't help any LOL but they're worth it! Keep on doing what you're doing! Your workouts rock!

Susan, gardening & weeding is such a great workout! Hope you're stretching after!! Your flower boxes, etc. sound so nice! You're bringing thoughts of Spring to my mind :) That's great considering it was sleeting here this morning; cold & dreary again :(

Anne, I agree the world news can be depressing. My husband has it on a lot. I don't like to watch it all the time; it's so heart breaking but I know I need to be aware of what's going on & to realize what others as neighbors are going through. I can pray for them, which helps me to not feel entirely helpless, and then I try to go on with life. I think if we can stay upbeat for friends & family, it will help both them and us!!

Melanie, I think it's so cool your husband is so upbeat & into fitness!! My husband has never had a weight issue & hasn't worked out in the past few years although he used to Strength Train. Hope to get him back into it one of these days; age plays a number on everyone, even those who are seemingly fit. And I'm totally good if you address us by username :) works for me!

Ann, hope you're having a good week!! I've just got to get back to my routine!!! It's been a crazy 3 or 4 days but that's kind of common for me! LOL

Take good care team!! Let's try to rack up some points! I hope to do better the rest of the week!!

Hey ladies!

I missed you guys this weekend b/c you are my favorite team to check in with!
I had a really good time running my 5k. And we went shopping afterwards which
reduced the soreness following the 5k. And yesterday evening I did Lean Circuit 1.
That was a workout! I was very impressed. And followed that w/ I've got abs.
I'm hoping everything can be right with the world soon. And my heart definitely
goes out to those in Japan.

Deej- I had a very nice 5k! I would have ran the whole things but I *TMI*
had unforeseen bladder issues which was probably due to wind/cold and
running. So I had to slow down and walk. Valuable lesson learned there!
So sorry you had to attend a funeral. But great job on the 10k! That is my
goal for September. I entered Fort for Fitness.

Susan- I totally feel you on all the bad things going on! I can't even
stand to watch the news anymore b/c it's so depressing. And Japan got
double the trouble with the tsunami and then the explosion. It really
does make you wonder about revelation.

Ann- I learned real fast that CLX before a run is not a good combo! But
I believe if you rotate b/n CLX and running then you should be good to
go!

Anne- I think that is what I've chosen to do. I'm like bring on the bubble!
I don't want to know, I just want to be happy. That is kind of selfish
though but you can only handle so much bad news at a time!

Melanie- You will get used to checking in and then you'll wonder what you did
without us! haha HOpe you had a great birthday weekend!

Let's have a great week! Spring is almost here.

Good morning, all! Hope you're all having a MOST blessed day! :)

I had a wonderful weekend, thanks to the hubby and my sweet girls. Nothing elaborate, mind you, but just fun, family time that reminded me of how blessed I am! :)

If you don't mind and it doesn't seem too impersonal, I think it's less confusing to address by username than by name so that's what I will do.

@IZZYBEBOP: Wow, you go girl!! That is some serious gardening space you got going on over there! And I will give you an "Amen" on the not watching the news thing! Unfortunately, tragedy is unavoidable and we can't live with our head in the sand and pretend it doesn't exist. BUT... I think there is a limit to how much we should watch/see because it absolutely does have an affect on our mood and ability to cope. It can be very depressing, for sure. But if you're a believer, we DO know how it ends. :) And all of the things leading up to it is scary, yes, but predicted.

@BUCKEYEGAL: Sorry you're hurting! Hope they heal quickly!

@DEEJ4FITNESS: Thank you, that's very sweet of you. It's all part of my *story* and what makes me "ME"! :) So sorry to hear of your loss. :( But how cool that you got to do your run with your family! I look forward to doing the Race For The Cure with our little family- baby and all! She will love it! I'm sure you do probably remember my hubby, as he's the Team Leader over there and I thought I recognized your name from there. He's quite the motivator! :)

Keep doing what you're doing, ladies. You're all an inspiration!

be blessed...
Melanie

I put in another four hours yesterday, this time pulling weeds, and then raking and attempting to level the gardens. It was 55, so I put on a thermal top and my long overalls. I got both front gardens done, and half of my monkey grass area. Since I canceled my flower order, I decided to measure my gardens in case I decide to order some more. I was astonished at what I have, and this isn't even including the area with the monkey grass because all I do there is clean it up, and then separate the monkey grass. I transplanted some from my MIL 2 years ago, so it still hasn't filled up, but it basically is 10'W x 20'L = 200SF (square foot). So here's what I have:
1. Big front garden that curves around the sidewalk to the porch: 6.2X12 = 74SF (75% shade)
2. Small front garden: 10X3.9 = 39SF (75% shade until afternoon, then full sun)
3. Garden by deck: 6.3X10 = 63SF (full sun)
4. Garden by back building: 8X2.5 = 20SF (only morning and afternoon sun)
5. Garden "Gidget's Memorial": 11X5=55SF (pretty much mostly sun)
This means that I have 251 square feet of garden area, 451SF if you include the monkey grass area. I'm glad I did this because now I can go back, look at what I had planned on ordering, and see if it's enough or what I want. I want things that will be easy to take care of, and of course will live, and multiply. Oh, and I have two wooden window boxes that sit on the front porch rail that are total shade and only about 6" deep, and it's hard to get anything to grow in them.
Gidget's area, I can't really decide what to do there. It doesn't have to be as big as it is, but it sits right outside the south window of the computer room and west of the bathroom, so it has two sides of the house and if I don't use all that area, that means having to mow. And I want to put a pretty white fence around it. Right now it doesn't have anything except a bird bath that I really think I'll move or get rid of during spring cleaning because it doesn't hold water...it's really old.
Today I vacuumed and mopped...that was my fitness for today...as I tracked dirt in (I cannot do gardening without getting dirty from head to toe). My lower back was sure hurting yesterday and today. Time to work on my project now.

@Ann, calendar wise, spring is just around the corner. Weather wise, who knows.
I've stopped watching the news. I do that every so ofte as it just brings me down.
Sounds like you do need to rework your schedule.

@Deej, Yes, having the Attitude of Gratitude is what we need right now.

@Anne, I'm living in a bubble now. What will happen will, regardless of what I do. All i can control is ME and what I do.

Just realized we have two Ann(e)'s on our team. Good thing one of you spells yours with an 'e'!

Hi Ladies,
I hope everyone had a nice weekend!

Deej -- It sounds like you had a great time at the race. I would like to do some with my family but they are not into running or general exercise. I'm going to try to convince my hubby to go for walks with me once it warms up.

Susan -- I'm so glad you didn't have to deal with the fires. Gardening sounds like a great way to release some stress.

The tragedies around the world, both natural and man-made, are very depressing and make it hard to have a positive outlook on the future. Sometimes I just want to tune it all out and live in a little bubble. Maybe ignorance is bliss.

Anyway, have a great weekend everyone and keep movin'.

Ouch Ann! I feel your pain :) nice job on the 9 miler! I was scheduled for 12 yesterday but didn't run any more after the 10K race; hope to get out there again tomorrow; I'm doing Run Less Run Faster, the 3 day per week running schedule worked well for me this winter. I'll be driving through Ohio weekend after next headed to Pittsburgh to run a race with 50 other Sparkers!

My Sis is a teacher as well! A great opportunity to boost the spirits of youngsters who may have fears with what they are hearing but I'm sure it's not always easy to stay upbeat.

We certainly should take nothing for granted and recognize our blessings :)

I wish ya the best putting together this week's schedule :) Always helps to plan ahead!!

Happy Spring Forward Day! I really hope that means that spring is around the corner...this rain and snow has got to go! I didn't sleep very well last night, and it's gray and ugly here so far today...I'm feeling tired!

I am in the same boat as a few of you feeling down lately. I'm a teacher, and things here in Ohio with the governor and political issues are really stressful, too. I just want to do my job and brighten my little corner of the world, but it's hard with the constant battering from all of the negative news...I almost feel numb!

I think I made a mistake doing CLX the day before my 9 miler yesterday....my quads are so sore I can barely get up and down the stairs. I think I need to rework my schedule for this week...maybe do strength on Tues/Thurs and run M/W/F/Sat. Will be worth a try!

I spent four hours raking leaves yesterday and ended up with 8 bags full. Am I ever feeling it today. If I ever fully wake up (I feel like I could take a nap) I plan on getting the rest of the leaves by the fence line, pulling weeds and doing laundry.

What's happening all over the world is scary. Seems like it's been one thing after the other. and if any of those nuclear plants actually melt down, well all I can think of is REVELATION. I heard that the last earth quake that hit yesterday shifted the earths axis. I feel as if I have PRE-traumatic stress syndrome...not knowing what the future holds for the world, and us. Could it be the TIME is coming soon?

@Janine, glad you checked in with us. I'm having the same blah mood, but it's not my TOM as I'm way past that. I can't believe you did all that exercise. I hope to get back to where I can do TJ PKJ and a ST circuit.

@Melanie, I've never heard of Brookshires so I don't believe we have one here. I'm trying to feel blessed, but with all the chaos in the world it's kind of hard right now. Only GOD knows why all this is happening, and I love your quote for your sigline.
That's great that you have your husband as a motivator, and I am sorry for what you've been through.

@Deej, my daughter wasn't into Strawberry Shortcake but I do remember it, and then we had a store in the mall with (think back to the 80s) that was specifically the NEW thing from China. They had everything, but I can't for the life of me think of the name of it. We would always go there to buy birthday presents for her friends.
How cool to run a race with so many family members!
I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. Yes, I need to start counting my blessings, having the ATTITUDE of GRATITUDE and stop wallowing in self-pitty.

I know my post may have gone from down to up, but I'm reading each post and responding in that order.

Hi Susan and Melanie! Sorry I'm just now checking in, Long day!

Susan, very thankful you escaped the fires! I agree these are scary times! Would be much scarier without faith!

Melanie, I'm sorry for what you've been through! (((HUGS))) I don't take that as an excuse at all; it's real & it's been tough & I think part of moving forward is acknowledging some of the hurdles that we've faced!! Bless ya girl! I do love your attitude! That will go so far in helping you start back down your path to better health :)

And I think I remember your hubby from the P90X team! So cool you have him as your motivator :) So HAPPY BIRTHDAY is in order???
emoticon emoticon emoticon Hope it's a great one!!!

Ran a 10K race this morn with my DD, nephew & his wife & niece! So cool to run it with fam! Then to my hometown for a funeral home visitation :( high school friend died of a brain aneurysm. So sad!! I'm from a small town & we attended 1st through 12th together; families in that town all close. Heart aches for them. Counting my multitude of blessings & extra grateful tonight for my health.

I haven't been logging last two days :( not bad on choices, just swamped! Hope to get back to it tomorrow.

Have a wonderful Sunday team!!!

Well, the fires didn't get near here so that's good. But just heard that one of the nuclear power plants in Japan exploded. Things are not looking good for the world, and it's kind of making me depressed and down to where I don't feel like doing anything like working out. Maybe I'll put my garden clothes on and start clearing out my gardens. That might make me feel better. Pulling up weeds is a stress relieve for me.

@Melanie, I'm glad you're starting to chat more and getting the hang of it. Have a great birthday weekend!

Ok, here I am, as promised! :)

Sorry I've been slacking a bit. I'm not really used to being so active here on Spark. That's part of the reason for me joining this challenge. ;)

@Susan: Revelations- you got it! Sorry you're having to prepare to leave your home in case of a wild fire, though. How very terrifying for you. I will be in prayer for you!

@Andrea: So glad you didn't have a "Fat Tuesday"! Good for you! :) I am trying to be better with my nutrition... baby steps. ;) Yes, I was (and still am) a bit confused by the virtual 5K, too, but I've asked some questions so hopefully I will be *in the know* soon and can pass on what I learn to you! Hope you had a great Friday, as well!! :)

@Anne & Deej: Welcome, welcome!! Glad you're with us! :)

@Ann (BUCKEYEGAL): I don't just yet. I am trying to pick some really rockin' Christian tunes, as that's what really motivates me. Any suggestions?

@Deej: I'll be honest... it just feels good to be doing SOMEthing again! I have been sedentary for far, far too long. My story is long, but short version... about 3 yrs ago I lost 90 lbs then had a problematic pregnancy and have gained back at least 50 of that. *Sigh*. Not an excuse (the pregnancy), just the facts. ;) But I am TIRED of being unhealthy and ready to do something about it. Plus my hubby (the P90X GURU and Team Leader: TXHRT4U ;) is VERY motivational and I'm too competitive to sit by and let him have all the fun! lol
Oh, and I'm totally jealous you're getting a Trader Joe's! I have heard PHENOMENAL things about that place! We figure we're just pretty lucky to get this "FRESH" store, for now. lol And thank you- I do try. I am pretty blessed so it doesn't take too much effort. ;)

OK, I think that pretty much catches me up! Whew!! lol I will try to be better about checking in and reading all the posts so I don't have to do so much at once. :)

I am off to see what my sweet hubby has in store for my *fantastic birthday weekend*, as he's calling it. Gotta love him! :)

Quick post: Wildfires throughout the entire state of Oklahoma, including one about 10 miles southeast of me. I'm packed and prepared to leave if necessary, but it would have to jump I-35 to get closer. Horrendous disasters through the world today, and this year. Makes one wonder, i.e. REVELATION.

Hi again :)

Hope everyone's having a great day!! It's so sunny here I'm soaking it up through my window. Why did it have to be cold & gloomy yesterday when I could run & gorgeous today when I shouldn't LOL I'm probably not going to get out there & push it; have a 10K in the morning & I'm coming off an odd injury; happened for no apparent reason after putting in additional shoe inserts. Much butter but required a brief reduction in training :(

Anne, be very careful with the back issue. Could be due to form; you'll want to be very careful to watch how she's doing it but often back strain comes from lifting too heavy a weight as that throws off your form. That's the tough part of DVD instruction; they can't see how you're doing it & provide any necessary correction. Head should always be in alignment with your spine. Be safe above all!! :)

Andrea, sounds like you had a great final training run :) have a great race!! I love going into them feeling strong! I'm sure you'll rock it!

Hi Melanie! You have a blessed day too! :)

Sounds like many of us need that extra nudge to stay on track over the weekend! I'll make every effort to check in at some point each day!! I've made healthy eating pretty much a lifestyle but still have to watch myself on portions and because it's a lifestyle, I don't go without occasional endulgences, just try to make them worth it; I don't eat it if it's not worth it LOL and with this challenge, I'm trying extra hard to fit any endulgence into my cal range :) Overdid it yesterday by abt 75 cals but not stressing over it. Today's a new, ACTIVE day!!

Hi Susan and all you Care Bears!! Let's continue to get LEAN!!

Hey team!

Last night I went and had a nice last run before my 5k.
Today I will probably do some light stretching/yoga &
go to bed early.

Susan- It does sound like you need some more protein or maybe
some rest. CLX can be a very strenuous program if you aren't
eating enough of the right foods. I can't wait to start Lean
Circuit. I actually missed strength training this week. I was
kind of out of wack with the change in hours. I hope you feel
better!

Anne- That sounds like lots of fun. I might have to rent a boat
sometime and stay on a river. I usually do CLX on Sun/T/Th or
M/W/F. It just works better that way!

Janine- CLX and Insanity! You are as crazy as I am..sounds like
something I would do! I was crazy enough to go to Power then Kick
on Monday. I hope you feel better! Don't let the monthly get you
down!

Melanie- That store sounds awesome! We dont' have one here in fort wayne,
but our grocery stores are usually pretty well stocked with good freggies.
Have a great Friday!

Deej- Thanks for the comment on my page :) I totally agree with you got to
do what you go to do. I swear if I just had about 4 more hours to my day it
would be super fantastic! 2 more for sleep and 2 more for play! I can't wait
until it's warmer and I can start working out in the garage again.

So since the weekend is my hardest time I think I'm going to create a challenge
for myself to stay on track and check in Saturday and Sunday. It helps!
Anybody with me?

Have a great Friday!

Andrea M.

Happy Friday Girls,
I hope today is a great day and the weekend even better!!

Janine, don't let the negative feelings overwhelm you. It's probably just the hormones talking. We all have bad days where you want to give up and give in but it's those days that make the good days seem even better. Keep up the great workouts and your mood will improve.

Susan and Deej, I had the original Strawberry Shortcake collection. I also had the original Smurfs, Rainbow Brite and My Little Pony. Funny how all that old stuff has made a comeback. Surprisingly, though, I wasn't so much into the Care Bears.

Deej, I think I'm straining my back during some of the CLX exercises. I need to figure out what I'm doing wrong so my form improves.

Yesterday was to be a cardio day so I popped in the TF 45 EZ workout. Let me just say that the "EZ" is deceptive. None of Chalene's cardio is easy. I've completed the workout before but last night I only made it half-way. My arms wouldn't punch and my body wouldn't jump. I'd pause the DVD to take a break then get right back into it but then my body would fail again. I finally gave up and just finished with the 10-min stretch DVD. I think most of my problem is that I was really low on my protein intake so I burned through the carbs quickly and was left with no energy. Ah, lessons learned....

So, the weekend is almost here. Friday, Saturday and Sunday are my hardest days to manage my food intake. I tend to snack a lot and end up overeating. I made improvements last weekend so I'm gonna keep on keepin' on this weekend. I need some support, though!

Hi Team!!

So sorry I'm just making it on... looooooong day!

Melanie, don't think I've heard of Brookshire's Fresh. Sounds awesome!! I have Whole Foods close by & there's rumors that a Trader Joe's is going in. I have a few staples & buy at Whole Foods. :) I love your upbeat attitude!!

Janine, feel better!!! Try to counter every negative thought with a positive one. I have a friend who was very successful with her goals once she conquered negative self-talk. I remember all too well how the hormones can affect our moods when Tom visits!! I hope you're back to yourself soon!! Do check in often :) that will help!

Susan, I do remember Popples. Also recall making a Strawberry Shortcake birthday cake once & I see those dolls are back on the shelves :) And my Grandson is a Transformer's fanatic; his Daddy had tons of them! An increase in protein may help with recovery and some good quality carbs may boost your energy. I love the P90X recovery shake. Found it extremely helpful following an intense workout & used it occasionally to get through one. I still use it sometimes for long runs. Good luck getting your project finished :)

Anne, a CLX & TF combo's a kick hiney workout! :) GO YOU!
Andrea, I'd prob not do the 2nd P90X right away. I may choose a routine to do next winter when I take a break from racing season, perhaps Insanity or a 2nd go of P90X; not sure :) I also need to do CLX as it's designed. I have Insanity but haven't used it, bought it to share with my Son. He's just finishing.

I agree there's less chance of distractions when we can get a workout in early but I realize that's not always possible and some ppl just have more energy later in the day. That would NOT be me LOL I'm soooo a morning person although I did just finish CLX Burn Circuit a few mins ago. Had planned to run intervals but just couldn't fit it in, I don't run at night & don't have a treadmill. Sometimes ya just gots to do what ya gots to do! :)

Anne, hope the back pain subsides!! Have you had it looked at by a Doc? So many ppl suffer w/ back pain. I have a little when I increase mileage but core work helps a lot. I love boating :) my bro bought a 2nd boat so hoping to get out some this summer. I live on the Ohio but we have a huge lake close by that's much cleaner :)

Everyone have a fabulous day tomorrow. If we keep our focus and truly work toward getting healthier, the rest will fall into place!!

I'm a firm believer that if we make healthy choices MOST of the time & continue to MOVE our bodies, we CAN achieve our goals; any momentary slip ups will get lost in our activity and our bod's will become efficient machines!!

Let's DO this!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, all!

Kinda late posting today because I've been running a bit behind with everything today. This morning, me, my hubby & our 2 children went to the Grand Opening of the new Brookshire's "FRESH" store in our city. Do you have one of these? If you don't, you are missing out! In a word... WOW!! Me & my hubby were SO excited perusing shelf after shelf after shelf of organic and health & fitness stuff. Pretty awesome stuff! Some nutrition plans we've done in the past have required ingredients that we previously couldn't find around these parts. Now- problem solved! This place has it ALL!! We're going to LOVE it!! And we think it will really help us in our health journey, as well. :)

How is everyone doing today? Hope you're all feeling blessed and have the energy and tenacity to tackle all obstacles and conquer better health! :)

be blessed...
