It's been going well.
Doing something everyday!
Today I'm doing some yard work, and going for a hike once it warms up a bit, and my coffee kicks in!

How's the workouts going, guys?

My focus has been on eating clean and jogging or cycling each day. This last week was great, down 4 pounds.

Woke up late today - really frustrated me because I had planned to work out before work. So I found a way to move a couple of very "important" late afternoon meetings - and I got my workout in !!! I was very proud of myself.

Setting my alarm again - checking it twice this time.

Way to get those fitness minutes in Blue.

On my end, this was the last day of may daughter's soccer tournament and they pulled off a victory in the last game. Best way to end the season. I used this tournament to my advantage as I acted as linesman during the games again today and finished the day with just a bit over 17000 steps. Wish I could do this everyday because it is more entertaining that a neighbourhood walk. Tomorrow I will be on Week 3 Day 1 of the Walk to Run 5K program.

5k run/walk in 0:33':11" running it straight through would probably be around 27-28 minutes, but burnout isn't what I am looking for. I'm looking to keeping this up 3x a week for a while.

I stayed motivated today by getting up at 5:15 with the alarm and doing the good old lower body workout in the garage....that's with weights...had a healthy breakfast and got my lunch made...and that has carried on through the day so far. Drinking my water and looking forward to dinner and bed!

I signed up for a personal trainer whom I have had for 8 + weeks and am actually enjoying going to the gym, which I have not done since I was in my early 20's. I am feeling toner and am seeing very slow progress on the scale, but enjoying the comments that I am loosing. I have more energy for my wife and job and enjoy doing stuff.

It is easier for me to get my exercising done if I can do it first thing in the morning. If I procrastinate, I'll have a harder time exercising. Today was a good day, I got it done early.

Great threshold run today. (Jack Daniels' terminology. Essentially a hard tempo run). Was planning for the recommended 20 mins but felt I had more so ran 25 mins total at that pace. Did 65 mins total, 5.9 miles.

I am just about to head down and get a walk in on the treadmill. I have been able to get in at least 30 minutes a day of exercise for the past several weeks. My wife and I have been on this venture together and it has really been going great. We have both lost over 30 pounds in the just 4 months. We have 10 - 15 more to lose and have continued to see steady progress toward our goals. I am excited when I see a little coming off each week and want to keep at it.

My motivation: I went in for my heart health check-up. The doc had me strip down and suit up in one of those paper gowns. then he had me get on a scale like I've never seen before. I weighed 236.6!! When I weighed myself before I left home, I weighed 228. 6 miles later, an 8 lb. gain!! My doc said any retail store scale will always be off 2-5 lbs. However, the older the scale, the more inaccurate. My scale is about 4 years old. They should be replaced every three years. Live and learn. emoticon emoticon

This July has been really screwed up. due to re-scheduling a couple of trips, my vacation has been broken up into three parts, each about a week long and a week apart, in 3 different areas of the country. Each one I'm a guest AND expected to do all the vacationing stuff. Any way, vacation #2 is over and I'm exhausted from too much sun/heat/shopping/etc! I've got five days to re-group. I feel like I need 10.

It's been a bit of a chore the last few days. Woke up with a real sore neck Wednesday morning which limited me to 0 exercise minutes. Felt a bit better yesterday so I did a yoga video to work on my flexibility and not jar it with aerobic exercise or over tense my traps with lifting. Today I was better able to move - I am not going to let pain stop me - I am just going to roll with what it lets me do...D

Three evenings now with house guests. I'm doing the evening meal cooking and trying to make dinners interesting and keep myself from overindulging. A struggle. Good news is, when filling in the nutrition tracker I find that I'm doing a better job than I had guessed I would in managing portion control and while making interesting meals. So far none of the past three days has the caloric intake busted the energy output on the charts. I hope I'm not underestimating portion sizes! I'll be checking weight tomorrow. I'm motivated toward that 155...

I'm motivated. I got the scale this morning and had gained 2 lbs. So I hit the 'recalibrate' button, and, there those two pounds were. Even though Sunday is usually a day off from exercise, I'm going to do as much yard work as I can and start chugging H2O.

Motivated today. :) Wish I'd been motivated to avoid the peach cobbler lol. But it was right there... and it was included with the meal delivery thing I ordered. I didn't know it was coming or I'd have said don't bring it... once it was here though... woulda been rude to not at least TRY it right?
Well... I'll be running that off. My math says if I run to Jersey from Iowa I should break even about half way back. :)

Pretty sad when the last post in this thread was over 7 months ago.

I was motivated today. Yard & garden work for a few hours, then a long walk with the doggie, and just got back from a 4 mile run. Now what? :)

A long standing mystery cleared up in my mind today. How can I eat just one meal some days and not feel hungry? I found out by entering the items on an El Taco Tote combo plate. I wasn't hungry because that one meal had a day's worth of calories. Mystery solved! I am motivated today, and it was delicious. I'm not fit yet but I am content with progress.

I was motivated to sleep in this morning. Been a long week of workouts and I needed the break. Plus, I'm doing a 25 mile bay bridge bike ride on Sunday, so I am letting myself recharge today.

Happy Friday, All!

I was a monster this morning. Did a 24 hour bike ride at the gym, then 30 mins on the elliptical, then 100 side straddle hops and 50 ab crunches.

Yep, seriously motivated today!

Must be the weather, I woke up and felt sore this morning. Maybe if my son goes down for the night early today I'll get a chance to bang out some stuff tonight.
