I make sure I get plenty of fiber each day.

I did ok. I've been eating Fiber One Granola Bars and they seem to be helping.

reporting on on this challange.

I averaged 33.5 grams of fiber per day. (and I forgot to log in dinner one day so it could have been higher) Only one day out of the week did I really have a low amount of fiber at 18 grams.

how did everybody else do?

I just came across this while I was looking around on the main SP page:

This was in the "ASK THE EXPERT" section, if I remember right

What are some ways to get extra fiber in my diet, since I never seem to get enough?

Check out this list of high fiber foods. Just 1-2 changes in your daily habits can really increase your fiber intake. Remember to increase fiber slowly over time, allowing your body to adjust, and drink more fluid, especially water. Fiber acts like a sponge. It will absorb the water, adding bulk to your stool, making it softer and easier to eliminate from the body.

7 grams or more of FIBER
All Bran Cereal 1/3 cup
Fiber One Cereal 1/2 cup
Butter beans 1/2 cup
Green northern beans 1/2 cup
Kidney beans 1/2cup
Navy beans 1/2 cup

5-6 grams of FIBER
Raisin Bran Cereal 3/4 cup
Bran Flakes 3/4 cup
Brussels sprouts 1/2 cup
Turnips 1/2 cup
Black beans 1/2 cup
Lentils 1/2 cup
Pinto beans 1/2 cup

2-4 grams of FIBER
Grits 1 cup
Oatmeal 3/4 cup
Popcorn 3 cups
Pumpernickel bread 1 slice
Rye bread 1 slice
Apple 1
Apricots 4
Orange 1
Pears 1/2 large
Plums 2
Prunes, dried 4
Strawberries 1 cup
Broccoli 1/2 cup
Carrots 1
Green beans 1/2 cup
Lima beans 1/2 cup

I, too, have a hard time getting enough fiber sometimes (and belive me, I know it when I don't!!).

a couple things I do are:
1) When I make a smoothie- usually as part of breakfast (but I haven't done it for a while), I will add some benefiber in with the rest of the ingredients.
2) A couple of times this week, I've added the flavorless Benefiber to my glass of Wyler's Lite (generic version of Crystal Light). I don't ever taste it, and it works wonders!!
3) I've also added Benefiber to my granola when I'm making it, as well as to other things I may cook.

In no way am I saying Benefiber is better than getting fiber through diet. I'm just saying it's something that is helpful for me.

ok, I changed my nutrition page to track fiber and its very interesting. I thought because I love fruit that I would easily get enough fiber. but its going to take a little more work than I thought. :)

This week, let's concentrate on getting the amount of fiber that Sparks recommends for us. I always seem to fall short of that goal.

Good luck!!!
