I just changed my computer to a netbook so I can use it in the car/on vacation. To make up the $50/month data charge contract I had to take out, I changed my phone to a "Go Phone" and reduced my contract price of $75-$90 down to only $40 max. My husband's cell phone had a $30/month contract and I got him an $8/month plan instead.
However, I had to get some new software for the netbook and a new printer, the old wouldn't work with the operating system, etc. so the first month or two's costs are higher for everything but, over time, I think it will save money and work better for me.
