Some of my keys are:

1.) Tracking my water and food intake
2.) Sharing what I'm doing - both on SP and with friends and family to keep me accountable.
3.) Not relying solely on the scale for the results. Changes in clothing sizes and energy level as well as blood sugar levels are definite indicators of success.
4.) Interacting with others on SP to encourage them and to seek encouragement when I need it.
5.) Seeking new and fun ways to get in Cardio and Strength Training.

"The principle is about competing against yourself. It's about self improvement, about being better than you were the day before." Steve Young

Drinking water is my first key. If I don't drink my water, I know that not tracking my food isn't far behind.

The second key for me is weighing daily. While losing weight, it is what taught me what worked and what didn't. When I saw the number going up, it also helped me to make adjustments immediately and not after a week or a month of bad choices. I know this doesn't work for everyone...you have to be able to cut the emotional ties to the number on the scale if it is to work well.

My third key has to do with exercise. My motto is "fake it 'til I make it". There are so many times when I don't want to exercise, but I make myself do it for at least 10-15 minutes. Most of the time, I end up going 20-30 minutes once I get going.

The final key for me has been calorie cycling. I explain this more on my SparkPage.

The most important thing that has helped me is to keep sharing on Spark. Support someone else and not only will you be helping someone else, it will keep your own motivation alive.

Goals - small, realistic, and time oriented.

Stick with positive people

Just do 10 minutes of some fitness activity daily
