For me it is anything with an upbeat tempo but avoid Rap at all costs. The faster upbeat music gets me moving much quicker.

Classical music here. The changes in tempo change my bicycling rate and keep things from getting boring.

When i listen to music for workouts its usually heavy metal or old punk.
Mostly been listening to Howard Stern for workouts. Find myself extending my workout so I can listen longer.

I know I'm late to the party but what I use for cardio workouts is Podrunner. They have music with a constant beat and several different tempos to choose from. I need something with a steady drum beat to keep me going on long workouts.

That's a good one. I have two Apocalyptica CD's. One is only Metallica cover songs. The other is a mixture of various heavy metal songs including Pantera, Sepultura, Metallica, etc. Good stuff!

I'm with Javadoc, angry music gets me going when I'm lifting, usually loud rap music where the guys yell a lot.

And then when I'm doing cardio I switch to fast-paced music. Usually really corny heavy metal where they sing about going into battle and stuff . . . Other days it's Lady Gaga and MJ though emoticon

Believe it or not when I am running or walking I listen to Military cadences and as corny as it sounds it really keeps me motivated. For lifting I like godsmack, system of a down, really heavy, fast, music ____ But always COUNTRY in my pick up!

I listen to lots of hard rock/heavy metal, or trance/techo music. Needs to have a good driving beat to it. Rammstein, Metallica, Fear Factory... Ferry Corsten, Armin Van Buuren.

I like 80s music a lot, but when I run, it's usually my Beastie Boys station on Pandora, or the Linkin Park station. It may seem base, but the aggression in the music motivates me.

When I used a stationary trainer or biked on roads where there wasn't much traffic I'd listen to music that had an uptempo beat. I remember this as being very helpful. Now I'm in search of new music with the same uptempo beat but different from the classic rock I used to listen to. Caribbean, swing, modern, anything new that the young people are listening to. Suggestions?
