OK, so they say confession is good for the soulÖ so Iím going to confess. I got on the treadmill tonight with every intent of doing my W8D1 run. I didnít complete it.
Right away I knew something was different. It was harder than normal. At first I thought I hadnít drank enough waterÖ I kept running though.
About 10-12 minutes into my run, the area around my shins started to hurt and my feet were getting really heavy. It was weirdÖ I dropped my speed significantly and it didnít help.
At around the 18 minute mark I started to falter and I slowed my run to a walk. I was gulping air and totally mad with myself for not completing my run.
I went to write down my time and distance because it still counts towards my cardio for the week and thatís when I realized what had been different. Our treadmill automatically starts up at an incline of 4.5 and although I thought I had reduced it for this run, I hadnít. I havenít been using any incline for any of my runs (I figure I'll add that in later) and so I had been totally unprepared for a run on an incline tonight.
Iíve been kicking myself since I got off the treadmill but Iím going to chalk it up to a big dumb blonde moment. If my legs arenít too sore tomorrow, Iím going to attempt my W8D1 run then.
There is a thin line between knowing when to give up and when to try harder.
Dieting is unpleasant and bad days are wretched, but dropping dead is worse. Tomorrow will be better.
