Delayed onset pain - (pain occuring at night after exercising ) is annoying - but if you persist you will get through it - it took me 6weeks to get through that and if increase intensity too much or move differently to use different muscles I haven't used for a bit - I still get it for a few days - but I know I'll come through it so I just keep going!!

Fantastic.. this is amazing stuff.. i am going to get my mum starting to do some of these as she has had two hip operations and finds it really difficult to just get around, let alone exercising on her feet. I will take it over and we can do it together (i should do the exercises standing up but am not motivated to because of the pain i end up with at night time after doing anything on my legs.. maybe after a few weeks/months of doing these exercises i can move on to the standing up ones). Thanks heaps for all those wonderful links. You have done an amazing job and i look forward to reading more of what you have learnt..
I have been using Chair Exercises for 2 1/2 yrs now and lead the Chair Exercise eam - and I have come to respect the use of these exercises. Unfortunately they are not an accepted for of exercise in Australia - and this annoys me!! I haven't found similar DVDs available in Oz!! So many people think they are really slow exercises suitable for 90yr old grannies in Nursing Hoes - or like my Doctor - think they are related to lap dancing!! I lost 20kg doing just chair exercise - exercises from Stretches, through Strength, through Dancing and aerobic exercise to Chair Salsa and Yoga - all done in a chair - which means they are non impact on hips, knees and ankles!! It certainly does not mean they are easy - and some require a lot of co-ordination!! But they are fun, They are also emminantly suitable for people who are limited in mobility, who are physically injured in some way or have lived a very sedentary life - but no matter your problems - you need to MOVE!! Even doing 1 a day of these clips is better than nothing - and gradually your mobility, balance and flexibility will improve.
There are many exercise video clips on Sparkpeople.com for those who have a certain level of fitness and mobility. However there are few for people with limited mobility and fitness. Anne Burnell has gone a long way to help this by posting some Chair Exercise video clips that are suitable for the less fit and mobile. Anne has a large number of qualifications and huge experience working with handicapped and mobility limited people as well as Seniors in USA!! Details are on her site. She also produces a range of DVDs - in Chair Exercise. You can watch these freely and exercise along with her. Most are short and according to your personal capability you could do one or several together, For those with DVDs I encourage you to use these clips to add variety to your exercise routine.
