I'm training now for the Mountain Maryland Half Marathon on April 18. 6.5 miles up the mountain, and then 6.6 back down. I enjoyed the race last year and hope to have another good experience this year.
Hi everyone! I'm new to this team:) I love it so far. I'm running my first 5k on December 13 on the Backlots of universal studies Hollywood. Then I have a half marathon scheduled for March 27 of next year and the rock n roll marathon in San Diego June 6th...Whew! Lots and lots of hardwork!

ANN increase at your own pace..everyone is differant..if your leggs or body get to sore then back off a little or take a day or two off..i push and push myself all the time tring to beet my last time..do not forget to do some hill work it will help your build your endorance up and your legs and abs.
my uncle you help me says running is a btch and will always will be if it doesnt hurt you just jog. but a log jog can hurt if lots of hills..but you get the picture i think. a running body can also help a little.good luck keep up the good work
At what rate should I be increasing my mileage? Should I continue doing the same mileage until it is relatively easy and then increase or should I increase on a schedule, like every two weeks. And how much should I increase by, a half mile, a mile? Thanks, any recommendations would be appreciated.
congrat to all out to do the 1/2 marthon..i think they are the best..just far enough to get you tired and burns lots of cals but not so bad that you hurt for days..myself i have a running buddy we try to push each other, also i keep thinking about things to get my mine off the running at the uncomfortable spot...good luck keep up the good work.. i been running for 13 months and weight 290lbs and smoke three packs of cigs a day..so far i ran 1 marthon ,three halfs, several 10k and 5k and 1 15k..
Hello all, I am so new at running it's not even funny. I started last August. I ran through november, got up to running my 3 mile route all the way through. Then it got cold out, I BADLY twisted my ankle at a wedding (think, air cast) and then this June began again. I'm up to 3.5 miles and after completing that, realized I could pretty much do anything. My goal is to run the Des Moines 1/2 marathon next year (2010) and I want to get started. I've never done the running thing before, so it's all new!
I don't win races, but I always cross the finish line. I'm not fast, but I try my best to become faster. I don't have sports endorsements or earn a paycheck, but that doesn't stop me from running. My pace does not define me. Just because "professional" does not precede "athlete" in describing me doesn't make my running any less valuable. I am an everyday athlete; leading a normal life, but with big goals and dreams. I am an athlete. I am a runner. (runzoerun.com)
Hey...so I'm training for a half in October, and I just started week 7 of 16 on the RW training plan. So far, so good...except for my left knee. It started hurting yesterday. :( Anyone have any thoughts? Also, if anyone can tell me how to make speedwork more entertaining....haha.... :)

I just did my longest run to date....8.56 miles! I was supposed to do 9 miles (I do not have a gps~so, I guessed 1/2 mile short...bummer. I did it in 2:11. 8.5 miles is a long ways :-) (I did take a bathroom break and a few drink stops). I am going to do my second 5k race this weekend. Amybobamy1~I to want my 5k time under 30! I hope I break last pr 39:16. How are your long runs going?
Hey. I started the c25k program in November last year, and ran my first 5k race on Valentine's Day this year. I was HOOKED! I love it. So many people wanting to do the same thing. No uglyness ever! Everyone soo friendly and supportive. I have run in about 10 races. I have them posted on my page and my finishing times. I am trying to get a 5k in under 30 minutes. I am so close, but not there yet! I ran my first 8k yesterday. I finished in 52.32. I was happy to finish in under my goal of 60 minutes. I was also very happy to not have had to stop and walk any! YEAH! I post all of my 1/2 training program progress on my page. Well, some is on my page, the rest is in blog form in order to keep my page from getting sooo long. You can check out what I am doing there. You are way ahead of me. My long run this week is 6 miles. Which will be interesting, seeing how yesterday was my first 5 miles! You are doing fantastic! Keep it up! All my races for the summer are 5k's. There is no other option. But in Sept. and October, there are 10k's and 15k's and I hope to do my 1/2 in October. There is also one in Dec. I will have to see what works out then. I trying to get through the hot, humid, mississippi summer right now!

sounds like we can "train" together....I'll post my training here...I am doing the samething I am on week week 5 and I too have allowed for repeat weeks (esp on vacations~or extreem heat) Amybobamy1, I am sure you are going to do fine...how long have you been running? Me, 5 months...I love the longer runs...(longest run yet 8m.) Have you ran a 5k yet? I am running on Sat....I wanted to do a 10k..none were here
I am training for a 1/2 in October. It is a 10 week plan, but I am allowing 15 weeks for any setbacks that may throw me a curve ball! Tomorrow starts week 3. I ran 15 miles last week, and I think it is 18 this week. That increaasing my long runs by a mile each week seems SCARY!
