Hair Care too!
(the below recipes are taken from the "Curly Girl" book)

Lavender Mist
lavender has amazing properties that cleanse your hair while reviving your curls*
Fill large pot with 1/2 gallon water. Cover & bring to a boil to rid of impurities. (I buy distilled for this anyway). Remove from heat, and add 5 drops of PURE lavender oil & replace lid. Let seep until cool, then pour into empty spritz bolltes.

Use it often~whenever you need a lift~to spruce those curls!!

okay here's some other good stuff for ya Mama's!

Natural Shampoo Solutions:

Baking Soda~reduces oily hair and cleans up product build up.
Mix 1/4 to 1/2 (more for longer hair) of baking soda with water and mix it with water to make a thick paste. Put the paste on wet hair and scrub into roots/focusing on the more greasy areas.
Scrub in and leave in for 5 minutes, then rinse.

Your hair will feel dry or cottony when its wet, but once dry it will be soft.

TIPS~If you mix baking soda and shampoo in your hand once a week it will not only remove all hair spray, styling gels, and other products, it will remove impurities from the water and lighten your hair.
Also, mix baking soda with hair conditioner in your hand and condition the ends of your hair it will give your hair more volume, body and health.

Rain Water~is the very best to shampoo with and then the most wonderful rinse you will ever use. Leaves your hair shiny and soft as baby hair. You will be thrilled. If your rain water is not perfectly clear when you collect it, let it settle and then carefully strain through a coffee filter.
*Do not collect the rain water in aluminum.

Sugar Shampoo~(good for dandruff-ridden scalp): honey and sugar shampoo! Make this by mixing approximately equal parts sugar and honey. Apply & massage using fingertips on the scalp. Remember the scalp is skin too and needs exfoliation!
The result: a well-polished scalp, and increased hair growth from the honey!
**Can also be done with conditioner & sugar!

Natural Homemade Hair Rinse
1/2 c ACV
1 qt of water
combine and pour onto scalp.
Massage in, and rinse! (the vinegar smell only lasts about 30 minutes!!) and you're left with shiny, bouncy beautiful hair!

BANANA CONDITIONER
1 very ripe, large banana
1 tablespoon heavy cream
1 tablespoon honey

To Make:
Mash the banana. Add the cream and honey and whisk together until smooth.
To Use:
1. Apply to dry hair from the roots to the ends, cover with a shower cap, and then wrap your head in a warm towel.
2. Allow mixture to remain on hair for as long as possible--up to an hour. Rinse thoroughly with warm water, then shampoo as usual.

*TIP~use baby food banana! I did this with a "real" banana and spent a good 30 minutes combing banana chunks outta the hair!

LUSTROUS HAIR CONDITIONER
2 ounces of aloe vera gel
1/2 teaspoon oil (avocado, jojoba, or even olive oil will work)
2 ounces organic apple cider vinegar
1 ounce powdered milk

To Make and Use:
Combine ingredients in a bowl and apply to clean, wet hair.
Allow formula to remain on hair for 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse well with warm water.

ALOE MIRACLE CONDITIONER
cup of aloe vera gel (available in health food stores)
of a lemon
3-5 drops essential oils of your choice

To Make:
Mix the aloe vera gel with the juice of half a lemon.
Add the essential oils.
To Use:
1. Apply to freshly shampooed hair.
2. Leave on for 3 to 5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.

STRAWBERRY CONDITIONER
8 fresh strawberries
1 tablespoon mayonnaise

To Make:
1. Mash ingredients thoroughly
To Use:
1. Massage into damp hair.
2. Cover with a shower cap and a warm towel.
3. Allow to stay on hair for at least 10 minutes, then shampoo as usual.
*I personally do not care for the mayonaise conditioners~I always crave a sandwich after smelling the mayo for hours afterwards!!
