Hopefully you have a recent x-ray of your back - if not, please ask for one. THEN AFTER they have the results, ask your Dr to refer you to a Specialist in this field. After that, discuss with that Specialist whether it would be appropriate for you to be referred to Physiotherapy. If not, then it is possible that you can be shown how to do things differently - SAFELY! An Occupational Therapist could help you there, BUT get the Specialist input first!
Your Dr is quite right to recommend how she did. I would think that Karate would be the LAST thing you would be needing to do! (note I didn't say "want"??? )
Yes I have a family doctor I work with, but she doesn't recommend going back into the excersize I was doing, but that's all they say. And since I live in Canada, our doctor visits are covered by OHIP (medical coverage we have here)
Agreed. CWPRAISIN is absolutely right that your first step would be talking to your doctor. Then I suggest that you check out the Chair Exercise team. Sparklers of all activity levels are on that team and get great advice and resources.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
I have a question if ya'll don't mind, I have back problems from 1. a birth defect and 2. a spinal injury from work and 3. spinal injury from karate. and sometimes my legs don't work so well, what excersize would be good for someone like me?
