Ack, yeah.... been off the horse. Not entirely, but enough to not be hooting about success.

(except: as of Sunday, I hit 56 pounds of loss....woot!)

I've been looking for a class to take, but missed the deadlines for the rec center so have to wait a couple months for that. In the meantime, I've exploring some wii exercise games. There is a learning curve, so the jury is still out on those.....

Rest and heal up, Boo! Pushing yourself too early is asking for more ickiness......

Happy Friday!

Let's keep at it, ZERELDE. I've been coughing my head off all week and have slowed down a bit. I'll get back up there. I do what I can and I'm still hoping to get my 1000 fitness minutes goal before the end of the month.

Morning, Boo!

I haven't been around much, either. Life continues to give me ample excuse for not doing much; yesterday was oral surgery. This is a limited-use excuse, though, so hopefully I'll be back on track soon! Congrats on your award - it's strange how much I love those little virtual trophies.... You're absolutely going to hit 1k, with 500 done already!

Hi, ZERELDE. I haven't forgotten about our plan to meet here. Sorry I've missed a few days of entering my thoughts.

The exercise tracker here keeps up with my steps and notifies SP about my exercise minutes, so I received the 500 exercise minutes award for the month, so far. I'll keep pushing, to hit my goal of 1000 for Jan.

I hope you are finding some time for YOU, even with all that you are doing at home and work. It's hard.

Welcome to our team's free gym.

We're here to help with motivation and provide companionship as we make the important lifestyle change that includes consistent exercise. We're open 24 hours a day. Ask fitness questions, if you need to, and we'll locate answers when we can.

It’s good to do exercise in packs. We’re more apt to keep it up, more likely to succeed, by sharing our exercise efforts with others who are also making exercise a priority. Come on in and get acquainted with your team mates.

Stop in anytime and post what you have done or plan to do. Chat with others about your progress. You can keep track of whatever you wish, whether it’s weight, inches, paces/steps, miles, reps, anything that improves your motivation. And have fun with it, even if you have to suspend reality and play.

We may not like exercise, but we do it anyway. For our heart, for our mind, for our body, for our loved ones. It makes us healthier and helps us maintain a lower weight. Group activities are great motivators. We're all here to get started on our journey “To Be Fit, Strong & Sexy”.

Thanks, Z!

I have beaten my "10,000 steps daily" for 5 days now. "Fit, strong and sexy", here we come.
I painted the basement floor today and still didn't have enough steps. So, I had to do some walking to get to the 10,000. I also climbed 25 floors, so I'm pooped. Gonna get in the team gym's hot tub.

Congrats on all of those activity points. I believe there's a benefit in everything that happens. You just didn't know what your benefit was when you were working for two. Glad you survive. Hope your Friday evening home remedy has you feeling better and that your cold doesn't hang on for much longer.

Woot on the weight! Nice work. My scale seems to be applying negative reinforcement today, even though I came in below target on food yesterday. I'm blaming bloating.

Yesterday kicked my sorry butt; I threw a holiday party (at work) for all my clients (youth...). My office partner was decidedly under-whelming in re: pulling her part of the load, so I ended up working for two.

The downside: I got home and nearly collapsed, and the cold I've been fighting seems to have dug in a bit more deeply (Rx: EmergenC, vitamins, the form of pseudophed that Oregon allows one to buy, and as mellow a Friday evening I can muster, washed down with a movie and a glass of red wine....).

The upside (because I always try to look for it): My activity tracker thinks I went crazy and I clocked in a bunch of Activity Points (Weight Watcher, you know....). I got more activity points in one day than I have in a month.

I thought of you several times yesterday, especially about your 10,000 steps. That's a lot of steps! I respect that you get those done every day.

I stuck to my plan again today (3 days down, 362 to go). I did a few weights and 10,702 steps. Now I'm exploring our team gym, to see what other mischief I could get into here. I'm all excited because I lost some weight.

Hi, ZERELDE!!
emoticon
So great to see you. We should meet here and do this together. Gyms are more fun with friends.

Finding a few minutes to sneak away from all you do for others and do something for yourself requires planning, for sure. That's why you haven't seen me around here much lately. I have done a humongous amount of cleaning, purging, donating, selling and repairing in preparation for selling our too-big house.

I've neglected myself for too long. I feel fat, and I'm tired of eating crap and not fitting my favorite clothing. I figure we deserve some time for ourselves. Plus, we'll do what we do for others better if we know we are actively going after some of our own personal goals. Neglecting myself makes me cranky. How about you?
emoticon

I have come up with a list of goals for myself and posted them on our team's "Lean & Mean in 2013" thread, and that feels good. And since we have this fancy team gym, I thought I would stop by here every day, to make sure I get in my 10,000 daily steps.
emoticon
I hope to see you here when you can make it.

Oh, I need to get motivated on this! I've lost 54 pounds so far, but I'm struggling with my activity level. I have an activity tracker, and now I get hard evidence that I am SEDENTARY. Maybe less than a few months ago, but still....

My goal is to get above 100% on my ActiveLink every day. I haven't even hit 50% yet, and there is nothing but work and a holiday party between now and bed time.

However do I find the time to take care of me? Argh!

As I have been downsizing my closets, I found several outfits, I would like to wear again. So, here I am at our gym.

I did 10,051 steps (per my Fitbit tracker) yesterday. My goal is to get in at least 10,000 steps per day all year. So far, so good. One day down, 364 to go.

Time to get our gym all decorated and ready for the onslaught of new members who will be joining us in January.

Post your suggestions for any desired new equipment, and we will make it magically appear for virtual use by our team members.

I think I'll take a few laps around our walking track tonight, to get in a few more steps toward my daily goal of 10,000 steps. Feel free to join me.

Thanks for the ap recommendation, ZERELDE. DH and I are going bicycling today, so I downloaded it and I'm going to try it.

Yesterday, I did my usual 30 minute walk at work.

Sunday, I did about 1.5 hours of yoga tune-up mini-videos. It felt pretty easy at the time, but I'm sore now. The videos feature the use of "yoga balls" which you massage into various muscles to work out kinks.

Saturday, I did a 30 minute run which I'm still recuperating from. Since I started doing barefoot running, this is the first time I've overdone it. I basically added a 3rd day to my week, making it a straight run instead of a run/walk. My mistake, I'm going to be taking it slower...

I just found this cool smart phone ap called Endomondo... not new to the world, but it is to me, and it's very fun! Tracks my bike ride - and when i come home, I can pull it up on their website, see my route superimposed over the google map, with stats like speed and altitude on a second-by-second basis.

I slow down a lot on hills!

Pretty fun, and free... a good blend.

Tomorrow I'm gonna ride faster. And longer. Like the bionic woman.

Since I don't have dance team practice now, I am looking to replace that exercise with something else.

I have a new gadget, a Fitbit, that tracks steps (even flights of stairs), distance traveled, and calories burned. My goal is a minimum of 10k steps per day and 10 flights of stairs. Today, I did 12,822 steps, 5.07 miles, 10 flights of stairs. Goal met for today.

Today, I got on my mountain bike and rode about 13 miles, it was a good workout, but not as good as a run would have been. I've been trying to let my calf heal after it was strained doing physical therapy. What a hoot, I strained my calf right in the PT office, doing exactly what I'd been told to do! Anyhoo, it'll be ok, it just slowed my running down some which may be a good thing. I don't want to get back into running so fast that I injure myself like that again.

I haven't been successful in getting up early, but the whole lack of sleep thing snow balled and I'm still tired. Last night a got a little more sleep but I'm pretty sure I won't be able get up early tomorrow... I am, however, getting my exercise. I'm finding ways while at work. Yesterday, I marched in place in front of my computer, and today I got a break and walked 30 minutes! emoticon

For the first time in forever, I got up early and got 30 minutes of exercise on my stationary bike! Then, just a few minutes ago, I completed a 15 minute walk. Every little bit adds up!

You're going to be sore, Doc! I just got back into running after having knee surgery in January and OMFSM, I could hardly walk after just a 20 minute run/walk! It feels so good though, to finally move my body and get my heart rate up so high!

Today, I just did some fairly mild exercise, though I was in the lower aerobic range, for 50 minutes.

Wow, I had over 1100 calorie deficit yesterday. It's not happening today, though, I'm at work sitting all day. I will get a little exercise when I get home at 7:30 pm tonight, 30 minutes of mild aerobic activity. I've gotta keep my streak going. I will get a deficit today.

Today, I have about 2 hours of physical therapy, a good amount of it will be strength training! And, I just finished a dance video, got a good amount of sweat going, so I guess it was aerobic! emoticon I'm trying to keep my streak going with exercise and calorie range. Today is day 4. I work both weekend days 6:30am - 7pm, with a probably inability to exercise. So, I commit to doing a cardio dance video each night when I get home! This is exciting!

I went to my ortho doc yesterday for my final post-op visit, and I got a lubricating shot in my knee. Boy, was that painful... for about 5 minutes, then I was back on my feet. This morning, I noticed that for the first time I had no knee discomfort going down steps! Although, later today, it does seem to be a little sore. Also, I got the go ahead to start running in 2 weeks from yesterday! emoticon Well, I will have to start really slow, 5 minutes at a time, and then a day or 2 rest to see if it hurts the knee. Sometimes, you don't know if something's really hurt for a couple of days. The body's funny that way. Anyway, I'm just excited that I get to try again. And, I'm getting a brace for my knee that will help take pressure off the meniscus-less area. Hope abounds!

And, today I went for a 30 minute walk during a break at work! I need to keep trying to get a break at work so I can exercise, it takes a certain amount of mental energy to do that.

I'm trying to ease back into exercise. Since my knee surgery 3 weeks and 2 days ago (but who's counting), I've tried some exercise but then pain came afterwards, well I'm trying again. I've pretty much decided I'm going to do my dance videos and walking (in addition to my PT exercises). I will ice my knee if it starts aching after exercise. I've learned from my PT that a little aching is ok, as long as it isn't prolonged!

So, today I walked for 30 minutes! The last time I tried to walk I got sharp pain in my knee after 15 minutes. Yay for progress!

Yesterday I did the 37 minute spirit groove dance video plus the SP video for the January Challenge. I didn't end up going tv shopping with DH yesterday because he poured concrete and was waiting for it to dry. lol! I was happy about that because it would have left me feeling too rushed when I got home... I had to work today and I wanted a quiet evening.

Today, I'm at work and will be lucky to get a walk in. My knee is hurting, so maybe it's ok not to walk... I should at least be able to do a short video, though.

Did that pacing make your DH nervous? lol. Mine would get agitated and tell me to stop.

I did the latin groove dance video twice yesterday, plus the SP 8 minute cardio workout, 62 minutes total! I don't think I'll be able to do as much today since DH is talking about going tv shopping...

It's cold enough now for me to run a little during my break and not get sweaty! Today, I ran 10 minutes of my 35 minute break. I walked the other 25 minutes. emoticon

I'm trying to motivate myself to do some cardio even tho I can't run right now. So, yesterday and today, I did 30 minutes of brisk walking! Better than the alternative. It felt good to get my blood moving again!

Yesterday, I did my physical therapy exercises in the early part of the day and then did a 30 minute run in the evening. I thought my knee was fine at first but when I got up off the couch at the end of the night, I could barely walk. I guess I'm not ready to run yet! I have an appointment with a ortho knee specialist in a few weeks and I hope to find out what's going on with it.

I did my 20 minutes of SP fitness videos yesterday, it was easy because I didn't work. Today, was a different story, I actually did 25 minutes of cardio but only because I locked my door, covered the window, and did my own little aerobic exercises... I did a very good job of getting my heart rate up, so I'm proud of myself! I was creative and managed to get it done in a very unfriendly exercise atmosphere! Yay me!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Yesterday, I did do the SP video which takes 20 minutes even tho it's advertised as 10... warm-up, cool-down, plus extra minutes doing the workout...

Today, I want to do another SP video and my PT exercises.

I went to the ortho doc the day after my knee incident and was sent to a physical therapist. I now have orders not to run, bicycle, or do lower body strength training.

Today, I did upper-body strength training with my TRX (mostly), and then I did Coach Nicole's walking workout. Total workout time was 40 minutes.

Yesterday, I did lower body strength training with TRX mostly. Used 50 pounds total weight with dumbel to do 20 lunges each leg...

Today, I started out with a fast run but my knee suddenly popped and I couldn't run anymore. Walked to get my bicycle and finished my workout time of 33 minutes.

Today, I ran 44 minutes then walked 1 minute, then ran 2 minutes, walked 1 minute x3, then ran to finish. Very glad to be able to run tho my knee did hurt afterwards. I will take tomorrow off, I'm doing a 12 hour shift anyway...

Yesterday, my brother dropped by on his way back to TN. He wanted to exercise so we did some running and a lot of walking. We were outside either walking or running for 1 hour and 45 minutes! We ran for about 3 miles total (30 minutes) and walked the rest...

I did 75 minutes scrubbing the dry wall off of a concrete floor and using a mop and a bissel to get it up. Bobybugg said I burned approximately 4 calories per hour.

My right knee became reinjured when I ran last time and I didn't feel like testing it out again today. Maybe tomorrow.

Strength training was done on the TRX... I don't put my feet in it at all anymore since I think that's what the last straw for my knee was.

Yay, I was able to run today! I ran for 13 minutes fast, then slowed down a bit for the rest of the run. My route changed because I wanted to mail a letter and it's 1/2 mile to the mail box so I got to vary my routine today. It felt great to run!

My knee is injured from the TRX but sometimes running seems to help my knees recover from mild injuries. Today, that wasn't the case, I tried to run, ended up running only a few seconds and then just walking for 1 lap, 12 minutes. Then, I switched to bicycling, several laps, for 34 more minutes. I stood up on the bicycle fairly frequently to make the workout more intense.

I forgot to post this yesterday, I ran 37 minutes, 25 of them were fast. Then I did lower body strength training! Note to self- NEVER put my feet into he TRX again, unless I want to injure my fragile knees! I could hardly walk yesterday after I did that.
