The only way I can stay motivated during exercise is to have a "waking meditation".
All meditations are supposed to keep you awake,but sometimes,they knock me right out so I can sleep at night. That one is called "Follow the Breath" Slowly inhale through your nostrils and breath completely out through your mouth, but do it slowly too. I count to ten on the inhale breath coming in,hold it, and ten on the breath going out.
You can go in intervals of say; five for the breath in and out. I usually hold my breath for five seconds or so.
After just five minutes of this, I'm ripe to sleep.

I also take pain pills and then I make myself do it. My orthopaedist told me not to mow on a riding mower (yard is too big for a push mower). I have no one else to mow so I do it. My garage needs cleaning and I have to do it; same for the basement. The house goes without saying. We all have to do these things so I thank God for the pills but I am also very careful with them since I know that my body will build up a tolerance to them and then when I desperately need them they won't work (I used to work for my orthopaedist-I was his office manager). emoticon

I thank God for what I am able to do, and I do a lot of stretching and really trying to get rid of the last 20 pounds!!!!

I take pain pills which hide the pain, and then I do as much as I can. If I followed the advice given by doctors "Don't do it if it hurts", I wouldn't even sleep at night. I am very lucky that surgeries corrected a lot of the disabling pain and that now pain pills work for me.
The more I accomplish the more motivated I am and the more I feel a sense of value to this world.

i start by believing that I will succeed . And see the end result of working hard , how much better I could feel..I picture myself pain free doing all the things I want to do...
I create a graph and i chart my progress to see where I am
I know my own ability and I take my time there is no rush
I make it part of my general routine and set aside time everyday for myself
I also listen to the wonderful ideas that you and others post here at sparks
And I create a journal to document my thoughts and my progress
I read motivational and postitive writings and have a list of affirmations .... emoticon

I am here because someone special in my life cares about me and I must be at my best for her ..
