I think I made it to 6ish mi. this challenge. Way short of my goal of 15 mi. I have a lot going on that is starting to distract me from accomplishing all my fitness goals...trying to get back on track mentally this week in hopes of making April a knock out month.

I'm going to be late getting results in. I just got home and somehow I hurt my elbow area and it's inflammed. Roomies mentioned tennis elbow. So, i'm typing with one hand. if i move my arm it hurts. if i dont move it it hurts.

I just finished my 8K race a little while ago. 4.96 miles. Set a PR - 49:57 WOOT WOOT! I have never run less than an 11:30 minute mile in a race - talk about stoked! I am in love with running at the moment! That is a 9.99 minute mile! I have been working my but off and it sure does feel good to run a race and see the results!

emoticon I am so excited...I didn't think I was going to get to run because of a very cold rain, but I got to go run on a treadmill at a local gym..this was a first for me...they actually programed it for a 5K run with warm up. I could watch the laps and know what I had run and/or needed to do to finish...May sound silly but I got my 5K run in and then switched to interval training with my 10K podcast and ran for over an hour with the intervals....this also allowed me to see my pace and adjust it down to allow for a longer endurance when running outside...how cool is that???

Oh yeah...5.75 miles today!!

I got 2 miles in today - but it was a tough run. I'm guessing that by undereating by 400 calories yesterday -I was left with no energy for today. Or maybe I'm crazy. But, I'll be more careful in the future.

Ok, get ready for an eye-full! I FINALLY ran 3 miles and my hip DIDN'T hurt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! emoticon emoticon
I did a great job also. I am training for a 10k. I did week 1 day 3 today. I was to run 2.5 miles at race pace! I did a 5 minute warm-up then let-er-rip! I ran at between 5.3 and 6.0 for the 2.5 miles (that was between 10:47 and 10:00). I had to use the treadmill to know my exact pace. i thought I wouldn't make it through(before I started), but during it I felt sooooo strong! emoticon I never once thought about the time that had passed, or when quitting time was!
Here is a question for ya. If I am to run at race pace, and my last race pace was 10:30. On the treadmill that is around 5.7. When I am doing that, it feels WAY FASTER than what I am actually running outside. WHAT GIVES??????
I am super-duper stoked that my hip isn't hurting like it was!!!!!!

Oh, and Nicole.....I am planning on making an appointment with James shortly after our 3rd run this month!!!! By then, I'll be dying for a massage!

Sorry, just now checking in. Amy, what am I going to do with you. I used this guy down here last month for a massage and he was good. VERY STRONG HANDS. Let me know if you want his number.

I ran 5.2 miles yesterday morning. My goal is 12 for the week. I have my 8K race on Sunday which will count for 4.96 so I am planning on getting 2 fast miles in tomorrow for my taper down. Will check in and let you know that I completed them.

Amy, you may just need your TI muscle massaged. It is very common for runners to get problems like that. Do you have one of those hard styrofoam rollers? If you do, you can lie on your side with the roller under your hip and slowly roll down stopping and resting on any spots that really really hurt. It is kind of like a poor man's massage.

Oh, you're worse than I am. I grew up around doctors and I don't trust them. Clinics maybe? We have a hospital here that will see people without insurance.Maybe there's one around where you live.

Lisa I am sorry to hear about your son and your cat. I have a 3 & 4yr. old and I can't stand for them to have something wrong! My son had to have hernia surgery when he was 3. I hated it! My other son had RSV and was put in a bubble in the hospital for 3 days. I had to reach my hand through to even touch him. I cried a lot. Today BOTH my boys are covered head to toe in poison ivy. Their privates are swollen up like UFO's. They can't sleep at night. We have to go to the doctor today and get soem shots of steroids for it. They started crying last night when I told them the plan.
"sigh" that was some venting also! i am not gettting my miles in either. My hip has hurt since last week, and I am scared of an injury, so I haven't done ANY exercise since Saturday's race! I was planning on running this morning, but after a night of NO SLEEP due to boys scratching and crying, I slept in! I am planning on getting it in sometime today!

3/23 - 2.5 miles

Goal - 12 miles

I thought this was good considering our cat died today, found out my son has a kidney infection (he's 3 yrs old and apparently it's a bad one. He'll have further testing at the end of this week). It's been a rough day but I needed to vent - so I did - on the pavement! Any prayers will be greatly appreciated.

I got 4 miles today!!

Terri, I understand about the rest day thing...I don't usually completely rest..I always feel so much better even if I only brisk walk...If my body is hurting, I don't run for a day or two..I have a friend that is a PT and she says it is fine to run daily if you can handle it just to be sure you vary the route and intensity...

Okay I think that I over-stretched with my goal. I am going to pledge 6 miles this week. My knees hurt for several days after running 4.25! I plan to run two miles three days. There, I said it. Now I just have to do it!

I learned to stretch. Then I found out, or remembered after I had forgotten, that I have to warm up my muscles before I stretch. That will be my challenge.

Ok, I'm going for 9 again this week. Since I wasn't able to reach that last week I want to do it again this week.

I kind of want to continue what Amy started last week with posting how many miles you're going to do for the week. Let's see if we can get to or beat that goal from last week.

In addition to that I want everyone to take the amount of time they stretch and add 5 more minutes to that. Don't forget to warm up your muscles before stretching by doing 3-5 minutes of cardio before stretching. Post here also on how many minutes you stretched each day. Good luck everyone!
