My favorite site to go on is Alchemy.com. I've purchased a large amount of jewelery from them already. My favorites are my bat earrings and my coffin choker.

I know your pain well. I love all the jewelery - I have a jewelery dresser!!!! But most of it is not Gothic - I have a few Goth pieces and want TONS more, like the whole catalog/store. U can never have 2 much jewelry, or shoes or clothes - U see my problem - LOL. If I was rich I sure wouldn't be long - LOL. I try to save up and get a piece as a reward for sticking to my plan - it is just taking to long - LOL!!!!

For those of you who like a more retro twist to your goth duds, may I suggest Bettie Page Clothing? http://www.bettiepageclothing.com . They go up to a 4XX Large size, the materials are stretchy, and let's face it-- nothing flatters extra curves better than a 1950's cut. I think the best piece of advice I ever got about clothing was, "no matter what your size, know your decade". Think about what your body shape is and what era that was fashionable in and dress accordingly.

I'm definitely a thrift store and Ebay vulture. Cheap things that can be altered into something new and original. I also make a lot of my own clothes (I went to college for fashion design), have been doing so since I was 14 or so since it was so impossible to find pretty gothic clothes in large sizes. Day to day I suppose I look more like a biker [tight black pants, tank top/t-shirt, Harley boots, leather jacket], but that came about because I worked in an office and had to 'tone down' if I wanted to keep my job. Hey, maybe if I go out and become a tattoo artist, I'll be able to look how I want. haha

I usually buy bits and pieces or clothing I like and put together my own outfits :) Sometimes I can find a good piece at Hot Topic, but usually get depressed when I go there because I see cool cloths that I can not fit.

I dont know how many members of this group are big like me, but if you have noticed that Hot Topic does not cater to Big women, try checking out Torrid or Dots. They carry a variety of styles but a goth that knows how to piece together outfits can find some great pieces at these stores and they carry up to size 26.

WRWW13, I just wanted to let you...and everyone else...know that I bought the skull and bones ice cube tray at Hot Topic 2 months ago for $6.99. (Just HAD to have it to match the goth/skater decor for my son's birthday party in May!) The tray is that pliable plastic/rubber stuff so a person just pushes on the bottom to release the cubes. {Gothic, frozen water...what better way to drink healthy?!}

I shop like the majority here, it seems, but I've been doing it ever since high school...almost 20 years ago. A great store to try buying clearance items from is the sister store of Hot Topic...Torrid. I consider my self a romantic goth, and they have some really beautiful plus size formal wear really cheap. I bought a "prom" dress...royal blue satin with black lace overlay that is strapless with lace-up bodice for $20..originally $100. I wear it, and many other of my formals, with a variety of black jackets and sweaters at least a couple times a week...even if I'm just going out grocery shopping. When I moved to this small city in Kansas many years ago, and would attend my son's outdoor sporting events or the county fair in my lovely skirts and dresses (which I wear every day), I had many strange looks...especially when I'd help out a little here and there, like crawling under a vehicle to retrieve a ball or tackling a grown sheep trying to escape a pen. The way I see it, everything can be washed somehow, or mended one way or another. (I sew many of my outfits, as well as altering things I buy/given to me.) Sorry for the rambling on. It's just so nice to get this out to people who understand...besides my husband and son. I RARELY have time to write/post anything, just like my unfinished profile, but I will post a photo very soon, at least. (The Nutrition menu and measuring my food...at home and eating out...takes up almost all my free time.)

JoRo, I got lucky I live a little 2 far Southeast and all we got was lots of 27 degree winds and a heavy frost because it didn't rain so everything could freeze. Not sure how we got so lucky with all the forecasts saying we were under winter weather advisories. I just knew we were in for it and I couldn't find my thermal bottoms - LOL. I know it is way cold up in your neck of the woods, so bundle up good and try 2 stay warm. Girl u know u have mad sewing skillz.

JoRo's web site is voxxandatreyuh.vpweb.com There are examples of her creative genius! The girl is seriously great. She also reinvents clothes. She is on our Vamp team and Got Goth team.

I am such a hoodie & jeans gal. I have tons of bits and pieces, but not enough style to put them together. =(

I buy from ebay, charity(thrift) shops, and selected basic items from the cheaper end of the high street/department stores.
One of my best fashion moneysaving tips for Gothic types is hit the sale racks in January, particularly towards the end of the month at the final final mark-down events: mainstream shops tend to stock up on all sorts of sparkly/shiny/velvetty/lacey black partywear for Christmas, and anything they've got left, they'll be discounting big stylee right now to get off their racks.... and a lot of mainstream "occasion wear" can make fantastic goth "everyday" wear - long satin skirts, black beaded mesh tops, frock or tuxedo style jackets, opera gloves, tiaras, beaded chokers, petticoat skirts are all the kind of things that show up in mainstream stores at Christmas time and retailers will be desperately trying to get shot of any stock they've got riiiiiight about now :-)
I've had some AMAZING finds over the years this way - last year for example I got a designer diffusion-line satin fishtail gown for £12 marked down from £200 - how'd you like that 94% (!) discount?
(Still hanve't worn it out anywhere yet, but at that price I'm happy to have it just to swish around the house feeling like a princess in!)

The job I had before this was in a luxury retirement community. Every day Id take out my Marilyn, my labre, and my brow ring before I went to work and put it back each night. Then one day, I ran in to one of the residents outside the apartments and she said " honey, I dont know why you dont leave all that "mess" in ( she was southern) we all think its just fine!" NOW YOU TELL ME!! I thought! People never stop surprising you!

Goth hairstyles? Whats yours? Any tips?
Right now mine is shoulder length, with lots of layers. Very 80's when I fix it. I've got a bleached streak in the back (at the nape of my neck) and my Kat Von De bangs are tipped.
I'm going to be letting it grow long tho, and thinking about increasing the bleach are in the back... You know how all the little skater kids used to shave the back of their heads? I'm thinking about bleaching the same area they shaved. But my bangs will stay the same. The problem is my dark hair tends to bleach to a redder color in the sun... so I guess I'll have to keep it dyed to keep it dark.

I got my dock martins brand new from a thrift shop, my leather jackets the same way. I find bodices and black stockings and wild underwear here too. I want a long black jacket with a split down the back for summer, seen one but it was too small...

Like Joro, I also go to the thrift store (Goodwill) and I hit the clearance racks at Walmart, JC Penney, Sears, Cato, Stage, Its Fashion to name a few. The problem I run into is that everything is made so small, tight and clingy - Just what I don't need -LOL! I have looked a lot on line but not really bought anything as I think I am too impatient to wait til it comes in - LOL

I make mine or buy something black on sale or at the salvation army (we call it the SA boutique!) and then give it a "spiritual renovation"- putting life back into it!! I also buy stuff and rejuvinate it then sell it! My fav skirt is a rejuv from the S.A. My fav shirt is a babydoll one that I got second hand from Courage My Love in Toronto, then brought it home and doctored it up!
