I had my dentist checkup and need three crowns ($1200 each) but am not in the "mood" to spend that kind of money; made an appointment to do the first one next March. I'm also trying to get DH to buy a sleep number bed but he's not in the mood for that kind of money spending.

both. it is necessary to buy for yourself and to make healthy choices in doing so.

I don't either; I don't have room for the one I have. I'm going to start using it again though. I want to get walking but this weird weather; next week I have a Mother's Day party to put on on Saturday and this week I'll be cleaning and getting ready for that. I have stuff for my veggie garden but haven't planted it; first have to get the weeds out of the garden. Maybe I'll do that today/this weekend. No excuse not to be able to get some exercise going this week!

We went to Target and I got a nice "Swiss" suitcase with wheels; bright red (might be hard to lose? :-) and Scott found a bulb for the fluorescent light but it turned out to be too "wide" so we went out to Denny's for breakfast this morning and then to Home Depot and he got a correct one.

We got our UN International Driver's Documents in the mail, they're kind of interesting; lots of things are coming together!

We were awakened in the middle of the night by a bright, blinking light; like someone had driven a car into the living room downstairs and left the blinker on, LOL. DH went down to investigate and it was one of the little fluorescent bars in the under-cabinet light in the kitchen going bad. So, he took it out this morning and was thinking of going to get another, this rainy day.

I want to get a larger suitcase than I have and one with wheels to go to London; mine hefts over my shoulder and as "comfortable" as that is, I'm getting of an age and with my knee, don't think that's a good idea for all the standing and stuff one might have to do; I use to pride myself on making it feel like a backpack (but it's not, it's actually quite large but wholly soft) and like I was just a good little sherpa, LOL.

We bought it for my birthday while we were on our honeymoon, back in 1989 and apparently I was younger then (and weighed 80 pounds less). So, here's to myself and my health on this trip!

For awhile now, whenever I use my nutrition tracker I literally track nutrition; worry about the potassium to sodium balance, magnesium to calcium, etc. I recently decided to cut out the extra calcium I was getting in my milk, I've never had trouble with bones/calcium in the tests I've had and going with the media take on get-more, more-is-always-better, can cause other nutrients to get out of whack.

Funny that I worry about my thyroid pill making it so what little hormone my thyroid does produce might stop being produced because of the pill and how I don't particularly want that to happen. I know when I take vitamins I might feel better for a day or two but then there are other side effects or odd feelings/problems that creep in over a week. I'm back to taking my vitamin only every few days or so, not daily. I know if you increase calcium you have to increase magnesium but doctors have been ignoring that and nowhere does the media or food manufacturers take that into account. So, I'm going to back off from most "functional" foods (still buy Omega-3 enhanced eggs; my husband doesn't eat fish or other foods with Omega-3's but does eat eggs daily) and start thinking about what I am eating based on what I want to achieve for myself, nutritionally.

I think concentrating on nutrition rather than weight loss might help me lose weight as well as feel better.

Move to a smaller space :-) I don't have much room to store stuff and now my one bookshelf where I store my canned goods is full of beans because I haven't made the bean salad I have been prepared to make for a month now:

Sweet and Sour Bean Salad
Prep: 15 min, Cook: 10 min, plus refrigeration time.

For 4 servings:

1/4 lb. green beans, ends trimmed, cut into 2 inch pieces
1/4 cup plus 2 Tbs. apricot preserves
2 Tbs. cider vinegar
3/4 tsp. sugar
1/4 lb. canned black beans, rinsed and drained
1/4 lb. canned Great Northern beans, rinsed and drained
1/4 lb. canned wax beans, rinsed and drained
1/4 lb. canned red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1/4 small red onion, thinly sliced

Place green beans in a steamer basket over boiling water. cover pan and steam 8-10 minutes or until just tender. Drain beans. Mix next 3 ingredients in a bowl with a wire whisk or fork. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Add remaining ingredients to preserves mixture. Stir in green beans and toss. Cover and refrigerate bean salad at least 6 hours or overnight for flavors to meld.

Per serving: calories 174, fat 0.4g, 2% calories from fat, cholesterol 0mg, protein 6.6g, carbohydrates 38.9g, fiber 6.8g, sugar 22.6g, sodium 70mg, diet points 2.7 (whatever the heck diet points are? :-)

right now I am working on cutting back on stuff I buy every day..you would think I had lived through the depression the way I stock up on food and its not necessary.. I could live out of my cabinets for a month except for bread and milk and have been trying to do more of that very thing.. its getting better but still have a ways to go yet..

I was going to get back with the wii, give it a try once more and "memorize" the sequence of button pushing and disk inserting on two remotes to get it to work smoothly but ran out of time before the convention.

I did try my Leslie Sansone DVD and decided I don't care for it; I wasn't doing the same thing so had to start at the beginning over and over and that got lame the 3rd or 4th try. I decided I can easily put on my own music and "dance"/walk in place (but getting me to do it might take a bit of doing :-)

I'm still working with my pedometer; if nothing else it's "there" everyday in my pocket and keeps me aware of my body and how much/litter I'm moving it. I have a container of small exercise things; balls, weights, resistance bands, DVDs, etc. and it's under a table across from me. I need to work with those things or get rid of them at the yard sale this weekend.

I'm saving spare change, my money I'll make at the yard sale, etc. and want to buy a netbook so I can have internet anywhere. Maybe I'll rethink that save toward something more "active".

I spend money on myself health related when its absolutely necessary. I had bough cheap pedometers but could never get them to count on track. I did buy a wii as a christmas present to myself last year, I haven't been using it lately though.

A mind is a terrible thing to waste and so is money

I bought a $120 blood pressure monitor with computer software and just followed that by getting a $60 pedometer that uses the same software. I'm hoping I can use them together to affect my health.

I have a wii/Fit too, that I have only used 3-4 times. That was a $300 Christmas combination. Do you spend money on exercise equipment or other things for yourself and get your money's worth or not?
