Thanks for the idea! I sauteed some cabbage last night and to my surprise, my boyfriend loved it! Next time I will definitely try adding beans. Thanks again!

I used to have a Sams membership but I was paying a fee to shop at a place I did not save money at. Some things were cheaper but not enough to make up for the things that were not. I can do better with coupons and looking for store sales.

Just out of curiosity, how much is a Costco or Sam's membership? We don't have Costco here too, and ... well, I have a lot of reasons I avoid Walmart (Sam's is owned by Walmart - you probably knew that :) But it seems more and more lately I've heard people talking about how much they love Sam's Club. I'm curious...

I wonder the same thing (spending too much) every time I go there. Everything is such a bargain, but perhaps you over consume stuff you wouldn't normally. Still, I am hooked : )

I had a membership to Costco, but DH and I were spending WAY too much $ on things we didn't really need and it ended up being cheaper for us to go to the grocery with coupons. besides, there aren't any Costco's close enough to us to make it worth it (after gas and spending too much on the actual items). I appreciate the suggestion.

Isn't it fun when you are playing around with ingredients and it turns out good. I love all the ingredients in this dish so I will check it out. If you do a lot of brown rice, check out the rice cooker at Costco. Rice comes out perfect, no worry and you can set a timer on it to be ready whenever you need it.

I made this a couple of nights ago, not following any recipe. I think it turned out REALLY good. I cooked in one pot brown rice (30 minutes for every 1 cup of uncooked rice). in a separate LARGE skillet, I sauteed red cabbage ( green would be fine too) in oil and balsamic vinegar and spices (mrs. dash and red pepper flakes at the very end). when the cabbage is done cooking, i add in a can of drained and rinsed great northern beans. It is DELICIOUS, and i think 1 1 cup serving is under 300 calories.
