My mom has been in the same boat. She wants to do this, but Spark offers so much that she ends up not doing any of it FOOD TRACKER is the best place to go for losing weight. If I don't have time for anything else I do that. That is when I lose my weight is when I keep track of that. I have now narrowed it down to about 3 teams that are pretty active that I keep up with. If that gets to be too much just stick around here so you can learn all you can about cholesterol. Those 2 things and you should be looking good for that doctor's appt. in May! We really do all wish each other the very best with all of this and you are included in that now! emoticon

Begin with Spark America and Merck Study. Then log in your food daily, it keeps track of the cholesterol numbers you are getting in your food. To see them, you will need to scroll down after you have your food in.

Water is very important for us. We may, and I do, require more than the 8 glasses a day. The link goes to a water calculator I use to see what I need for my current weight. Mt requirement has dropped 9 ounces due to weight loss. Yipee!

I appreciate your suggestion. I am a little freaked out I guess cause I am over 300 right now. The doctor has been trying to get me on drugs since 1 year ago.
You are right I hope that I can find out more about the drugs offered. especially before I see the doc in May.

Thank you again for the information and for the welcome into the group. It feels a bit overwhelming to me as there are so many posts. I don't know where to begin.

I'm going to try the Nature Made Cholest off, others use it and really like it and their results. I get all my Nature Made through Rite Aid as they are always having it buy 1 get 1 free. I also like the points incentive. 500 points for a $7.00 off coupon and the points rack up fast.

Jazzywafer - we are all in the position of having to make decisions that are life related. Not easy ones at that. Before you feel that you HAVE to do anything read some of these posts and chat with some others who have had experiences. I have little to offer, but hope. My chol. was 220 last summer, dr. wanted to recheck in 3 mo. and do meds if no change. I never went back. I intend to go this summer and see what happens, but I was in no rush since I am no where near ready to consider meds. The idea of being on them the rest of my life is more than I can stand and my life is too full to risk having days or weeks of the awful side effects. There are plenty of people on here who are on meds and plenty who aren't. The only thing we HAVE to do is educate ourselves and do what we feel is best. If you need any help in making that decision you have come to a great team of support!

Thank you for the nice welcome. Sorry I missed it I was checking a different page and there were no messages there.

So I was chatting my neice in Calgary Alberta. She has had high cholesterol since she was 23 when she found out. She suggested that if I can't get mine down then I have to go on drugs in a week. I see others here don't want to take the drugs. I resist that also. but if I want to life I guess I better do something about it, right. Thanks again for your welcomes. I joined another group here and I can hardly catch up with all the posts.

haha always nice to learn something new eh?
Actually according to what I read during the wee hours, United States is the only one that measures the way they do. Most or all other countries are using the metric measurement.

Hi again. Thank you for the welcome. This is a marvelous site. I found it awhile back but just snaffled a few wonderful recipes and got distracted for about 6 months. :) I needed to come here so that I would get up off my A and exercise a little. Okay I have been up all night and have figured it out.
It is now getting light out there.
My cholesterol total is 8.34 * 39=325.26
My Trigylcerides are 2.41*98=236.18
So now I see the docs concern. The tests have not separated my LDL from HDL. But the I am 3.15*39=122.85 over what I am supposed to be. If you read that webpage I sent the *18 is to calculate the glucose. The Cholesterol is *39. And the Tri is *98.

Wow I am so much smarter. I guess staying up all night is worth it all.

Doing your numbers x18 doesn't even put you in a danger zone for what doctors in the US are saying. Hum. I wonder what that means. We are told to keep it under 200 and would prefer to be under 180.

Anway - WELCOME to the team! I have learned a lot by being here and this is a very supportive group of people. Hope you enjoy!

Okay. I found this on the internet it tells the rest of the world how to compare our numbers to U.S.A. All we have to do is take our numbers and multiply by 18. This is an interesting article for anyone who is interested in the conversion and other tidbits.

I have had high C for about 2 years. Doc wants me to hit the pills. When I was at 6.3 she said I could not manage it without drugs. Now I am at 8.3. Could someone tell me if that is different from the American Chart. I am in Canada. I am asking because my results don't look like the ones I am seeing here.

Thank you
