We have Korean baths?? Where??? Damn, I missed that door!

emoticon

Happy Belated Birthday, Boo!!! Sorry I missed it. You don't look a day older at all. Actually, with all the extra positive thoughts lately, I'd have to say you look ten years younger!

I got stuck in the move 'em and stack 'em section of the gym this weekend and couldn't find my way out until this morning. Man, are my muscles tired. But I did end up with lots of empty tubs to store things in (after the garage sale, in case you haven't seen my other posts). I also found time (and the energy, which wasn't easy) to walk Molly both Friday and Sunday.

Don't count the days; make the days count.

I presume there is already an in-locker-room whirlpool? That's one point where non-coed has an advantage. though I understand the Korean baths are coed and nekkid.

Thank you, PENGUIN! I read that you would be doing "the scale hop" this morning. That's a dance I have trouble with, but I know I'll be able to do it better eventually.

I tend to lose my balance on that one. I get too excited and lose focus. Or I get upset because I'm lagging behind the beat.

I've been to the gym to work out on the machines this morning and I'm about to leave for Tap Class. Now that yesterday made me a year older, I'll have to work extra hard to stay strong and healthy.

BTW, I hear our World Class Team Gym has plans to add even more FREE services and equipment for our JUNE GYMNASIUM. Anyone know what they might be? It seems like we already have anything a person could imagine here. I wonder what's left.

Slow and steady, VYRIEN. Sounds like it'll be OK.

I have to hit it again tomorrow, too. I'll workout at the gym before my 12:30 tap class.

Thanks for the beautiful song, MAMA! Yes, Janis would have probably lapsed into Happy Trails, but she would have called me John...

All I did today was take a 45 minute walk, and go to a wonderful party at a friend's house where I danced a little and had a great time celebrating my 67th birthday.

But I think you and your husband had more fun!

The pool felt great (1st time we've gotten in it this year - we had to wait for some work to get completed)! I did an hour of water walking and another 30 minutes of vacuuming the pool (okay, not in that order). Got a new swimsuit and, lordy! I've GOT to lose some weight FAST! This suit is heavy duty spandex and it took both my DH and myself FIVE MINUTES to pull that sucker up and over all the bumps and lumps -- it that thing busts a seam - everyone will have to run for their lives! In any event - it won't be pretty.

THEN, I came in and did a little on the Playstation 2 -- DDR. It has been months since I did it and I definitely need lots of practice. I watched my son get on the treadmill (LOL I HATE that damn thing!) and I LOOKED at my step dvd but didn't put it in the machine! BUT, I did get in a little more than my one hour of cardio I have committed to, so I do feel good about that.

Now, I just have to figure out how I'm gonna handle the suit issue when DH is at work? I may end up having to sleep in that contraption! - no! that won't work - I get up 2-3 times a night - I'd just have to start wetting the bed again, I guess. The neighbors couldn't handle me swimming naked. Another dilemma!

Not doing much today. The weather is nice so we will probably go for a leisurely walk as soon as we finish watching the Kentucky Derby.

Dude is bugging me to go hear our neighbor play harmonica in a blues band tonight. Not sure I'm in the mood to hang out in a smoke-filled bar.

I might fall asleep. I'm a little tired.

I made up a class I had missed by staying for a second one after mine ended on Thursday night. I tapped for 2 straight hours. I got to practice some of the new stuff from my class, by staying. That worked out.

This morning (Friday) I did 45 minutes of strength training at the gym before my pilates class, which, happily, wasn't as difficult as last week.

No luck finding the missing letter, BARB, not even in the trash. I'm hoping it was just slow mail. I haven't gotten another call. Good sign.

What a pain! Side benefit: I got rid of some paper from the stacks.

We can learn a lot from dogs. They REQUIRE their walks, if they are to be happy.

It's raining here, too. I have a tap class tonight. This is the one with the instructor that likes to make me jump and do turns.

I'll do a little decluttering this afternoon, hoping to locate/or not a letter that I remember addressing. And I remember the stamp. After that, I'm drawing a blank. I THINK I put it in the mailbox Friday, but the person who was to receive it called. It's not there yet.

I'm calmly sorting and tossing junk from the stacks where it MIGHT be, if it isn't just a slow mail issue. Uncertainty is such a pain. I'll STAND while I sort, to burn more calories.

I love Idol! I rested yesterday, too, because the rain just won't go away. Poor Molly tore the stuffing out of the comforter on our extra bed because she didn't get walk. She's definitely good incentive to exercise.

The penguin may have overdone it yesterday. She did a lot, and today the huddle says she needs support.
I checked on her, but haven't talked to her yet.

I'm resting today. Yesterday wore me out. I'll stretch and lift some weights while I watch "Idol" tonight.

I think the trainer put the equipment away today, MOMMY. After working out I only had 15 minutes to get to the dance studio AND I was getting pooped.

A certain PENGUIN tricked me into practically having a stroke. I am lucky to be alive.

She calmly stated that she hated "HAPPY FEET". The dancing in that movie was done by my favorite tap dancer, Savion Glover. So, I flipped out, had a temper tantrum, kicking, screaming & rolling around on the floor, until I could barely breathe.

To relieve the stress, I headed for the gym. After an hour of circuit training and 30 minutes on the elliptical trainer, I tap danced at the studio for an hour. My heart rate monitor says all of that burned a total of 1574 calories.

So, thanks, DANCINGPENGUIN. I was feeling kind of sluggish this morning.

Now, Boo, you be sure to put things back where you found them. I didn't clean up that mess for nothing. (Ooo, sorry, the mom in me just snuck out.)

When I got to the gym yesterday it was closed - something about a leaky roof and over-active air conditioning . . . (Actually, it was cold and pouring rain here, so Molly and I decided to forego our walk. I was busy with Annie Get Your Gun auditions anyway.)

Don't count the days; make the days count.

I found some muscles I'd forgotten. Out of town visiting relatives this weekend, I walked in an unfamiliar neighborhood. HILLS, compared to my current 'hood! I used to live in a hilly neighborhood, but definitely not this one. Even the incline settings on the treadmill don't replicate how this felt. I made a point of doing it again yesterday morning before getting in the car for a long drive. Today I treaded on somewhat even terrain. Then a short walk with the family in the evening.

Wow! It's easy to find all the equipment today. I thought elves had been at work, putting the dumbbells away. Thanks, BARB.

I'll be more careful putting stuff back where I find it. I did 30 minutes with the weights this afternoon, after I finished Tap Class.

And I hate to even THINK about social anxiety. Anticipation always makes me hungry, prior to my arrival at the site of my unexpected adventures. Eating never fixes a thing, it just levels me out, and I regret it later. Plus, I usually find out that there was no need for my anxiety in the first place.

Oh yes, it's a good sore. I didn't exactly injure myself this time around. :D

I've done 31 minutes cardio thus far, today. I plan on doing more, but I'm also trying to get myself prepared for some unexpected adventures this evening. Most of it is mental preparation, really. I have this stupid social anxiety stuff. Argh. But it should be positive. ;)

I found lots of junk in corners and closets at our "gym" this weekend. It's now all nicely sorted and sitting in a humongous pile in our basement, waiting for the garage sale this Saturday. Man, I stretched, I squatted, I lifted, I lunged -- I had an all-around good workout and was totally worn out by Sunday evening. Oh, I also walked Molly both Saturday and Sunday between rain storms.

Don't count the days; make the days count.

I hope it's a "good" sore, VYRIEN. The good kind is a sign that your exercise is working. Be careful, though, and make sure you're warmed up and stretched.

Gotta leave for Tap class. See you later.

So, today I've done 20 minutes of cardio (10 minutes running in place, and 10 doing the Wii Fit Advanced Step), and approximately 8 minutes of strength training.
I want to add more, but I'm still working on what. :D

There were 5 of us in a Pilates Equipment class this morning. The ballet dancer chick thought we all looked peaked.

So she decided to get our blood flowing. OMG, she had us leaping all over the place, playing follow the leader. I remember saying, "I hate this stuff". To no avail. She kept it up for about 20 minutes before we went to the equipment.

She didn't stop there. We "upped" our game there, too. I was a miserable, sweaty, quivering mess, gasping for air.

I didn't feel better about it until I checked my heart rate monitor. In a little over an hour, I had burned 640 calories! I don't even burn that much in an hour of ciruit training with a personal trainer (usually about 400-500, which is good). This same pilates class has been ranging between 250 & 350.

I did hate it, but...

I'm glad your flare-ups are less problematic, VYRIEN. Consistent exercise fixes a lot of aches and pains, for sure. You've got a good streak going, so who knows where it may take you?

I'll have to think about the ankles.

I've started using "edit" a lot, especially since it's either that or I post consecutively. And I just don't like feeling that self-centered. :D

I did 36 minutes cardio using the Wii Fit and these facilities. I love that it always seems to be available! It's a miracle! :D I did 6 minutes on Basic Step, and 30 minutes doing the Free Run (while catching up on last night's episodes of The Colbert Report and The Daily Show).
I did 7 minutes of mat Pilates. Keeping it low key because I'm going to start condensing my strength training to whole body EOD. So that I can stop stressing out about certain exercises I prefer that also work out muscles I just worked on the prior day. Heehee.

My little flare-ups have gotten much better since I've started working out consistently. It used to be that when I was having a "bad" day, I'd be practically immobile. Then, on better days, I had lost my momentum and just crashed. Of course, it's only been a few weeks (which seems miraculous in itself), but what a few weeks! I'm starting to dream that, if I found a way to transport myself, I might actually get to work again!

:D

Any tips for ankle strengthening? My knees are fine, but it's my ankles that get touchy!

Only if you just do that for Vyrien. I edit sometimes, too, and I wouldn't want you thinking up crazy things I might have written. Oh, wait, you wouldn't have to. I usually just go ahead and write them. emoticon

Wouldn't you just love to see the stuff VYRIEN edits out of her comments?
emoticon emoticon
We can have fun filling in the blanks ourselves, when we see the edit button has been activated. Even if she's only corrected a typo, we can dream.

My husband would flip out and start lecturing about financial restraint if I bought a Wii, which would ruin my enjoyment. I would also love to try the hula hoop again, to see if I've improved. I was never good at it.

I'm catching up on some things at home today, but I'll do some strength training while I'm here.

I go to another Tap class tonight at 6.

Glad to hear it. Thanks. Sorry to hear you also die privately. At least the facilities at our new gym are quite private.

I'd like to get a Wii fit, especially now that I know it has hula hoops, but we don't have the money right now. I keep hoping someone will be selling one at a garage sale real cheap, but so far no luck.

It wasn't TMI for me. I had commented that either you spend similar times dying privately like I do, or you were deep cleaning the place, but I guess I edited it out when I put in my workouts.

The hula hoops were digital, as I was playing with the Wii Fit. I tried an actual hula hoop a few months ago and... well, no success. ;) Maybe the digital practice will help makes use of the gym's actual ones. Heehee.

"curled up with the ballet dancer" he he

I'm sorry if I gave you TMI yesterday. I was in a bad mood thanks to my IBS. Much better today.

I took off work early yesterday to enjoy the beautiful 75 degree sunshine in our gym. I walked home and then walked Molly. What a lovely afternoon!

I haven't tried a hula hoop in ages. I'll have to look around this huge gym and see if I can find one. That was soooo much fun when I was young and flexible. I wonder if I can still make it work.

I made use of the hula hoops, though I'm still having some difficulty keeping them up. ;) Also a little step and the aerobics boxing class. 20 minutes of cardio.
LOL
Ah, and ran a set of 20 reps of bridges.

Hey, BARB,

Did you see those cut flowers in the women's lounge? emoticon

I saw them when I curled up in one of those comfy chairs after pilates with the ballet dancer.

It was just me, curled up in the chair. I didn't curl up with the dancer.

That's it for me. I had to take my car to the muffler man and get new "o" rings. I know, that's kind of personal information.

Way to go, on the extra push, VYRIEN!

So far, I've completed 3 sets of 6 reps alternating modified push-ups with side planks, 3 sets of ~ 13 reps forward lunges, 1 set of 20 reps lying adduction and abduction each, 1 set of 20 reps triceps extensions and press each, 1 set of 15 on shoulder press.

I was going to do more, but...

OK, I'm going to get off my butt and at least get my minimum of 15 minutes of cardio in. I need the wake-up anyway.

Woe is me! I spent most of my time yesterday in the the gym's restroom. Luckily, it is a fancy, dancy facility with lots of privacy and the cutest little soap dispenser. I cannot, however, include my time spent there on the fitness tracker. Darn it! I do have to admit that I enjoyed the napping area quite a bit.

I got stuck in that Pontius Pilates class and it was the longest half hour of my life. I'm not even putting it on my tracker.

I like the Pilates class that the red-headed ballet dancer teaches. We should all take that one together.

Tuesdays are the hardest days for me.
4/21---30 min--elliptical @ 12:30pm
4/21---45 min--circuit training @ 1pm
4/21---60 min--Tap with Mr B @2pm

The eye candy at the front desk reminded me that I didn't record anything for yesterday. He also told me that I had won a health drink.

Check out the chalkboard on the easel near the front door to see who wins each day. It's a handwritten sign that will say "Someone has bought a health drink for (name of winner).

So, here's yesterday.

I love it when my cat takes over my lap!

The gym came to my office yesterday so I could do strength training while waiting for some reports to run. I did calf raises, wall pushups, seated leg raises, standing abductions, and squats. I love this gym!

My son and I also walked Molly for an hour. It was really, really windy in the gym! Someone needed to close the windows. Whew!

Wow! Just saw this.

I wish I could afford (and transport myself) to those classes! I'd love to learn some form of dance, and get professional instruction with my Pilates (umm..which I haven't done in forever, anyway).

4/21 Abs and Back Day (with the exception of some lying abductions for a different group's challenge). Approximately 12 minutes.
I hope to add some cardio in a few, but a cat has taken over my lap at the moment and I didn't want to miss my opportunity to post while I remembered. ;)

I'm over my bronchitis, but I'm still coughing up junk. Some BAD germs this year. I hope yours isn't really back, but it could be, since you're probably in a weakened state from the previous bout and from the fatigue of getting ready for exams.

I'm glad you're here. Doing SOMETHING every day isn't always easy, but it helps, if we can do it often enough to make it a habit.

Weekends are not on autopilot for me like weekdays are. I have 3 tap classes, 3 hrs of dance team practice, plus a pilates equipment session and a circuit training session with a trainer, all spread out throughout the week, but at specific times.

Having that much exercise scheduled helps me be consistent with it. If I have an appointment, I have to show up. I'm retired, so I have the time, and I love the dancing. I do strength training at home, on a more random basis.

Today I didn't do a lot, but it adds up.
4/18--15-min Spark People Abs Workout Video (I really like this one. The 10-min Boot Camp videos are good, too.)
4/18--30 min walk
4/18---60 min light housekeeping

Before I started taking dance classes, 6 years ago, I usually lied to my doctor when he would ask if I had been doing 30 minutes of exercise 3 times a week. I was NEVER an exercise person. But, I finally found an exercise that I enjoy. I do other stuff now, just to keep me strong for dancing.

My troubles usually arise with FOOD issues.
