Here's an experiment I did that works great for breakfast, snack or dessert:
Core an apple, but leave it whole--just try to dig out all the seeds and hard parts. It's okay of you go all the way through to the bottom.
Alternate filling the hole with old-fashioned oats, cinnamon (and other spices such as nutmeg, mace, etc. and salt). Top with the tiniest amount of butter, if desired.
Microwave on high until the apple softens to your liking (about 2 minutes for a small apple).
The oats will steam with the moisture of the apple and rise into a yummy tower!
