Another way to track distance is on Yellow pages maps you type in where you start and where you finish and it gives you directions as well as the distance travelled. emoticon

did the city to surf in christchurch today, 12km in 2.5hours, not bad for first effort. 769 calories burnt. then tonight I walk the dog, another 121 calories. No wonder I have eaten, slept, bathed, eaten, eaten and slept....

biked to the gym - 60 minutes, 20 mins treadmill with running. 15 minutes rowing, 15 minutes stair stepper
It is interesting to ponder that I have to look forward to increasing intensity of exercise to continue to lose weight. My life will have to be managed with regard to time management.

Good morning I just found the most amazing site on sp. When I walk or bike Im never sure how far Ive gone Ive tried pedemeters but they arent very good sometimes and I can never work out how fast I walked now in the fitness area they have maps and you track where youve walked and it works all that out for you. Ive actually been walking further than I thought and faster than I thought. Its great.

Walked round the garden this morning. My goal is 15 mins a day right now, plus the long way round to the loo. 24 steps instead of 8.

I feel so pleased with this. It may not seem much, but to me it is great. Every little counts. And all this water sure makes the loo a frequent companion.

Yes Im hoping that maybe Im shaping up if not loosing on the scale. Im going to try and get out in the mornings and get my walking in. I walked for an hour and played tennis for an hour yesterday and did that in the morning so I guess I will see what happens when I weigh in next sat

Congrats on not putting on the weight. You make me tired just thinking about how much you did today. I was excited today I went for a walk for an hour nearly to day with a HILL++ in it and I coped an recovered really well.

Went to karaki for big walk, mown lawns and took dog for another walk. Nearly two hours today of activity. At least I didn't put anything on at camp like I thought that I would, so now its back to walking to work and getting ready for city to surf 12km walk.

Hay Kiwi. I do my exercise in the a.m. then it is out of the way and it gives the energy for the day.
Hay I have lost not weight but lots of inches and wondered even tho you haven't lost weight if you are still losing inches? I heard that that is also important.

Evidently if you exercise in the morning it speeds up your metabolism for the day.I am NOT a morning person so I cannot verify that for you. I go to the gym after work.

wow its been ages since I last came in here to post. Ive been on another site and it just didnt do anything for me. I actually live in the states and they have a pill here called ALLI it just cuts your fat intake and when you buy the pill they have a site you can go to but I dont think its working for me. So I came back, Im eating right, Im excercising a lot. But I cant get under the 170 mark. I know the older you get the harder it is. What can I do to speed up my metabolism emoticon

Well, back from camp, going to bed soon, the young people were pretty good, the hot pools relaxing and the food...overdid it...me cook it, me eat it including yummy saralee deserts etc.
So now it is time to go back to eating normally, i hope to go to the gym tomorrow morning as it is a day in lieu for me, and again on saturday, with my 50 minute walk on sunday...mmmm... maybe all those calories over the last 3 days will disappear...

Hi I am new and I can relate to the exercise thing. I walk 30 mins most days and have just started strength stuff Mon, Wed and Fri. Just 20 mins with stretches incl. It is not a lot but all I can manage before work. Once a week I would like to go and do stuff in the local pool as a treat after work.
It is hard work and this a.m. my muscles were stiff after no excise for 3 days.

Going to camp with the course, up to hanmer for 3 days, plenty of exercise planned, forest bike riding, walk up to a waterfall, mini golf and of course hot pooling, but I aim to swim some laps first... See ya later in the week.

I took the course kids to the gym wed/thurs and did a little of the exercises too, as they get more familiar will be able to do more for me...afterall it's not about them...hehe..and walked 3 times this week for 50 minutes along with the dog walks. So not bad. Trousers are getting too big, threatening to fall off...perish the thought. Will have to get some new smaller ones me thinks.

Friday was a no go day.
Today though, I made it to the gym for a slow and quiet start up for 1.15 hour, since being sick, takes a while to get back up there. It was a good slow wake up and roll on next week for more of a work out.

Rained this morning as left for work so took the bus, walked the dog.

I walked to work today, 50 minutes, after two weeks away from it. After 40 minutes I had enough but still walked to work. Won't take long to get back to normal level of fitness. Walking in the morning again, if it doesn't rain. Walked the dog too, so 80 minutes today walking.
Then off the wagon for dinner tonight, oh well, that is it for the week, no more food treats for me this week.

I did 10 minutes brisk walking tonight (with my 3 cats following). I didn't want to push myself too hard to start with as my heart was really pounding at 10 mins. I carried my 10 kilo cat for a couple of minutes too.

Can I also include housework? lol, lots of things in the house to do today so I was walking quite a bit inside too. Maybe I should get a pedometer to see exactly how much walking I am doing.

I also did 2 strength building excercises, had to stop there as I was finding it hard going.

I didnt work out as such BUT I did help set up our new swimming pool and went for a bit of a dip and I also purchased a skipping rope and gave it a go for a couple of seconds! lol too hot!. I wanna get back to having fun getting fit and I used to love skipping as a kid, I also want an adult hula hoop.. I reckon if I aim to do 5 minutes skipping and just go as hard as I can that will get the heart rate pumping.

I didnt work out last night but i really wanted to. The only reason I didnt was because I was sooo exhausted. I started my day having a fasting blood test and a hormone level blood test so they took like 6 vials of blood (I know not heaps but still leaves your body with blood regeneration to do), then I worked a 9 hour day, had a couple of hours of missed sleep from the night before and as soon as I got home I just kind of collapsed on the couch! Troy made sure I got up and had dinner etc and then I was out to it by 8:30 on the couch and moved to bed around 9:30pm. Woke up this morning still tired but even though I have another 9hour day I WILL WORK OUT TONIGHT!! Even if it's just my 20 minute workout.

Sorry I failed first night !!

I had a heavy day working on our camper trailer, sorting out tow-balls, getting it up for a WOF, then getting it all out & set up for an electrician to check the electrics this morning.
Today I've packed it all down again, but still have to change to a new gas bottle & change the fittings, so I've been out & about working, just not cardio excercise

I like to go for a walk everyday. But now I have to work late 2 nights a week, so I have started working around town looking at the shops between the time I meant to start tutoring my class and my other job. I feel better when I have gone for a walk or done some exercie. Well, that is done now for the other two. Keeping now, a track on what exactly is going in my mouth and it is great because I am more aware of what I am eating and when. The Energy I don't know what I meant to do there but I am slowly getting more

Im in.. im doing a similar thing with my husband. I know i've gone over on calories in today but I also did turbo jam and burned 250cals. Had a work meeting and need an early night but am baking some healthy muffins to keep me away from not so good things tomorrow everning!

I would like to be on this one.
My problem is not doing the strength training at home like I should so having to say that I did do it each night and proving it via how I look, carry myself and so forth...any other way?? will make me stick to it.
Keep me in the loop please ladies.

I forgot that Debs & I will be away a couple of nights this weekend as we are Caching Ashburton, so I won't be able to log-in those nights. But rest assured I will be doing the cardio with all that cycling !

I don't know about you but I have no problem with the first two Es but the last one is never easy to fulfill EVERY day.I am hoping this year to exercise for at least 15 minutes daily.This will be a huge challenge for me and I thought others might like to try too.
