I may change to a new mask, but I am starting to get this one figured out a bit more. I was able to get just shy of 5 hours of sleep with it on last night with very few leakage problems. I am putting it on tighter than what I had believed I needed and I am having fewer problems.

I had a quattro for her mask, it didn't have the bridge to the forehead. I CONSTANTLY leaked at the bridge of my nose and it would push air into my eyes and dry them out. So I talked with my doctor who said that apparently the way my nose is shaped and the size of it is too small for the mask. EVERYTHING else was perfect. So I ended up getting a different mask with a bridge to the forehead. Now I can control how tight it sits against the bridge of my nose with the forehead bar. My mask size is a small because apparently from lip to eyebrow I'm really tiny.

Unfortunately this after the fact info. will happen again. I've often had to find out something on the web then bring it up with a Dr. sometimes who knew the fact and didn't think tell me, and occasionally didn't know at all. You really have to be your own advocate, research, and ask a lot of? The folks on this site have really helped me out.

I believe that if I shaved my beard my wife would divorce me. I had to shave it six years ago for an interview and I wasn't well liked at home for a while.

As I was going home from work I received a call from my DME, she claims that removing the Quattro mask after my nightly leakage problems that the seals will inflate (unstick themselves) and will seal back to my face again after I put the mask on. I would have liked to know that in advance....

You are smart to work-up to it gradually. You'll get it settled in no time, just takes some getting used to. On the beard ?, I shaved mine after 35 years of having one, to hopefully help my sleep- mask sealing, and it really didn't help, so I grew it back out. So, you can get it worked out, with a beard, just takes some time. Good luck

Thanks. This is all great info. I did tighten my mask down some last night while using a mirror to help even out the fit. This worked with having fewer leaks. I too have a beard so getting a mask that fits right and doesn't leak seems like it will be the major challenge.

I'm still working on my sleep stamina with the machine and mask and I have gone from two hours a night last week to four hours this week. I'm hoping for five + hours a night by Saturday.

Little new info.- I had broken my last back-up good mask, and had been using an old one, that never fit well, and so tightening it down was the only way that worked. Also, in the past, some older / more worn mask are like this.

Yesterday, I finally got a new replacement, Resmed, Quatro, and I must say with a new one there was very little tightening down, and I have a beard even. Be sure the mask fits right- I am very large, but wear a Medium, and try different types if it still leaks even after tightening up. Good luck.

Tightening the straps down is the only thing that I figured would help. I'll give this a try tonight. Hoping for five or more hours on this go around.

Have it all the time. I tried the subtle tack for a long time, now I just crank down the straps until the leak stops. Different thinking on this, but it works better for me.

I will get leakage at the bridge of the nose and a vibrating leak on the cheek.

I have been just starting out on therapy for about two weeks. I have been making progress with increasing my sleep time. My problem is I wake up to leakage after one to four hours of having the unit on. I try the subtle adjustments and lie back down and the leakage continues. Is anyone else having or had this issue? What have you done to alleviate the problem?
