SFRANCES I also gave up the pepsi with the meat and this is day 27th, still miss the pop,but i feel much better and i'm down by 14 pounds

I need to give up some of the soft drinks I have been drinking and drink more water. I get all the free drinks I want at work, so that does me in, but I am going to try to drink less soft drinks.

I am going to make a consciece effort to give up high fructose corn syrup...now I know this may be impossible to do totally, because most foods today have it, but, I am going to really check labels and make an effort to eliminate this as much as possible

I'm giving up meat for the whole month of january. the first day was the hardest, but i'm finding some veggies and fruit that i thought i would not eat very tastie.

I'm trying to give up tea... well, caffeine stuff in general. I'm finding it makes my heart race and I'm not sure how that is or could be affecting my bp.

I'm also striving to keep my sodium levels around 1000mg a day. So far so good.

(oh, and unheatlhy snacking is always a good thing to give up too.. *grin*)

last week I did great at not snacking on unhealthy snacks. So I'm giving up unhealthy snacking again this week. lost four pounds this week. emoticon

That's great!! Good luck with the coca cola as well. I myself am giving up on evening snacking. I did well for 5 days and then last night hubby had some peanut M&M's. I ate a handful of those. Sheesh, I did stop myself though I I wanted more and did not take any more. The big bag of them is sitting in the pantry right now and I am not going to touch them. I am not going to snack in the evening either! I will drink my water instead. Good luck everyone with your goals and on slowly giving up those things that hinder us on leading a healthy life style and maintaining or getting to a healthy weight.

I'm going to give up cheese. I've tried to do that twice in the recent past and failed miserably each week.

I'm approaching this week with a new determination, that even if it kills me, I will stick to what I'm supposed to be doing including my daily exercise in the morning!

It appears I have given up sleep!!! If it's not my dog waking me up 4 times during the night, it's my cat, or one of my kids! UGH!!

I gave up ground beef have been eating ground turkey instead. I don't see much of a difference in the taste.

I stopped eating ground beef about 11 years ago and I don't miss it and don't like the taste of it anymore. We use ground turkey instead.

Good for you!! I'm jealous! I would love to ride my bike to work, but there's no safe way to get there.

I am going to give up processed sweets this week. I'm at a plateau in the weight loss and know I need to cut that out and increase the exercise!

Well, I'm still working on giving up the processed food. On my days off I haven't had much time for anything, but cleaning and getting ready for my oldest daughter and her husband and my new grandbaby to come down for a visit. Hope to be able to do something about this after they leave or maybe while they are here.

I'm still working on get rid of the prepackaged foods. They are just so quick and easy. Maybe I should use my day off to make meals and freeze them so all I have to do is warm them up and eat them.

This week I'm giving up the cheese. I paid attention to it this past week and I put cheese on nearly everything! Wow!

Did fare so well last week giving up the coffee cream. I'm taking a tablespoon with me to work and measuring out the amount of cream I put in my coffee. I may just be better off to skip it all together and drink it black instead.

Great idea! What I'm giving up this week???

I am very much the same as you pook. Love my coffee mate and I use way too much! I will cut back on that, drink more green tea and seriously try to give up that cream. Yet this week the biggest thing I need to give up is night time eating. I am so bad with that. I have been making better choices as far as my evening snack, but really I must cut out that late night snack all together. It is going to be a challenge for me as my hubby is always snacking in the evening. Still, I must give it up!!

Good for you! I'm giving up flavored coffee cream... well coffee cream in general. When I drink my coffee black I only have one cup. When I use flavored creamer, I end up drinking about 2 or 3 and with the amount of cream I put in it takes each cup to about 400 calories! AGGGHHH!

I know when I use to follow my diet strictly and not cheat, I would loose weight much better, So I feel if I am accountable to my teammates of what I'm gonna give up I would be more successful.


I'm giving up the Ranch Dressing that I have started back using, and pouring it all over my plate.
