When I actually decided to make a serious effort with Sparkpeople and actually started exercising as well - I dropped 24 lbs in about 3 weeks (start weight was about 370, now down to 343). I'm doing other things as well, such as Tae Bo, but a majority of the cardio I have been doing has been walking.

My goal that I set on my sparkpage was to be down to 330 before my daughter's 9th birthday, which is June 6th. I may not make it, but going by the amounts of loss I've had each week, it's gonna be close.

Life is the future, not the past.

Ive been shooting for 1.5 to 4 miles a day. I was at 399 two weeks ago and now down to 382. Man I dont know how I ever got this big! I have a friend at work who lost 100lbs in 4 nonths by walking everyday.
I feel great! Even at age 51!

Right now, the wife and I walk about 2-3 miles at a 15 minute a mile pace. Considering I am still around the 340 range, I don't think that's doing too bad. On days she walks alone, my wife manages to hit about closer to the 12 minute mile pace.

My goals is to hopefully be able to walk around Lake Mitchell by the end of summer 09 (about 9 miles).

Royblynwin, I'm with you...I can't seem to find a decent pedometer. I've been through at least a dozen and all of them were lousy. Most were inaccurate. The same mile and pace would register anything from 220 to 4500. Or the "reset" button would be located where it could be easily pressed....grrrr. And, of course, the belt clip would eventually break or work itself off the belt and come crashing down on the sidewalk. We can put a man on the moon, but we can't design a decent pedometer.

Nothing tastes as good as THIN feels.

Thanks for the info. I issued a get fit challenge. I have 18 people who have joined in. We will be on it for 6 weeks. Everyone seems very excited. I have directed them to check out sparkpeople. I love it.

I have an Omron HJ 303. I LOVE IT! no directional requirements, kept losing all others with belt clip, and the frustrations with incorrect counts was driving me nuts. I keep it in my bra sideways with the safety clip, just in case as i have lost many. a bit spendy $40 but well worth it, would buy it again. You can buy it from amazon for much cheaper, but I didnt want to wait. I hope thhis helps.

I haven't yet done my treadmill today but will do at least 30 minutes, as that is what I am committed to do every day as a minimum. It's harder when I do it in the afternoon. Morning is best for me.

For Roblynwin, I have an Omron aerobic pedometer and I like it very much. It's a hip pedometer that clips securely onto my waistband. It records steps, "moderate" steps, miles, and calories. It also has a clock to tell you the time. It was $25 at REI, color black. They also have a similar one (white) for $20 with fewer features, probably just as good. I bought it at our local store but you can order it online.

Hello, I am loving this pedometer, I did some extra walking after work and I logged 17,175 steps for 8.13 miles. With the pedometer I keep finding ways to walk and bring my numbers up. Thank you to this team and your motivation.

I recieved my pedometer yesterday. It was very easy to set up. I walked 2.55 miles and 5400 steps.

I did my 2 mile outdoor walk a few minutes ago. I am in the market for a new pedometer also. Think I'll check at our local sports store ( one just opened) . They have a couple at CVS but pretty costly, and some shown on Walmart.com, but you have to order it.

I want to see it before i buy it.

Here is my weekly Miles walk post:
Sunday: off
Monday: 2 trips around my complex= 3.06 miles takes 1 hr.
Tuesday: off
Wednesday: 3.06 miles
Thursday: only 1.53 1 trip side tracked by a lost dog.
Friday: 3.06 miles
Saturday: Haven't gone yet but I am planing on another 3.06 miles

Just 40 minutes walking today. But I also did my Pilates dvd and cleaned the house.

I am at goal and maintaining. Thanks to my friends on SparkPeople and in the real world who motivate me every day.

My healthy BMI weight range is a generous 65kg to 55kg. My Spark goal is 60kg.
