YOU SHOULD!! :) I am running a 10K this weekend and my plan is to run 10 (about a mile) and walk 1. That way I don't get brain burnout! LOL

Shirley, GL to you....keep up the good work, if I can do it, anyone can!

So I walked my run and it ended up being 5.2 miles.....I'm so S L O W....but oh well, I need to get over that and focus on the fact that I actually ran it and didn't stop for a complete hour.

I emailed a good buddy from back home who has done several of the Disney World Marathons and told her of my recent running milestone (the fact that she has run several marathons has kept me motivated) She delivered the biggest shock, by saying that she never runs more than 2-3 miles at a time w/o a walk break and she has definitely never ran 5 miles....WOW...I guess I too can complete a marathon maybe???

So today I finished a 45 minute run...I'm going to make that my new norm after my 30 minute runs.

Keep up the good work everyone!

So after I posted about having done my 2 runs I went out and had a huge lunch at Hooters....not good....way too many calories! Have not done that in a LONG time......came home and talked myself into doing the hour run.

I DID IT! Not sure how far I ran...but I ran for a complete hour....I have never done that before!!

Now what? I completed OHR....what's next? Probably trying to do it again to make sure it wasn't a fluke. emoticon

Thanks everyone!

So I have done two runs....30, 40 minutes...now the dreaded hour is left to be done sometime this weekend.

I like what running has done for my body....but I'm still up in the air about if I truly like running..LOL

Hope everyone else is chugging along.

I finished a 30 minute run still being able to breathe and smile after a 2 week hiatus. I had to travel due to my grandmother's death so I ended up taking a break from it all right when I was supposed to do my 1 hour run....grrrr

I am trying to ease back into it and figured it would be best to try to complete the final week from the beginning....1 run down and 2 more to go.....

I'm still on the C25K program (finishing week 5) but I'm planning ahead. Are there podcasts for the OHR program? If not, where can I download the info? I saw it somewhere once but I can't remember where. I'd like to transition into this program once I've finished the C25K. Thanks, Shari

I'm 2/3 done with week 6 and I know what my next goal is. I'm going to train for a 10K - and will plan on running one in October. I haven't counted out my weeks of training yet - like organized Amy, but I'll check out the time periods.

32 minutes - Week 5 day 2. And the run seemed easy!!

Assuming I have no weeks that I need to repeat - I would finish this program the week that I am to run my first 5k. I'm wondering if that is a good idea or not. I have no plans for a blazing finish - but I don't want to do anything that would wear me down and make the 5k too hard.

Should I just stay on week 8 until after the 5K?

Hiya!

I just completed my 54 minute run....I didn't think I was going to be able to do it! Again slow and steady but I did it. Whoooohooo

I have really slacked off with my eating and journaling, but I'm glad that I kept up with the running. I hope to get back on track this month and to continue to run.

I need to get a non-slip headband and I need to put my hair in a pony tail and I need to remember my knee brace and stuff....I need to go shopping before then!

Week 1 - Day 2 done!!

Outside running lessons learned:
make sure my hair won't blow in my face/mouth every 2 seconds!
make sure to run into the win first!

Since I'm going to run a 5k in June - I need to be doing as much of my running outside as possible. 2nd best option is the track at the Y.

I do put some stuff on it that is like icy hot. It's really good too! If it keeps up I'll go to the doctor. I am taking some of the supplements for joint health so hopefully it will all work together.

That's good that it doesn't cause any pain. I really wish you'd use ice. How about the icy-hot cream or patches? Definitely get a knee brace. I think you should definitely look more into why your knee is doing that and what you can do to avoid it/help it.

It doesn't HURT, it just feels akward. While I'm running I can sometimes feel my knee but most of the time it is fine. It's just after that it gets a little loud. lol I have RCD'd but didn't I. I hate to be cold so I hate using ice! lol The compression helps--I may look into getting a knee brace while I run. That might help. I need to accomplish something because I have another 5K coming up on the 19th (I think)!

I don't know if I'll ever get past week 5 of the C25K! Everytime I run now I get crunchy knees after. It's driving me CRAZY! The right one swells up all ugly and makes stupid noises every time I bend it. I want it to stop!

I am going to do a 5K in June!! I'm excited, but also apprehensive. I'm good at coming up with all the "What ifs ..."

The best thing about the timing of this is that I will have just finished up the 10 week OHR program - and then I'll do the 5K.

I just started week 4.....completed a 5K on Sat with 31:22 as my official time. I thought I was right at 30 but I will take the official time as I ran the whole thing and didn't have to walk :)

Keep up the good work! A 10K wow....I'm not there yet.

Yeah...I would definitely say that I'm starting to get that 'runner's high'. About frickin' time, too! LOL :)

I finished week 5!! 38 minutes of running and I feel FANTASTIC!! :)

Good Job! I'm on week 3 and I'm excited. I also have a 5K this weekend, probably the biggest one on the island so it should be fun.

I think I may finally be getting 'runner's high'....maybe??!!! Is that what you are feeling? :)

I need to find some good music. I only have books downloaded on my Ipod. I have no idea where to get music or how! lol Duh! There is a C25K program that I downloaded for the first four weeks that has christian music. It isn't too bad.

OMG! I know what you mean, Donna!! Check out DJ BeatSmith....it's still techno, just not as bad :) You could also download your own music and just watch the clock (although it KILLS me!! LOL)

I moved back to week 4 day 1 of the C25K today because it's been so long since I've run. I will finish week 4 then go on to week 5 and hopefully won't stop this time! I do need to find a different program to listen to though...the music is really annoying. lol

WTG Bree!

Thanks to you I'm now on W2 of OHR. I still huff and puff and go about my snail pace but I'm doing it. emoticon I'm going to follow the plan exactly as that is what I did for C25K. Has anyone else started recently?
