How's everyone doing? I've been doing the videos & challenges everyday. Except today--I focused on TO-DO list items (many of which required computer work) rather than find active stuff to do. Though my hubby just downloaded some Zumba videos, so we spent 20 minutes doing those & worked up a sweat & had fun. I guess that could count towards today's challenge.
I'm doing the Boot Camp, too. My ball is a size small. I got it years ago, and I had to special order it. My University bookstore had a big display of fitness equipment, and they only had the large-size balance ball - which is for people over 6' tall!
I did get a smaller ball yesterday...and it was *much* better for me. Oh wow I would have been in trouble trying to do yesterday's video on that huge ball (that last stretch, lol).
I don't know about kidsized balls...I would guess searching online would be your best bet. I know I didn't see any in Target...For my little son, 5, who likes to exercise with me...I bought him a jumbo ball (they sell at Target for 2.50) and it is the perfect size for him. :o)
Mine is one that is made for women, so is smaller. It's still probably slightly too big, but not too bad for me. I think I got it at Target about 18 months ago. I remember on the box it listed the size person (height-wise) that it's appropriate for & it was for women as short as 5'. I'm actually only 4'10.5", but that was the closest I found. I wonder if they make kid-sized stability balls?
This is the first time I've used it in a long time. I was considering deflating it b/c it was taking up room, so it's nice to finally be using it again.
I think it does matter that the ball is too big -- you don't want to hurt yourself from being in a bad posture or form during an exercise. But I'm not positive -- you should ask this on the bootcamp boards (check first to make sure someone else didn't already ask about that & get an answer).
about these stability balls...what size do you all use? I bought one and it seems too big (its a medium) because I can't sit on top of it and get my legs to be at a right angle (at the knees)..does it matter?
Another day down. Did the video, cardio & bonus challenge. I am a little sore, mostly in my lower back. I think I might have stretched it a bit too much when I was lying on my back on the stability ball. Guess I didn't "engage my abs" enough.
The next two days will be easy for the cardio portion since I have 60 min dance classes on both days. And tomorrow's bonus challenge is just eating veggies, something I do & like anyways.
So far, so good. I usually go for an hour walk around a park on Mondays, but my walking partner is sick, so I stayed home. Did 37 minutes on the treadmill instead. Not as long, but I went at a slightly faster pace than I would normally do at the park, so I guess it events out.
I had a similar reaction. I was thinking I don't have enough time to commit to the bootcamp every day. I usually only exercise 4 days a week when I have a dance class or walking date. I thought that sounded kinda lazy, too. And I've been at a plateau lately that I want to break out of. So I committed.
I tried to get my hubby to join in, but he didn't want to (he might if he sees me doing it though).
We can check in with each other here and give each other encouragement (and extra accountability -- I can always use more of that. I am much better when someone is nagging me )
