Yes, you will. Hang in there.

The habits are far more important than weight change. Healthy habits help keep the lbs off, so that you don't have to lose them again, and again, and again.

The most important part, IMO, is not giving up and actually implementing the habits of healthy living: eating right and exercising regularly. No joke, my scale ain't budging. I am mad as hell but I am still getting up early and going to my pilates and ballet classes, I am still putting in time running, I am still tracking my calories - because no matter how long it takes, these are the steps that will take me to my goals. There aren't short cuts. I can choose to be mad or feel defeated, but if I give up then I AM defeated. And in the battle of wills between me and my scale I will be victorious.

Thanks for putting me on blast, Barb!! That did make me laugh, though. emoticon
I was feeling defeated, b/c I had gained back 10# in June. It's so hard to get off!! But I will make it happen!

I'm aiming to get in shape enough to be able to hike to Havasu Falls, AZ by the summer of 2015! I hope to become a certified personal trainer and/or a nutrition coach someday!

CASSIE, I went to the movies, too. Except I saw "Ted", story of a boy whose teddy bear became "real" so he could be the boy's best friend for life.

Bear creates a media stir, but the novelty wears off by the time his owner becomes a man, and no one gives a crap that he's a miracle bear anymore. He and his owner are still best budds, even as the man contemplates marriage. His fiance is both attracted to the man's child-like spontaneous side and bummed by his lack of ambition. Laughs and drama aplenty. Reminded me of our internal battles between our inner child and our inner dictator.

Congrats on getting so close to the 199 marker! Another quickie challenge might just do the trick. I'm working on it. Details in a day or so. "Exotic" request duly noted.

Brava on being less than 3 lbs from the weight in the picture you like, SUSAN.

Love this comment: "I think that just trying is an important part of the process in reaching your goals. We learn and then adjust a factor. If we don't give up, we'll eventually meet our goals!"

MOMMARINI, I am conjuring up a new short-term challenge. I want it to help us put some finishing touches on our goals for this one. It should be an assist in getting you out of those 180's and me out of my 170's. Others on the team may want to adjust some factor where they have learned what "not to do".
emoticon
I will send the team an invitation by SparkMail, after I find a cool place to walk and come up with an idea.

The scale does not define us.

We all know that and yet we can let it make us feel bad.

Your 4.5 lb loss and the efforts it took to get it don't strike me as miserable failure, either, RUBY. I do understand that you are disappointed. I am disappointed that I didn't lose all of that weight that I wanted to lose. But, so what? It will do us no good to beat ourselves up about it. That could only make us feel bad enough to think about seeking comfort in food.

I'm beginning to think that learning to handle our disappointments may take us even longer than losing the weight will. It's disheartening when we want something badly and we have missteps. We get bummed.

In the past, we have habitually made what author and shrink, Judith Beck, says is a "thinking mistake" called "all or nothing". We think "Either I'm perfect on my diet or I have completely failed." She suggests a more productive thought, "Making a mistake is definitely not the same as total failure."

CASSIE hurts for you, RUBY, because she fights perfectionism and knows how you feel, as do the rest of us. And I'm with her. I think you deserve credit for every positive action that you take, whether or not it yields an immediate weight loss. And every ounce of weight loss that takes us closer to our goal weights matters.

What do all of you think? Do we need another short-term challenge to work on the problem spots that we found during this one? As a "do-over"? Or a way to finish a goal that is close?

I can't lie, I am bummed that I didn't lose very much weight. Maybe a half-pound since we started? I did meet, and occasionally exceed, my exercise goals. I feel that the classes I've been taking (ballet and pilates) have been reshaping my body- I can see those two horizontal lines outlining where my abs will eventually be, and not just that vertical line separating the top of my gut from the bottom of my gut when I'm sucking in (haha). That's certainly a start. I also notice that my belly doesn't seem so distended (is that the right word?), I feel overall better about my shape even if my scale isn't doing any victory cheers.

So I'm sexier today than I was three weeks ago, and good for me. And good for all of us, for challenging ourselves at all. It takes a little something-something to say, Self, we're going to kick our butt a little harder, and then do it.

Go us!

Several of us have experienced slower than expected weight loss results. Here's something I read today that made ME feel good about that:
"You don't have to go fast. You just have to GO."

We have made progress with many things during the last 3 weeks. I think most of us are feeling pretty good about ourselves. If we fell short in one area, it's good to celebrate the others where we did well. I, for one, feel much sexier that I did when we began this challenge. Tomorrow will be far more enjoyable than it would have been, had I not been part of this group, the "sexy 10 team". Since there are 10 of us, that must mean that we are all "tens"

I wanted to see 175 on the scale, which was too ambitious. However, I did lose weight during this challenge. But more importantly, I met my non-scale goals. I exercised regularly and didn't eat my way through the weekend. I love this challenge for giving me that to focus on. I am having trouble setting interim goals, so thank you Barbara for giving me this challenge. It seems like we all did well.

My weigh-in last week read 153.7 lbs. These tiny increments are killing me. Had a poor-choice kind of weekend, but I will make up for it this week.

Even though I will not make my July 4 challenge goal of losing 5 lbs (a girl can dream), I did manage to meet all of my exercise goals, and I do feel that the ballet/pilates classes have been making a dent.

This weekend I went shopping and I actually bought TWO pairs of shorts. That I can wear in public. I haven't worn shorts in public in over 15 years, so that is a mini goal right there, a goal I didn't even think I had.

Still doing great with the daily step goals. Oddly enough, I'm also getting better at sleep, thanks to my little Fitbit gadget. I didn't log the dang food yesterday though. I don't "think" I did too badly with the calories consumed. I just am not sure, since I didn't track it.

Feeling good about myself and my ability to do well in July. I'm excited to see our final reports next week. We are making great progress, in one way or another.

Let me know your thoughts about what you would like to do next. Many of us knew we were setting some unrealistic goals. We just wanted to give it a shot and aim high. Personally, I still want to reach those goals that I set, especially since I have made a beginning on them.

What do you feel like?

Another 3-week challenge (details to be determined)? A break? Maybe a series of ONE-week challenges?

Next event (like July 4th or a birthday or anniversary) where you would like to feel thinner, healthier, and sexier? Thoughts on what you think would really help you. What would feel like "going against the grain" or like a daily burden?

Boo, I don't like to eat less than 1200 calories, either. My nephrologist wants me to have at least 10 cups of water each day (to avoid more stones) but I have a hard time drinking more than 8, but I think it's helping me with the weight loss. And, my daily exercising is playing a big part in helping me get a calorie deficit while eating at least 1200 calories. You're right, the weight does have to drop! I'm in this challenge until Wednesday, which will be my last weigh in (probably about noon)! emoticon

MOMMARINI, you're right too, you do keep losing weight when you eat less. I just don't want to go there, I love my food too much. Lol! I hope you're having success now!

emoticon emoticon Cassie! The retreat sounds wonderful.

I doubt that I'll be at 140 by the 4th, but my goal was really having deficits. I've only had one day that I didn't meet my goal, not too bad. I'm not weighing in until Wednesday, no sneak peaks for me! I can't wait to see what the scale says. I'm trying to make it a good weigh in by keeping my calories low, minimizing junk food, and eating lots of fruits and vegetables. We'll see... what I can tell you is that my clothes are looser, and I see less fat in the mirror!

Four days to go, that's one 4 day win! Let's go, everyone!

Quick check in....weight is 203.4........yay!

The retreat was wonderful. Met great people, got through the headaches and other detox symptoms. Got so much information and ate amazing food. Lovingly prepared vegetables, juices that were amazing and plenty of healthy fats.

I promise to get to a key board to really write. Along with physical detox is emotional release. Since the liver was the focus that releases anger and frustration. So you can imagine how good that feels.

Good work everyone.

I am closing in on 199 goal, but it is unrealistic that I will be there by the 4th.

I am definitely feeling sexier, so mission accomplished!

Let's keep pushing ourselves. The weight has to drop. SparkPeople says we need to eat a balanced diet of at least 1200 calories per day. If we eat less, the theory is that our metabolism slows down. Also SparkPeople is big on 8 glasses of water each day, to keep out bodies from hoarding water, which causes us to weigh more.

SP also says that muscle does indeed weigh more than fat. So, if the clothes are getting looser, fat is being replaced by muscle.

I'm walking at least 10k steps daily. Yesterday (Thurs) was 13,813. I average eating abt 1400 calories per day, except for one day last week when I goofed.

We have until Tues at midnight or early Wednesday. I intend to keep fighting.

Checking in. Trying very hard to stay motivated. My goal was a loss of 2 lb per week. Scale not moving despite a lot of effort on my part. I made the mistake of not measuring myself so I have no other concrete way of measuring progress at this point. I have been working out 6x a week and eating no more than 1000 calories a day. This week been particulary hard as I work third shift and the kids are home right now on summer vacation. I would love to be rewarded with a least a little bit of change on the scale. I know that not working out isn't going to get me any closer to my goal so on I go... I keep telling myself muscle weighs more than fat and I must be building a lot of muscle - LOL!

I'm not neglecting my goals, either, GREASY_JOAN. I did go out last night and am not sure how many calories it was. One meal of the wrong kind will take a few days to get through the ole system.

That does not negate the good work I've been doing for this challenge though. Onward, HO!!!

Here's my sexy update for the week.

BARBARA_BOO--164.1 by the third of July (pretentious and sexy)
*Lose 10.4 lbs (half of my annoying 20.8 lb wt gain, from 12/31/2010 to now)
NOT gonna make it; I knew it was unlikely that I would in so few days.
I'm still going to keep controlling what I can (which does not include the rate at which my body will drop the weight). I'm hoping to get to 169.9999999 by the 4th, if it's at all possible.

~Lost 0.2 lb since last we started, 2 weeks ago--current weight 174.3
~Over 10k steps all 7 days--total weekly steps, 109,807 (15,687 daily avg)
~Did 10 flights of stairs or more daily--total weekly flights, 101
~Logged dang food daily---EXCEPT for YESTERDAY
~Averaged 6 hrs and 52 minutes of sleep per night. Shooting for 7 or 8.

We have 7 more days until the big celebration of our accomplishments.

Nice job, everyone! emoticon

Here's my update in for the week:

I've had a pretty good week, not great like last week though. I don't think my weigh in reflects my efforts last week, but I know there are other variables besides body fat. I've been struggling to get big deficits and I actually had one day with only a 170 calorie deficit, but I got right back on the wagon. My average daily deficit was over 500 calories. I have one more week of this challenge to see good results and I fully intend to do just that!

SALEE100(Susan)--Not doing weight goal, though ultimate goal is to get down to 140 pounds, my weight in a picture taken on a cruise at the beach when I looked so skinny.
*To modify my behavior for 21 days to achieve 500 calorie minimum deficit every day
*Will weigh in once a week on Tuesdays, now through July 3rd
* 6/12/12: 146.8
* 6/19/12: 143.6
*6/26/12: 143.7

I've been keeping my commitment to the treadmill and not going crazy on weekends which are my two primary goals.

I've seen success: lost 2 pounds this week and fit into capris that I couldn't fit last month.

I've been trying to figure out how exactly this will be the last time I lose this weight.

Hope everyone else is having some success as well.

This is the last time I'm losing this weight.

I have not been neglecting my goals; in fact today I put in 2 full hours of working out including 60 minutes going as fast as I can on the elliptical.

I am doing well emotionally but my body seems turgid, unwilling to let any of the weight loose.

I won't likely meet my goal, but progress would be great!

I have to attend a birthday event in the late afternoon today. I'd better get going on some steps now.

I hope you all have a good day and make the goals that matter to you. If anyone hits a snag, this is a safe place to discuss what happened. We are in this together and we all have our moments. If you need encouragement, let us know. No one here is perfect. We gain strength when we put our sexy heads together.

Way to go, on those exercise goals, FLYONTHEWALL.

I'm getting some tiny but steady weight loss increments, too. Grrr! As long as we keep doing our thing, the weight will go, though. So, we just have to keep pushing forward.

Body fat % could be changing as we build muscle. Only our sexy bodies know for sure.

Thanks for the nudge, Ms BARBARA_BOO! : )

So far I am sloooowly making my way down the scale. I lost .2 bs so now I am 153.9 lbs (these tiny increments are killing me).

emoticon I have definitely been making my exercise goals! I have been taking classes at the gym and walking and even running. I took a Pilates class that I felt for about 3 or 4 days. I have been getting no less than 3 days/week. Very proud of myself for that.

Checking in (a little late) :) My goal was to lose 2 lbs per week. I lost 1.6 this week. Close... hopefully I can make up the other half pound during the next week or two. I am at a cumulative loss of 11 lbs. I am considering rewarding my first ten lb loss with getting my hair done this Sunday.

I love the fresh start of a new week. Congrats, everyone. I'm still out there fighting the good fight. Gonna feel sexier by the 4th. That's a fact!

All but 4 of our sexy participants checked in, and unless they are on a trip or something, they may have forgotten about us. It happens. We have a lot on our minds.

We look forward to hearing about your retreat when you return, CASSIE.

You know its bad when you can't remember your goals!

But, I scrolled down and realized I achieved one...I am wearing one of the formerly tight capris.

I held a plank and did downward dog one morning and I lifted milk crates of books today, so I will give myself creative license and say i do two mini arm toning sessions this week.
Yesterday my weight was 209. I'm consistently weighing in under 210 which is great.

I have signed up for the detox retreat for next week. Veggies, fruits, nuts avocado and just small amounts of guinoa.

I started yesterday by stopping the coffee and after cookies, cakes, Italian bread and crackers yesterday I am stopping sugar and white flour as of today. Participants were asked to do this, if possible. The leader also said no judgement if you can't. He overall seems very gentle, while also giving a sense of empowerment.
I wasn't sure if I wanted to or would be able to do this workshop. I explored my fears of feeling deprived, etc. Then I realized I would like to take on this challenge. A lot of my sense of being able to do this is from the challenges here and the support and encouragement I receive from yinz.

So Anyhoo, if you don't hear from me next week its because I am retreating, but I'll surely report for the 4th. emoticon

Here's my *sexy* check in for the week (haha!):

I've had a great week overall. I weighed in today and actually saw the scale move down to 143.6. I don't expect that large of a loss next week, though, as I'd mentioned before my initial weigh in was elevated due to some bad eating prior to the challenge!

* 6/12/12: 146.8
* 6/19/12: 143.6

ETA: And yes, I'm starting to feel sexy!

I made most of my goals for the week. Not as much exercise as I planned, but I have a sense of being back at it. This week's mantra: If you are tired of starting over, stop quitting!

Increased treadmill time.
Tracked my food.
Did not go crazy over the weekend.
Feel confident, I'm back on track.

I consider it a win for the week (and I lost 1 lb.)

Wishing everyone else success as well. Go Team!

It's almost TUESDAY, the day for us sexier-by-the-minute sex kittens of all ages to check in for the week.

GREASYJOAN, I have changed your name in our challenge team listing. I'm so glad to hear that you are still working toward your July 4th goal. Me, too. I like how you describe this challenge, and I agree. My motivation is strong since the challenge is short and sharply focused. I may or may not make it to my goal, but I am going at it full force.

In my weekly competition with my 3 daughters, to see who can get the most steps per week, I had 2 days early in the week with fewer steps than I would have liked. By Thursday, I knew I had to hit it hard from that morning until midnight Sunday, in order to beat them for the week.

By the Sunday night deadline, I had walked over 100,000 steps for the week, some of it late at night in my house and outside with a flashlight. Whatever it took, I was not going to let some young 45, 48 or 50-yr-old whippersnapper child of mine outwalk me. I'm proud of myself AND you SUSAN for being determined enough to take those extra steps and burn those extra calories, to get what we want.

You wish you could have avoided the snacks, I wish the same about my 2 days of sucky step numbers on Tues & Wed, but they happened and we did something about them. We kicked some butt, you sexy thing!!!

Hear us roar!!!

I'm off to get my zzzzZZZZzzz
See yinz in the morning.

Thanks Boo!

I have to report that I had a near miss yesterday. I called in sick to work because my migraine made me nauseated, and ended up in snacky mode. When I finally logged my calories for the day, I realized that I would have less than 100 calorie deficit unless I did something. So, I ran around my house from 9:30pm until 10:30pm, and burned about 500 calories. I'm not proud of myself though, I just wish I could have avoided the snacks altogether.

I am still here and still working on the "project" of the challenge. I don't know if I will make it, but the motivation to do the right thing is strong. I think I'm liking a short challenge with a very sharp focus.

I have changed my Spark Name. I did not do so lightly but my old name was cropping up too much on google searches. My new name is from a poem by Shakespeare and suits me a bit.

Hugs to you, too, SUSAN. I miss your sexy little self when I'm not here.

I was a little disappointed with my "high gear" of yesterday. Stuff happened. I tracked the food and slept 8 hrs and 20 min, which was good. My steps were 3246, and I got in 4 flights of stairs. I have more steps and stairs today already. It's a better day.

Congrats on the deficit, SUSAN. You are updated.

I was out being a trophy wife at a long luncheon yesterday. Ate reasonably, but calories in pretty much matched calories out. I got in my 10 flights of stairs but didn't get to my 10k step goal. And I was awakened by the phone after sleeping 6 hrs. Not too bad, but I'm getting myself in high gear today.

Have a good one. Stay sexy!!! The 4th will be a blast.

I'm on day 2/21 and so far, so good! I got a 692 calorie deficit yesterday.

I'd like to update my paragraph again since I weighed in yesterday at 146.8 pounds. I don't think that weight is indicative of where I stand right now because I spent the 5 days prior to it eating the wrong stuff. I weighed in last week at 144.6, and if that's closer to my actual weight, I stand a much better chance of getting to my goal. Anyway, we'll ALL see how it goes!

*Starting weight on 6/12/12: 146.8

IDEBORAH, it means a lot to me to lose as much as I can of my regained weight, too. Maybe it's symbolic or something, like I'm erasing guilt. I just know I'm feeling good about pushing myself to work hard so that I have something to show for my efforts by the 4th. I'm very glad you are doing it, too. This is a good confidence rebuilder for us.

Thank you for being here, too, MOMMARINI. Celebrations for the 4th are fun for me since it's one of the first warm holidays we have in Wisconsin. Brr! After coming out of hiding, after the winter, people seem to be having so much fun in their skimpy clothing. I don't want to miss out on that by feeling big, rather than sexy. And after 3 straight weeks of losing weight, I usually feel like I can rule the world.

I love the cruise picture as motivation, SUSAN. It's a great image to keep you working and thinking sexy. As you said, you're almost there.
emoticon

DOULTON, I'm liking this challenge, too. Thanks for asking how we're doing. I have your problem in the evening, so I have now closed my kitchen for anything but water, tea or coffee after 9pm, like I'm at a hotel. And each time an urge to eat hits after 9, I have a split second to tell myself, "Kitchen's closed. Do something else right now." I read. I play piano. I talk to the DH. I pet the kitties. I get on the computer. Anything that I enjoy. Once I start really thinking about something besides food, the urge passes. But if I start debating with myself, "Do I or don't I eat this whatever it is?", I am a lost puppy.

Great to see all of those "GOAL MET" icons on your weekly chart, JOL! WooHoo!!

I am getting over 12k steps and 10 flights of stairs daily and a minimum or 7 hrs sleep nightly since we started, and I'm proud of that. Been tracking the food, too. The challenge gives me a pay-off to look forward to, in less than 3 more weeks. And speaking of sleep, I need to go to bed right now. I can sleep until 9 or 10, so that will work. Goodnight and good luck, as a famous TV newsman used to say.

I'm wanting a challenge, so thank you Boo. I want to feel confident that I'm back on track and on the way to losing the enormous amount of weight I gained back from my goal weight. So my goals are to:
Use the treadmill no less than 4x a week
Track my food
Not go crazy with food and relaxation over the weekends.

This should net me a 6-10 pound loss.

I made it to the treadmill this morning and am on track with calories and feeling positive.
So far; so good.

This is the last time I'm losing this weight.

How is everyone doing? I like this challenge and I'm keeping it in mind as I proceed. So far so good. My primary food goal is to avoid mindless late evening eating. I am great at having perfectly clean and virtuous days and then when I have to feed the cats their final meal, I lurch around the kitchen stuffing things in my mouth. I should feel the cats at around 9 PM, then make certain that I don't go near the kitchen after that. It will help.

I was looking at a picture taken of me from a cruise in the caribbean that DH and I went on. I was wearing a bikini, and at my goal weight of 140 pounds. I looked thinner than I remember being. I want to get back there, and it's only a few pounds away!

Boo, here's my updated paragraph!

When I entered my weight in a graphing program today, it projected 7/19/2021 as the date when I will reach my goal, based upon my recent behavior and weight entries. The year, Twenty Twenty-ONE? That was a cold spash of water in the face.

On New Year's Eve of 2010, a little over 17 months ago, I was feeling my oats and proclaimed that I would reach my SP goal during the following year. Since then I have gained 20.8 lbs, and that bugs me. I want to really push myself to lose half of that gain before the 4th. I think I will feel better about the gain, if I can do it. I know better than to set an unreasonable goal like that, but I've decided I want to fail is a spectacular fashion. And I might just be able to achieve the loss. We shall see. Doing something hard will make me feel good.

Here are my goals:
*164.1 by the third of July
*Lose 10.4 lbs (half of my annoying 20.8 lb wt gain, from 12/31/2010 to now), Wt today 174.5
*10k steps or more daily & 10 flights of stairs or more daily

I'm in. :) I'd like weigh under 250# by the 4th. Currently at 264.6, so 14# in three weeks! Sounds unrealistic and ambitious, but I'm gonna push myself. I went on a camping trip last week and gained 10#!! I don't know if it's all fat? Surely some of it must be muscle! I was canoeing, hiking, and swimming every day. Pleeeeease let some of it be muscle. Damn you, smores!

I want to feel sexier by the 4th, b/c I can tell that my gut is coming back, and I liked it better when I could see my sides getting smaller! Or as my boyfriend told me, "You're getting fLat!" lol

By completing my goal, I will reward myself with a facial! And a pedicure. I might have to do them myself (cheap), but it'll be some ME time.

I just want to modify my behavior for 21 days by getting a 500 calorie minimum deficit every day. My body may or not decide to drop the pounds if I do that...

I will weigh in once a week on Tuesdays, starting weight will be tomorrow, and my last weigh in will be July 3rd.

Thanks for joining us, FIGURE, FLY and JOL. We hate to feel sexy all alone.

150 is another of those emotional walls we like to bust through and see what it's like on the other side, isn't it? And no worries if you are not in America. We have our own battles to wage and our personal "independence" to celebrate. Patriotism is right up there with religion. Some use it to feel superior to others. Gak!

This team just likes to attend the parties.

And, of course, we want to wear cute stuff and feel sexy, as long as we are there.

Since some of us are "reaching for the stars" with our goals, I thought you might enjoy something being used to motivate radio execs and sales teams. It was sent to me today by my husband who is always giving me "assigned reading". What a pain! This one, I like.

"The person who achieves spectacular failure
has at least attempted something bold.
Failure is a temporary condition.
Success is likewise temporary.
Life, itself, is temporary.
So quit hesitating.
Do something.

Mediocrity comes from having perfectly implemented tried and true, traditional wisdom.

The outcome is the only thing that separates confidence from hubris. If your bold idea succeeds, you were a confident visionary. If your bold idea fails, the walking dead will accuse you of being full of yourself. "It was hubris," they will say.

Ignore the zombies. Life is risk. Risk is life. The only death is mediocrity. The only stupidity is fear. Fling yourself into something uncertain. The view from the edge is spectacular. What the hell, go ahead and put all your eggs in one basket. If you lose those eggs, you can find some more. The world is covered with eggs.

Zombies invented the lie that curiosity killed the cat. But it wasn't curiousity that did her in. It was boredom."

This sounds like an awesome idea! Not American, but may as well celebrate. I plan on dropping 2% bf as per my (very inaccurate) bf scale. That will make me feel sexier and be my own private celebration of 4th of July. I weigh myself on Sundays, so may post results then.

Good luck everybody. To a sexier team!!!

I would really love to be 5 lbs down for the 4th! That'll put me at about 150 lbs, and that much closer to being at a "healthy" weight!

Other goals: Exercise 3x/week, at least 40 minutes, or 120 minutes per week.

CASSIE and DOULTON, I am excited that you both want to go for it and get that dang "200 barrier" in the rear view mirror.

I want to set an equally meaningful and inspiring weight goal for myself, which I will do by tomorrow, after I weigh myself. Since my wireless scale is set up to send my weight directly to my SP ticker, the weight there now should be my weight from about a week ago. I'll check, to make sure the connection is still working.

CASSIE, the time is now. A day devoted to independence sounds like an ideal time to just "git er done".

I am thrilled to meet you, DOULTON. You will fit in well, here. I love your wit and humor. I'm an old lady, too (70 last month), and I've heard "geriatric sexy" can get pretty naughty. I will be cheering for both of you, because you both sound like you are ready to work hard for it.

I already set a goal for the 4th to be under 200. I weighed in yesterday at 206.2 and today at 209! So I am getting closer. I am consistently weighing in Under 210 these days. I am doing this workshop

www.facebook.com/permalink.php?id=34

21789294&story_fbid=145090252290282

So it should help. I feel I got stuck just under 210, then went up last summer. So now it is my wish to break through and I am giving it all I got.

My other goals are to comfortably where two pants that are still just a bit top snug.

I also feel my arms can use some toning...so 2x per week weights.

So:

199 or less lbs by the third of July
Wear currently snug capris (photo of that when achieved)
And 2x weekly weights.
Will report on Tuesdays.

I'm an old lady who has not thought about being "sexy" since Nixon was in office. And oh, how sexy he used to make me feel. emoticon Did you know that Nixon wanted to set a "guaranteed income" for Americans?

But, Barbara Boo, I think we need some more action here and here is what would make me feel "geriatric sexy":

I am trying and trying to hit the scale below 200: I'll take 199 by the 4th with delight. It should be possible. This will give me more motivation. I spent two hours today working out!

I'm not patriotic because we live in a plutocratic theocracy (which is an oxymoron if ever I heard one). But there is a 4th of July in Norway and Denmark. I want to feel sexier on the 4th of July because obesity has become the American way and I want to reject it.

RIght now I"m at 210 and 11 pounds is a lot for an old lady to lose in 24 days. But let me go for it!

I'm sensing a need among some on the team for one of our short-term challenges. And today I passed by a magazine stand where words like "Get Sexy Now" jumped off the covers.

If you want to gain the motivation to drop pounds, fit a certain outfit, feel more fit, buff, powerful, or whatever else it would take for you to feel happy, free, and sexy for a special 4th of July celebration, just post what you would like to do, right here on this thread, and let's get started. Give yourself the accountability and support, not to mention the fun, of working on it together.

The challenge will begin this Tuesday and end 3 weeks later, on Tuesday July 3rd, the day before the big celebration.

Here are the rules:

1. Choose a goal that will make you feel sexier on the 4th. If your goal is weight loss, tell us how much you want to lose during the 3 weeks of the challenge.

2. Check in each Tuesday and update your progress toward that goal. If your goal is weight loss, tell us how much you lost or gained during the previous week. If it's a gain, checking in provides a fresh start.

3. Stop in as many times as you need to during the week, to play, brag or get help.

4. Tell us why you want to feel sexier on the 4th?

5. Tell us how you will reward yourself when you have completed all 21 days.

Give it some thought and decide what you would like to accomplish and start making your action plans. Time's a wasting. As the magazine covers and that little voice inside us would advise, "No more procrastination. Let's get sexier NOW."

Smooches to you,
from your Separation of Church and Weight Team Leader,
BARBARA_BOO
