Well, I don't need to carb don't yet as I don't eat much to start with and it is all protein.
Can't have lettuce yet or any veggie-except in low sodium V8 juice form. Can't have fruit yet either.

I can't stick with any program but keep trying anyway. i think i may get back to calorie counting and keepitn the carbs to low and healthy.
we'll see. Today was not a god sart but i am going to get on my Gazelle right now and hope to work off more than just frustratiuon.

Have a great night!

Tammy;
It's been over a year since we've heard from you and your success over bread and other like starches.

One new idea, in this last year, was to use lettuce leaves as a snacking base.

The last time you wrote you mentioned your evening snack was 3 spoons of hummus. No bread. No crackers. Way to go. But think about leafy vegs as your spreadable base or role-up.

On note where I failed...no jellies or preserves. YUCK!!!!

Well JVANAM I have made it through a sucessful week with less than half the bread that i usually eat. All last week (actually Mon-Fri) i wrote down everything i ate the amount and the time and i realized that i did fairly well with the bread. I ate eggs for breakfast w/o bread, turkey burger w/veggies at lunch without the bread. my snack was cashews or banana or different days. I had my hot tea with sugar substitute(i have been doing this for about a year)
and all other drinks were water during the day and when i came home from work crystal lite.And late evenins (8pm -9pm) snack about 3 spoons of hummus no bread or crackers.
I really find myself wanting bread, so i have decreased it not sure if i can get rid of it-lol.
But i have to figure out the the equalvalent of things like crackers, tortillas (tacos for dinner tonite),noodles,pasta--I gues i should justgo by the serving size. Thank my friends.

Tammy;
An additional positive practice to add to Frannie's post is to identify when, where, & why you are having a date with that Pill-of-a DoughBoy.

Start by listing on note paper, in a journal, in your PDA, or even here in Spark-Journal\SparkGoals\ or for those less couragious than I HERE in a CDNY posting.

The sole caviet is if you post your reasons & frequency of Downin' the Dough...you gotta' be ready for some harsh responce. And I am talking 'bout me.

I try to be encourageing, but as the rest of the tribe will agree with, I'm ruthless.

As far as immediate actions are concerned drop one type of bread product. The higher the Kcal the better. I.E. a contemporary bagel.

Today's bagels are twice (and comming soon to a Brugger's near you three times) the Nutritive size of what the RDA recognizes as a single serving. The RDA bases it's bagel size on the bagel from pre-1960. About the size of one Thomas' or Arnold's Mini-Bagels.

If you place a bagel in the center of your palm and can not see the pads of your hand the bagel is too large.

hi tammy,
oooh i love all those carbs, too, but they are not so healthy in the quantities that i like.
when i was using a low carb plan i learned lots of tricks. one that was great was to use lettuce leaves as wraps for fillings like meat, tacos, eggs, etc.
one thing is to realise what 1 carb serving looks like and it isn't big, so half a bagel, half cup of rice, 1 cup of pasta. when you measure you can keep that stuff more in control and stay within calorie range while still getting all your protein and veggies in.
peas abd beans are starchy but,using portion control again, you can have them fit into the plan.
then there's the plain old fashioned "just say no!" i use yogurt and berries instead of cereal or toast for bfast and have a veggie egg white omelet when we go out for bfast isntead of a bagel or muffin.
there is info on sparkpeople but here's a good one to start you off:

it's a struggle i know but we can do it. good luck!

blessings, fran

I am slowly trying to to make changes in my eating patterns (very difficult to do).I have notice that i eat lots and lots of bread ie:white bread, wheat bread, bagels (a variety of flavors), english muffins. I also enjoy ritz crackers,peanut butter crackers, cheese crackers. My question is what are some alternate food to eat. I enjoy peas and beans but are they consider starch products.
