I cannot tolerate statins. I tried Red Rice Yeast but after three weeks on it, I had trouble with too much yeast in my system, so I had to stop that too. I have a lot of allergies so I may be not the standard to go by. I'm building up to take fish oil twice a day. And use flax on salads and rice.

I took lovastatin for 18 years then my new dr changed me over to crestor. It seemed ok but I am really achy he is away on holidays so I will talk to him about it when he gets back I sat in his office for 2 hours this morning just waiting for the other dr to refill my script figured I would wait and talk to my guy because the line up behind me was awful and the man on duty will be there forever

I didn't know that the flax seed was a blood thinner. I know the fish oil is. I take fish oil, garlic extract and niacin, as well as B12. I'll see what my numbers are like in 5 months. The last test was fairly good. If I can jst those those pesky triglycerides down...

I had to quit using the flax for the time being as it is a blood thinner. I got off it a few weeks before surgery but I still ended up with tremendous blood loss and ended up with 4 blood transfusions...I don't think it was all the flax but I blame part of it on that. I may try the fish oil but I am going to have my blood checked next week, then if I my cholesterol is still up, I will try some of the other remedies.

Try going through some of the older posts. Some people are using cholestoff, others red rice yeast and still others using other methods. I am supposed to take lovastatins. They make me achy and I really don't want to take them so I take one every other day, take fish oil, CoQ10 and eat flax. I go next week to get blood work done. I'll know then how it's working.
