This is my first post on a message board, hope I am doing it right!

Short term goal: stretch and do enough yoga and light activity to heal (or at least stop the pain) of my slipped disc.

Medium term goal: To work out every day, for 3 months, even if it is only yoga, so long as I am moving and building a new habit

Long term goal: to look super, sexy hot in a bikini, and strong enough to manoeuvre my motorbike on the gravel driveway without my husbands help!

Long Term Goal: Have large, cut muscles for the first time in my life.

Super long term goal: To continue this same active lifestyle well into my golden years!

At the end of December, I could barely do one pullup (using the IronGym handles), even if I jumped to get the momentum started.

Yesterday I did FOURTEEN ... still a little hop to start the first one, and going fast rather than slow, but in reasonable form nonetheless. And, another half hour into my strength training session, I was able to do a second set of twelve, and a third set of ten towards the end of the hour.

Woo Hoo!

My goal for the year: to regularly incorporate three sets of twenty with my normal strength training sessions, all done good form, no momentum needed, and done at a moderate pace.

At the beginning of my weight training adventure, I gained weight and was skeptical about the advantages of training. I gained up to 151 lbs at 5'8".
Success - After 3 weeks, I'm down to 145 and feel that wonderful soreness after a good workout. I'm hooked.
I love to pump it up. I see good things in my future. emoticon

Short term goal met! Tomorrow I'll finish up my last visit to physical therapy and will see the doctor for I hope the last time. I've been to the gym twice this week and worked chest, triceps, back, biceps and abs. I am sore all over but I love that feeling!

Just wanted to update:
My short-term goal went well--I got down to 122.8 (at 5'5"). Now I'm maintaining while I'm doing the Maximum Strength program (holding steady at 124, even though I've upped my calories to 2000/day). I hope to stay between 123-126 for the next 14 weeks and retest my strength, hopefully making some gains.

Anyone else with an update to the goals you posted earlier?

Short term goal: Fit back into my "fat" jeans by the end of this month (SO do-able)

Medium goal: Lose the rest of the weight I put on during the last year while battling medical issues. Oh yeah, and quit blaming everything on medical issues!

Long term goal: Put the muscle back on that I lost and maintain.

Don't know about the rest of y'all, but I feel the most sexy right after I work out...what a rush!

my original goal was to just look good with a shirt off. I lifted weights for a few years and I gained some muscle but refused to diet.it took an insult from a friend to get me to diet down. I went from 240lbs to 180lbs. after seeing my new body i felt skinny. not exactly the goal i wanted. so i began bodybuilding. now I use both diet and weight lifting to sculpt my body as I progress.

my current goal is to reach 255-260lbs before my diet in april. once i diet down Ill be somewhere around 215lbs.

my ultimate goal would be to put on another 50lbs of muscle.

I go to the doctor tomorrow morning and I hope I can talk him into letting me go back to full duty at work and to also let me go back to working out, at least a little! Wish me luck!

My short term goal is to get my back healthy again and soon!

Long term goal is to be rid of the excess weight and to get more definition in my arms, legs, back and abs; actually all over! Also, to get my body fat percentage a bit lower and to run a 5k this August.

Long, long term would be to study to become a personal trainer. I'll retire in 2013 and will need something to keep me busy!

Short term action goals:

Do 30 mins exercise every day (usually on exercise bike, with a gradually increasing intensity level each week).

Progress so far- started off unable to do more than a few mins at a time, worked up to 30 mins a day at level 1 resistance, average distance 5 virtual miles, have stuck with it 5 months and now at 30 mins (18 at level 1 and 12 at level 2) and covering 8 or 9 miles. Physio practically danced for joy when I told him and when he saw the improvement in leg strength :o)

Next goal is in addition to this to do a short, light weights workout every day. Normally it is not advisable to do the same muscles every day, but these are for rehabilitation and can be done every day.

Food: To keep calorie intake between 1500-1800 per day. I am doing ok on this, and have been consistent logging my intake every day for several weeks.

Long term goals:

Build up enough strength to do chinups again (getting lighter helps)

Lose 16 to 42lbs (16lbs would take me down to the very top of the healthy range for my height, 42lbs would take me back to my preferred weight) I have lost about 10lbs so far :o)

Equal or beat my previous personal best 1000m time on the rower at the gym (I row some days instead of biking, and will increase this as my arms adjust to it)

Increase the "mileage" I cover on the bike to 10 miles. Increase the resistance further.

Short term: work on fat loss for the next week and a half. Rest week on maintenance calories, then begin Maximum Strength on Dec 31.

Long term: Complete the Maximum Strength program, increasing my 1RM in all the exercises.

Successes: Had a great workout this morning! I reached my goal of 10 chinups about a month or so ago, but this morning, did 10, 7, 6 with only a minute rest between. Also deadlifts at 135# (3 sets of 10).
