I had forgotten all about this.. but can report I did do things to pamper myself.. painted my toes a few times, gave myself a mani pedi once this month lol, colored my hair a darker color.. and wore make up several times.. something I hardly ever did before.. never took the time for me too much. Also I managed a hot bubble bath once this month with out the kiddos lol

God never promised A life without pain, Laughter without tears Or sun without rain. But He did promise Strength for the day, Comfort for the tears & light for the way, & for all who believe In His Heaven above He rewards their faith In His everlasting love.

AMEN!

The past couple of days I have been taking about 5 minutes to read my new book....not getting very far very fast in it. Oh, well. I will work on that.

Today I am going to get dressed up and go have lunch with a girlfriend (minus kids). Whohoo!

Yesterday - I went to see my therapist for the last time. She always makes me feel good and she did a wonderful job of giving me tools to deal with my stress/worry issues.

For today.....I don't know what I am doing yet.

Okay....so I figured out something. I ordered 2 new books for myself. I love reading and hardly ever get a chance to take a few minutes to read. I ordered Dr. Weil's Spontaneous Happiness and Lisa Niemy Swayze's book Worth Fighting For: Love, Loss, and Moving Forward. I am looking forward to reading these.

I am thinking of my blogging as part of this challenge, since I am taking time
For myself, and collecting my thoughts. They might not always be interesting to read, but I like writing. I used to be good at it! Tonight I get a night to myself to kick off my mans vacation, so I'll be sure to enjoy myself!!

Today....I am downloading some of my music to my Zune and my flash drive. So I can sing and groove when I exercise or drive. Totally makes me feel good. Other drivers probably think I'm nuts...oh well. I'll never see those people again. My 19 year old son does this too in his car and he likes it because he makes other people smile. Fun stuff!

Ok, so this is silly to admit, but I'm just that lazy! I've added shaving my pits to my shower routine. I did get a primo-brand razor, and what a difference vs. the cheapos! I think I just might hate shaving a little less.

Today was a busy day with lots of traveling for my son's dr. appointment. So I had to keep it simple, I decided to wear the bracelet that my husband bought me for my birthday. I think it is pretty and it makes me feel girly to wear more jewelry than normal.

Today I painted my nails too! My 2 year old daughter was obsessed with them, "pretty, pretty!!"
So then I painted hers to, a feat of patience. Ended up finishing my pedicure yesterday, so now I have pretty fingers and toes, wahoo!

Lisa, I'm jealous! Glad you broke out the good stuff, I never even tried it on before. One day...

YAY!!! I love seeing everyone participate in this!! Today my unmentionables are well, a little more mentionable I guess LOL! I am happy to announce (and trust me this is something I never ever tell anyone) that I broke out the Victoria's Secret underwear. Okay I said it and I'm blushing! Is that a bad thing?

Way to go!!! on everyone's choices to start "finding themselves". I love seeing all the different ideas....sharing these ideas helps each other to see what we CAN do for ourselves.

Keep up the great work!!!!

I've been thinking about this challenge on and off all morning. Just logging onto this site, or tracking my food and planning to eat healthy for the day makes me feel good. I'm motivated to keep myself on track to do my exercise and drink the water.

But, then what to do to "find myself" today? I don't think so much in terms of the girly vanities. Though, I do have deferred maintenance I could perform! I've given thought to the things I will enjoy doing. One of them is writing, so I'm going to blog later on.

Since sparkpeople is somewhat based upon small steps, I'll devote 10 minutes each day to some of that deferred maintenance. Today, it'll be pedicure-ish. Whatever I can do in 10 minutes! For me that's a great jumping-off point.

I'm in too! What a challenging challenge for us SAHM. Just because we don't go out in the workplace doesn't mean we don't or can't dress up for even us!
I gave myself a manicure yesterday. I know how to do gel nails and I haven't done them since May 2011. I finally did them yesterday and they look pretty good if I do say so myself!! Tomorrow I will decorate them and put clear polish on them.

Lots of hurdles in my life right now. I'm getting through them slowly. I'm gonna make it!!!

Today, I saw my therapist. Not only does she help me with my stress...but it is about an hour of "ME" time. No one else is there and I don't have to worry about the kids. So at this very moment I feel wonderful!!!

I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT!!!!! OKAY I can't say that enough. It is so important for us to have an identity, and remember who we are! So I started yesterday with mine and as you read in the blog, I wore a pink shirt! It was the only one I have but it made me feel girly and pretty all day long!! Today I did something most of you would shutter at! I actually put on my wedding ring. I know I know, WHAT SHE DOES NOT WEAR HER RINGS!?! No I don't, reason being is my husband and I had ours tattooed on our fingers last year so we didn't have to wear rings all the time. Oh well today I'm wearing my ring, and I still love it just as much as the day he put it on my finger for the first time! I want to thank all you for doing this it means so much to me!!

My husband is great at encouraging the outward pretty, as are my 3 girls. The part I sometimes forget is to be the thinker and musician I was before I started all this mama business. For the new year I'm spending a few months thinking about how I'm going to pass the days when the youngest starts school. Reconnecting with my dreams helps me live the name I was born to.

What a great idea! I have always kept this notion in the back of my mind. I have never been a particularly feminine specimen, but think this needs to change soon! I've never been one to do my hair, or wear makeup, but that doesn't mean I can't do something to take care of myself and feel good each day! Somewhere in there I always intend to learn how to look pretty and girly, but pretty much put it off due to the perceived expense. Or, I'll be worth prettying up once I get to a smaller size. I need this challenge!!!!

I actually already did mine today. I took ten minutes to put lotion on myself, my skin gets so dry in the winter! Plus it just feels good, like I'm pampering myself for a litttle while.

Here is a blog from LISADHARPER1. She says so many things that I think most, if not all of us, feel about being Stay At Home Mom's. I would like to make this a Challenge for the month of January....to make time for ourselves. This will make us better Mom's, Wives, etc.

Read this blog and then come back to this post each day and tell us what you did that day to be the person you were meant to be....more than a Mom, Wife, Caregiver, etc. What did you do to find you today?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Being a stay at home mom is something I consider as a blessing. Sure I could put that college degree to use and "work" for a living, but right now I don't have to. I don't have to worry about what TV shows my kids are watching, if they have a jacket on while playing outside, or who is getting them on or off the bus. It's ME that does all of those things. I try to keep the house tidy and presentable in case of the unexpected visitor, but I know it doesn't always happen that way. As I type this I have dirty dishes in my sink, laundry waiting to be done, and a floor in dire need of a sweeping. My husband never has to worry about where I'm at, what's for dinner, or if he has clean underwear. My backyard looks like its very own park with a swing set, trampoline, and tire swing; and lets not even mention my living room. The room of all rooms that houses most of the daily activities for a 4 year old and 2 year old little boys. I cook the meals, wash the clothes, clean the house, and raise my children; and yes I do it mostly on my own. I don't ask for help much and usually I'm to proud to admit defeat. However with this glorious job that I feel I am blessed with comes some drawbacks. My weight isn't where I want it, my body looks funny, I haven't had my haircut in months, and I'm pretty sure my wardrobe is seriously out of date. Then I start wondering why is it this way, where did things change? When did I become one step away from a "What Not To Wear" special or worse one step away from being the old cat lady after my kids have moved on? (Okay honestly the cat lady thing would never happen, I am NOT a cat person!!) I've duelled upon my appearance since I gave birth the first time! I've researched homemaking, and though not perfected it I work hard at it. Then I realized something, I put all my time in my home and my family that as so many of us do I forgot about me. I forgot that my birth certificate does not read Mommy or Honey. It says Lisa, the name my parents chose for me some 29 years ago. I was Lisa long before I was a mom or a wife, and I will be Lisa on my tombstone one day. One of my low points is that I don't put forth the effort for me, and I don't take time to actually look at myself in the mirror with out pointing out the bad things. When was the last time I looked in a mirror and said wow I have pretty eyes, when was the last time you looked in the mirror and realized your beauty beneath the fat, or wrinkles, or new gray hairs? This year I decided to challenge myself to be better, and I'm now inviting you to challenge it with me. If you read this, pass it on to those who need it. Remind yourself if no one else will, that you are someone other than Mommy. All I'm asking is that when you wake up in the morning after you change those diapers or get those babies off to school, take a moment to look in the mirror and enjoy what you see. Then do something little that you feel would make you be a little more like a woman than you normally would do. This could be something as simple as brushing your teeth first, or putting on an outfit instead of those sweats. I once said I had no one to dress for when I was at home then today I walked out of my room in a pink T-shirt and my 4 year old looked it my with those HUGE brown eyes with the longest eye lashes you have ever seen and said "Wow Mommy you look pretty! I think your the prettiest Mommy ever!" My heart smiled, I then knew I have someone to look nice for, my babies are watching and they see a happy pretty Mommy and that makes them happy. So please join me and let me know how it goes, maybe by the time we bring in 2013 we will all be taking more time for ourselves and realizing our potential not just as Mommy or Honey, but also with that name that are parents gave us long long ago.
