Firefly: I hear ya. For far too long, before I got married in '09, I too just threw my hair up in a ponytail. I do not wear much makeup and never have, but on Sundays I make sure I take the time for it. I know I feel better when I look better, but it's so hard when we have 3 of us trying to get out the door by the same time. I already get up at 5 to exercise and eat breakfast before I leave by 6:50. I don't think I can get up any earlier. I work 8-4:30 M-F and have a 45 min to 1 hour drive. But Don't Give Up! I'm not. We can do this together. Go Blue Team!!

I've found the stress level has decreased drastically around the house since I've started my workouts in the morning. I just still feel down about myself as far as not having clothes to wear or not doing my makeup. So I've started setting aside $5 for every week I work out at least 4 days. I'm working on two goals: getting my workouts in and revamping my frumpy wardrobe!!

You're right Lisa we should always absolutely best at our best.....I can't help my kids when I'm down in the dumps because I didn't take the time to give myself 15 to 30 mins a day just focusing on me....in the end they get so much more out of me when I'm happy they are happy

I'm guilty of not spending time on myself, too! It's so easy to get caught up in everything with the kids and the house. I was just thinking the same thing about not wearing makeup in...I don't even know how long! My sister is in town and staying with us and she simply amazes me! She's a stay at home mom of two boys but she seems to really have it all together. I asked her the other day if she wanted to go to Wal-Mart with me and she said she had to put on her makeup first. She gets up in the morning, gets ready (makeup included) and takes care of the boys and the house throughout the day. She's always complaining of never having time to herself but she takes time in the morning to make herself more than presentable. I envy her for that. I have been doing my workouts in the morning, but I think I need to get up about 10 minutes earlier so I can do my makeup! I hate being frumpy all day. Even worse, I hate being frumpy in my work clothes when I'm supposed to look nice! I just look...blah!

But don't give up! Keep pushing forward! Take care of YOU and I pledge to take care of ME!

Let me just reiterate what Tema said. We ALL understand the challenges of parenthood and wanting to give give give to our kids. Why wouldn't we??? They're so awesome and deserve it! But, you've got to remember the message you're sending your kids when you aren't taking care of yourself (and I say this for myself as well!).

I find as my kids get older (they're 8 & 10 now) I can come home from work and say - "I'm going to go down on the treadmill because I need to take care of me." and they get it. They'll even keep me company and play a game while I'm exercising now. It's still hard - but the more I show them that I'm worth it, the more they'll get the message that they are worth it too!

@Firefly....don't you dare give it....it's not an option...you can do this....that's what we're here for to push and encourage you to do it.....You absolutely must take some time to yourself.....even if it's just 30 mins a day...I know us as mothers automatically put the family first...but if we are down what truly can we offer them....I won't let you give up....even if you have to become my personal project....I know what it's like to want to give up as I'm sure a lot of us here does....but you just can't...please take some time for yourself

The meet went great in Austin...she came in a little lower than she would like but most of the kids she was diving against were older than her and had been diving longer. Yesterday we had a local meet and she did better so we can only go up!
I have to apologize for my lack of losing this week. My head has been somewhere else and I find myself starting to give up again. I HATE this lose the same 10 pounds over and over again. I had all these plans this year of it being about me and getting myself in a better place. Slowly the attention is being diverted to kids, husband, job, kids sports...ect.
I seriously can't remember the last time I wore makeup, had my hair in anything but a ponytail, or bought a shirt for myself.

I'm gonna have to weigh-in early because we're headed out of town this weekend and I'm not sure if I'll have internet access or not.

I'm having a really tough time. I'm doing everything right (for 3 straight weeks) and no weight is coming off. I've dealt with plateaus in the past but not during the first weeks back on a program. I'm frustrated, but not giving up! (I am wondering if I should get my thyroid checked though...)

Got my stuff put in!

About the DVD rental places, a lot of ours have shut down too. We only have one left in our small community. Redbox and Blockbuster kiosks are taking over. I hate it. I love going into the rental store. They know me by my phone number bc we go in there so often. I like being able to browse a larger selection of movies and I love the customer service!

MICHTOTMAN have you looked to see what the video rental stores have? most places here have workout videos they rent free of charge. I enjoy the workout videos and there's a Denise Austin dvd they have that I would like to try.

Being back on the move again (after WAY too long without much exercise) I'm starting slowly - so as not to lose motivation. That's what worked for me 5 years ago, so why mess with success???

I do cardio 3X/wk and strength 3X/wk. Cardio is walk/jog - starting the Couch to 5K program so I can run a 5K with my 10 year old daughter in the spring. Strength is just a program that I let Spark set up for me. I figure I'll do that for about a month then change programs. I use free weights and bands and a balance ball for those exercises.

I am very intrigued by the DVD workouts recommended on this site. I just wish my library carried them. (They do carry some - but it's not much selection!) I like to try things out before I buy - I HATE wasting money!

We do 10 of exercise "A" then 9, then 8 and so on. The start again with 10 of "B" and so on until we do all 8 exercises. She will mix them up throughout the week because I have to leave class early to get ready for work. But at least I get some exercise in for the day.

The last 2 months of last year I was doing the Insanity workout 3 days a week. I go to a fitness center at 5:30 am and get in a half hour before I have to come in to work. I am doing whatever the instructor does, and she does a pyramid type workout.
