I am totally convinced that there is something in it .....
Everytime I get into junck food I start craving it where as if I resist it I don't even want it after a while....
it is so fascinating

That's an interesting idea. I wonder if there's something to that...

Really dropped the ball today in the chocolate area however plan on doing much better tomorrow....
I read somewhere recently that the more junk we feed in the more the body craves it....am just going to have to be strong and not give in so the body will start craving good foods.....

trust your day tomorrow is much better

Morning everyone, hope your having a great start to your day :) good to know about the hot chips not being part of the C list, don't worry about your fails with the weekend you've done so well already so one or two days isn't going to be too horrific :)

I've been really good to my own surprise and haven't been tempted enough yet to cave so that's all good :)

Thanks for the travel tips :)

Well actually, unless you want to include those yourself, they aren't in my original C-list. I meant only the Bluebird kind of chips, not the fries kind of chips. :)

I failed the weekend. So bored ... rained out in Wellington with nothing to do but sit in my hotel room and read my book. I popped down to the supermarket and came back with a bag of chips. Did avoid chocolate as well though, which was tempting! And also on the conference day there was copious food on offer and managed to have a fairly sensible sized lunch and not go back for seconds.

Oh, Christmas Day itself is not counted! The challenge ends on the 24th. Couldn't exclude that day, that would be mean!

WW for your big travel ... um, just try to make mostly healthy choices, and know that the walking around and sightseeing you're doing and getting around the parks is probably working off a good deal of what you do choose to take in. I believe the food options in those parks are all horrific, so there isn't much choice of finding a healthy option.

Afternoon everyone :) how is it all going for you all? How did the weekend go were you able to resist the C's? I have a confession the Santa Parade failed me or I failed it lol either way I ate a carton of hot chips so I'm starting a fresh as of today :) Hope you were all a lot stronger than I was :)

Me again :)

Forgot to say that if I had a vending machine with all those goodies in it I'd be bad very very bad. So your doing awesomely well to avoid the in your face temptations and as for the jet planes just pretend it's another C word then you won't be tempted into getting those lol

Good morning :)

So far so good, no C foods and no temptations though in saying that today were off to the Santa Parade and I suspect there will be many C temptations that I'll have to try to avoid, was thinking of packing a lunch but will have 3 kids with me a large camera and 4 water bottles to cater for everyone. I'm not good on taking a big bag to cater for everything so am not sure what I'll do at this stage. I will head out with the notion stuck in my brain ((NO C FOOD)) ha ha ha wish me luck :)

Does this challenge include Xmas day itself? you know when you visit relatives that they will have plates out prior to the main meals that will include a lot of C food ?

Good luck with your away time Lyn will be thinking about you while your away. We have a big trip planned for next year in May and for two weeks, going to be doing the LA and San Diego trip, Disneyland, universal studios, sea world, San Diego Zoo etc.. but boy am I already panicking about the holiday and putting weight back on during that two weeks. I do know that one of the hotels were staying at have a gym so I'll be hopefully with enough energy at the end of the days to get on a treadmill. I know were going to be on our feet all day every day were there but you know how the food is over there it's every where its in your face literally lol so the temptations will be like an explosion. Any tips???

Have a great day everyone :)

WooHoo...you are so lucky with the jet planes in the food machine....just designed for you.....lol

It is more difficult when one is away....
I am away on Monday and am not sure what kind of choices I am going to have....
I have made it known that I am vegan so hopefully that will be easy for me....

I have done well today with no chocolate, chips or cookies.......and believing for another good day tomorrow.....

Yes, it's easy to mindlessly just put whatever's handy into the gob-hole.

D'you know what I discovered? The food machine at works stocks chocolate, chips and cookies and ... a small bag of jet planes. That's the one single item in it that's not chocolate, chips or cookies!

I am going out of town for 2 days tomorrow, so that will be harder. I won't always have access to choices. However, I hope to be able to avoid the 3C's.

I so totally know.....
ug...
I think what this challenge is showing me is the fact that i just snacked on things without realizing what i was doing and now I have become aware of it all...
It will certainly focus me about what i am actually stuffing in and I will be an expert at it all come Christmas.....

Welcome Wiggy! :)

Lyn, come on, there's more than enough wiggle room to still have wine and snacks with a friend without breaking this challenge. Cheese and crackers, nuts, sweets, dried fruit, all snack foods that are not 'banned'. If you find yourself thinking you "must" have the C-foods, you need more imagination!

Five days in and no cookies - that is spectacular for me! I totally love the Mrs Higgins cookies, and there's been some in the machine at work all week. Ensuring I bring no cash has helped, although yesterday I took some and did not spend it on that! :) Yay me!

Hi I am another that can join in on this if it's still going? I am terrible when it comes to Chips they are my biggest downfall. Since starting my new life style I have cheated on a few little bags of chippies now and again - ((Chicken Chips Bluebird)) arrrr such delicious taste yet so very very bad so not fair. But for the past 3 weeks I have had only one of those small packets and I blame Subway since it was on the counter begging for me to buy and eat it lol I'll join in with you guys and make that pledge to stay off of the C foods :)

Great job! Me too, although I wouldn't say I've necessarily faced temptation and walked away from it - have not been tempted.

I even, almost inexplicably, have no diet coke in the house. There's some in the garage, but I don't feel the need to go get it. I'm terribly addicted, so this is ... interesting. To say the least.

LOL, oh that's a terrible start!

Did I do that to you? When I see an ad for Maccas, say, I get the urge to have Maccas and usually end up doing so within a few days. Good thing I don't watch many ads!

Great Lyn! So how'd you go today?

I have had none of them ... sort of. My brand of choice muesli bar is a "raspberry and white chocolate" flavour - I've just realised! I'm not going to hold onto them till after chrismas, but I will look for a non-choccie flavour as soon as this box has emptied. At least it's not like eating a block of Cadbury's! :)

I am trying to restrict my junk food addictions a little by opting out of some C-foods until Christmas. Would you like to join me?

No cookies, no chocolate, no chips (the Bluebird/Eta kind).

(Carrots, cucumber, and capsicum are all okay - it's a limited list of c-foods, not all c-foods.)

If you join in, feel free to add other C-foods you think we could try to avoid for six weeks! :)

This way I feel that I won't be entirely deprived. If I totally feel like some junk food, I can have nuts, lollies or mints or something to provide the hand-to-mouth sensations. If I want dessert when we're out somewhere I can have an apple crumble, or pav, or even ice-cream (starts with i not c - trust me on that!). "Lifestyle" is about having the sweets and treats we like - in moderation. My trigger foods are mostly cookies and chips, so this will be more of a focus on reduction than on entirely elimination of 'all things unhealthy'.

Anyone else in for the game? There is a six week period between now and Christmas, and on the 25th all C-foods are open again. If you're not celebrating Christmas think of it as merely a six-week challenge ending on the 24th.
