My Walking Goal is to Walk 5 Miles a Day (although that has not happened Yet every day for more than 2 days in a row it's a starting place).

The Most I've walked in one day since I started back to Spark People is 7.2 miles and that was one crazy day of snow!!! I was doing errands for folks who were shut in & had a blast helping others and walking emoticon

I challenge myself yesterday and my longest walk is 4 miles. Hopefully this week I can add another but that is in one day, usually it's 3 miles a day at least 4 days a week.

I am increasing my walks from about 40 minutes per day to 60, which is on average 3.52 miles for me.

My longest walk was a little over 4 miles at one time (I did go out again later that day and add another mile or so). Unfortunately, my dog, who walks with me, was struggling the last mile - can't believe I tired her out! So now I go no more than 3 miles at one time, and just try to get in 2 walks a day. Walked 5 miles yesterday - 3.5 miles and then 1.5 miles later. Wish I could walk faster, but can't seem to push doggie to go any faster, and since she needs the exercise too, it doesn't seem fair to leave her at home and go walking by myself.

I read in a weekly magazine this week, if you walk during TV commercials on the spot it will give you more walking in a day. If you watch an hour program, you will probably get a 20-30min. walk in. It had a diet to go with it but I think we are all doing our own thing.

My longest has been about 6.5 miles, and it was accidental. My hubby found info about a local hike which was supposed to be a 3 mile loop over the top of a short mountain here. It was a really tough trail, lots of loose rock, etc. We kept walking and walking and walking...and then discovered that it was NOT a loop! It got dark fast, and we ended up walking down the mountain with little flashlights. We got back to our car at 11:00 pm. My husband kept saying what a trooper I was, but gee, what are the options? Spend the night in the woods? I did achieve a "first" that day - - peeing in the woods in pitch darkness! Not recommended!!! emoticon

I once walked 20 miles for a charity event when I was a teenager. That was a in a different lifetime. :-) Twenty years ago I met a personal challenge of walking 8 miles around a lake. But since that time, the longest I've walked is a four-mile trail near my house. Maybe I need to set a goal of walking around that lake again.

The longest walk I ever did was 25.5 miles. I was working on a challenge, so I trained doing 2 different 15 mile walks. I don't go that far in one day anymore. We walk a minimum of 1 1/2 miles every day, and then if the weather is nice I'll do an extra 3 mile walk. I can hardly wait for it to stop snowing and warm up!

Well, the longest I have gone ever was 26.2 miles one day and 13.1 the next for the AVON 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer this past June. Since then I have taken a lot of time off. I made it to the gym this morning for the first time in forever, and walked/jogged 4 miles. I am signed up for a timed marathon with my mom and sister in Feb, and will most likely be walking most of it. I'm just hoping to make to from 4 miles to the full distance by then.

I was up to a consistent 5 mile walk daily. I've walked as many as 11 in one day [2 separate times in the day]; however, I hadn't consistently walked in 2 months, so I decided to go back to baby steps. Now I'm back up to 4 miles [5xweekly] and I'm sure LOVING the endorphins released when I take longer walks.

Good morning all. Well I almost talked myself into not getting up this morning to walk. Almost. What a slippery slope that one is. (I did something everyday last week, I can take a break) And then again tomorrow and the next day. So before the the thought took hold I jumped out of bed and got my gear on. I always have everythink I need in one spot. Did 135min and walked 3.43 miles. I feel good about getting over that ever present hurddle. (those kind of thoughts just pop-up, trying to block our best efforts). I hope all of you do that one things that gets you closer to your goals. Weather in business, health or relationships. Each of these areas in our lives needs a map in which to steer us to a better place.

I'm grabbing minutes on the treadmill every day now just to burn off this fat. Walked 12.7 miles this week in what turned out to be (7) walks averaging (by accident) 30 minutes each. Watching something on TV the whole time. Burning off about 2 pounds a week. When I get back down around 150, I'll re-think it. For now, feels good.

"How Far Can You Go?" Intriguing question. Longest I ever went on foot in 1 day was 26.2 miles plus a little before and after. But that was a long time ago. Longest I've done recently was 5.3 miles, but I felt sore for almost a week. Now I'm re-beginning with 2-3 miles and feeling fine.
My real ambition this year? Not more distance, although that'll be nice, too. Just more consistency: 30-75 minutes/day, 5 days a week, every week. If I do that, I'll feel fantastic.

I just started walking after a very long break. I used to be very fit and has become fat because of sedentary life style. I want to lost 17 kg by end of this year. I just walked 1.5 miles in 30 minutes today.

I can't walk very far yet but working on it little by little.
So far about a mile is all I can do. I have arthritis in my left knee and had right knee replaced. also bone one bone in left knee. Hope that losing the weight will help with the pain in my knee.
I use to walk 4 miles and think nothing of it. Thats what happens when you get older and fatter.
I have lost 30 lbs. so far with about 60 more or so to go.
I love walkng!!!

I live in the middle of my cul de sac and when I do street laps, it is literally up hill both ways. I live at the top.

I have been braving the cold and walked 3 miles each day this week. This is only the second time since Aug. that I have hit 15 miles in a week.

I used to walk 12 miles every day but due to problems with my feet, I had to cut that way back. Now, I'm happy to say that I am back up to 5-7 miles daily!

For May I averaged about 7.5 miles per day. For June I'd like to bump it up to at least 8 miles per day.

I challenged a walk to my brothers home just to see how far it was and if I can accomplish it, to my surprise it was 12+ miles there and back. I now know that I can do this walk once a week along with my 5 mile walks every day for the rest of the week.
Now if the weather can be kind I should be able to add more mile's to my walks.
