I've got an iPhone 4 and I experience that won't hold still thing using Safari, too. However, it has happened at other sites when I try to type in something so I think the problem is Safari, not SparkPeople.

Something I've noticed is if I'm on the iPhone, using Safari, (as I noted earlier, I'm on iPhone 4s with 5.0.1 software, maybe the 5.0.0 as the last few attempts to sync & update have crashed and died due to lack of space on my PC.)...

...but when I am in that section of SparkPeople where we add an appointment (you know, so we won't miss out on the one whole SparkPoint that we can probably do without??), using Safari, sometimes the page just starts jerking back and forth, just will NOT stay on a line long enough for me to type in event name, comments, the location of the appointment etc. It's really weird. I've tried rebooting my phone, and it does it whether I'm connected to WiFi or 3G.

Along that lines, sometimes when I'm clicking on the "Get SparkPoints" button (like on Daily Blogs etc), it just wont' go - and evidently it's looking for a new page, since it wants to open a new page. So the "cure" seems to be to back out of it, and then close some of the extra "pages" (since iPhone Safari browser seems to have an upper limit of 8 pages open. It appears to re-use some of the pages to open a new page, but at some point even those pages will have to be closed so that it can open a new page.).

But anyway it seems to be worse in the Add Appointment page even if I do have the other pages closed...

Will have to get back here with my phone so I can watch it and report a bit more exactly every other little detail that might help debug the program...

Thanks!

Julia

AZCLAIRE - I had the same thing but I think I figured out what to do. I have the iPhone 4S using 5.0 or maybe 5.0.1 OS, and on Safari, it is weird sometimes searching for foods. What I've discovered is that something like your "cream cheese" example, it goes off to search and I see this kind of blank grey area... with .... nothing....

So if I just tap inside the grey area, suddenly I get all these search results on a line by line and I can roll it up or down. It's um rather different... but then once I click on an item and look at the nutritional info and decide whether or not to keep it or go on to a different selection, then... I forget (my phone is upstairs recharging, which is where I *should* be. heh.).

But anyway just look for that grey empty looking box and just tap on it, and the stuff should pop up. (too bad I can't easily upload a screen shot from my iPhone directdly here without having to go save it on my PC hard drive after emailing it to myself as an attachment, etc. instead of just sending it on over to SP the way I would in TwitPic or Facebook. (that's one of my fantasy wishes for SP's iPhone app!!).

I have a slightly different topic though, so I'll just start it as a new message.

I'm on 5.0.1, too, although when I started this thread I was 5.0. Just tried it again and got the same result. Just want to make sure we followed thee same steps: I query "cream cheese" and "cream cheese" and "cream cheese, low fat" both appear while I'm typing. When I click on one of them the system begins its search then displays no results.

I've shut the phone down several times to reset everything...

What version of the operating system are you on? When I searched for cream cheese and I was able to find a number of different options on my iPhone and iPad. I'm on 5.0.1 It's under Settings - General - About - Version (just as an FYI).

This isn't about the iPhone app, but since it's about the iPhone, I figured this was the place to talk about it.

Using the iPhone web browser Safari, when I SEARCH for a food in Nutrition Tracker, it never finds what I"m looking for even when I know for sure that the entry exists. For example: I SEARCHed for "cream cheese". The submenu pops up labeled "Popular searches" and lists "Cream Cheese" and "cream cheese, fat free". Select either one or click the SEARCH button and no results are found (even when I click the radial button "search foods shared by other members".

SEARCHing from my desk top finds the correct results. Any one else having this problem?
