Thanks, I guess yesterday, doing two different cardio with sleep-trouble body made me almost not performing well. Today, planned to do some strength training so I'll do that first before do my jumping ;D

Lately, getting sleep-deprived. It's either I wake up too soon, sooner than my alarm or I don't sleep too well. It's easy for me to fall asleep (just lie down and close my eyes and in 5 min, lost connection to the world, hehe) but apparently, I'm also kind of light sleeper, easy to wake up from slight noise outside my bedroom, such as when someone open the door to the bathroom just outside my bedroom or the creaking noise of someone's moisquito netting door.

One strategy is to do weight first before cardio. This way you're still fresh and not tired out from the cardio. It's like doing the most effective exercise first. Might worth a try.

Did 12 sets of 35 spins. By the time I reach 10th set, I didn't want to continue but I managed to push myself to do 3 more, hence got the 12 sets, hehe.

Starting today, I joined the Spring Into Shape Bootcamp Workout Team so lots of SP video to try ;D

For warm up for my strength, jump 6 sets of 30 spins (I think more but I just count 5 spins per 1 set of deep inhale-exhale, hehe). Then proceed to do strength training. Ever since I started to do 6-days workout instead of just 4 days, I'm getting hungrier and hungrier and my sweet tooth is getting stronger!

No, the achilles doesn't hurt. It just feel a little tender after I do jumping. So I had to quit to protect it. If it hurts all the times, that would be serious as it takes a long time to heal. Normally when I walk, I don't feel anything. I hope Jordan is in the same situation that she can walk without noticing anything. If she can feel it, then do some icing 3-4 times a day to see if it would help. Your calf muscle is totally different. That is just muscle soreness. The discomfort will go away after some rest and you're as good as new. Tendon is a different story. It's much more serious if injured because there is little blood flow there that's why the long healing.

Looks like I need to be extra careful, too. I hope both of you have good rest, recovering from the archilles issue, from the way two of you described it, sounds really hurt! Last time, when my calves was throbbing and aching non-stop, I just stop doing anything for about a week and like Skater said, staring longingly at the rope and additional, cursed my eagerness to get 1K daily.

Last week, when I did my jumping according to plan, 8 sets of 25 spins in about 6 min, I felt not really do fat burning, more like just getting warm up to actual workout. So, this week, I wanted to reach at least 10 min if even aftet 10 sets, I still not quite had the workout sensation - faster heartbeat, get sweat running down my back even with the full-blast fan and feel the legs and arms muscle burning up. I think as long as not doing more than 15 mins jumping and I "listen" to my calves when they said, "we need to seriously stop not lazy stop", I should be doing fine. So, what do any of you think about this?

Bummer Jordan, I thought I was the only one with the problem. I've never had problem with the achilles before, so I was very surprised when I did the little research and found that it's very important to be careful as it can take a long time to heal if injured. If you can walk fine and don't notice anything when you walk, I would just give it a rest for now and do something else while looking at the rope, longingly, LOL. It maybe just too much too soon. They said to ice it, 3 or 4 times a day. I did for one time then I forgot. But like I said, I laid off from jumping and I can walk fine, so that works for me for now. Good thing I decided to share the story after Fathin asked me about it. Take a little break for now and if you can walk without noticing any discomfort with the achilles then count your blessing that you don't have anything major. You'll be back at it for sure. I'll let you know how the skating session goes. Regards.

Skater,
I'm having a similar problem with my RIGHT achilles tendon. I don't know what to do! I'm sooo bummed because I really enjoy jumping rope...Do you have any suggestions besides staying off of it? I have been able to jump since thursday night (when I did the 1100 jumps)

Wow, Jordan is doing 1100. Congrats.

Fathin, I took time off for about 9 days when I started jumping again. Even at 1K per day, after 4 days, I noticed that the left achilles tendon is a little sensitive. So I had to quit. I can walk with no problem, but I know that if I force the issue, it will become a problem. So for now, I'll have to go back to skating starting tomorrow. The skates will keep my ankles locked down and I don't think I'll have any problem with the achilles since there is very little movement in the skates. I admire your detailed plans. I had a plan to do 1K for 3 or 4 months, but unfortunately, I didn't stick to it and moved up to 1250 after about 6 weeks. Then the achilles started to bother me. I could be wrong, but I can't help thinking that I would have lasted much longer had I stuck to doing 1K. So I admire what you're doing with your plan because it's not only for the exercise. If you can stick to your exercise plan, it's a good bet that you can also stick to other plans in your life. That's a good thing. And in my case, I also made mistakes when I didn't stick to my other plan. There are parallels in life.

Thanks, currently trying to reach my 100 spins per set but do it slow & steady, don't want to get things similar like in the past, non-stop aching and sickness, haha.
How about you, SKATER? Feeling well enough to start back your jumping?

17 sets of 25 spins = 425.
The plan was 10 sets of 25 spins but I thought I was able to do more and reaching 10 sets made my heart started to beat faster but not much sweat, hehe.

Yesterday, jumped 8 sets of 25 spins, 5 minutes, I think I'm getting faster as the same amount of jumping on last Monday, I did 6 min, just 1 min difference ;D Really, really wanted to do more as that 5 min felt like enough to warm up only but I'm currently challenge myself to finally follow a plan more than a month, usually I changed my plan every two weeks or less, LOL.

haha i guess you could say that :)

Tonight I did 801 jumps in about 16 mins. Not sure of how many sets of jumps I did though. I just tried to jump as long as I could and then would take a 30 second rest in between sets :)

Well done, JDALT928!

So, if jumping rope is the microwave of cardio, what about the others? Pressure cooker - slowly simmering, not much action? hehe

Monday, I jump rope 8 sets of 25 spins in 6 min. I think I jumped much faster than Week 1 and Week 2 as I recalled there was one day I jumped in 6 min but with less jumping count. Awesome!

Today, I did 3 minutes of jumping rope (suppose to be warm up before strength training) and 38 minutes of strength training, including one new exercise, Leg Lower (in Spark, it called Lying Straight Leg Raises) that I got from a magazine book, published by Men's Fitness magazine (these guy magazines are most interesting when it's about exercises and those muscular bods are bonus, hehe).

Still consistent with my Bounce Back Plan, though I think I jumped only 7 sets of 20 spins instead of 8 sets that I aimed for, mainly because my jumping distracting/disturbing other people LOL. Reminder to myself: Don't jump in front of the TV, haha

Tried Pendulum yesterday (one of Core exercises I found in SparkPeople). I think I felt more at my thighs than my abs, maybe I did it too fast or my muscles already immune or (gasp!) I did it wrongly. I don't think I'll try it again and besides, lying down while watching my legs moving side-to-side made me a bit sleepy, haha.

Thanks, Skater, I'm trying to be good for myself and for our team, reaching more people with jumping!

Yes, I think there's more people do jumping, they probably don't add our team goal to their trackers.

Looks like no more cramps, so it's high probability for me to jump today, hehe.

No problem. You're doing great as a team leader and a blogger. I hope more people would track the number of jumps they're doing in the Team Goal. I'm sure there are more jumpers out there than they would admit.

Hey Everyone!

Sorry for posting few days late for our new monthly challenge - blame it to my 3-day monthly internal bleeding cramp sensational aka period cramp, haha.

I've a very good news today - did a free bone-testing while grocery shopping (it was Anlene team doing tests to us unsuspecting shoppers, haha) and I got great result. Probably because my body still young & healthy (hehe) but I think it's must be doing strength training help me a lot.

So, April Challenge 2011, it will all about strength training:
#1: Do at least 2 new strength exercise every week and tell us why the rest of us should do it!
#2: Do at least once sandwich exercise - combining jumping rope and strength exercise in one workout.

Good Luck and You Can Do It, Team!
