That's quite interesting, because what about the scriptures that show us the Holy Spirit is within each Christian?
"He saved us, not because of righteous things we had
done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through
the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit" (Titus 3:5).
"Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit" (Acts 2:38).
"You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ" (Galatians 3: 26-27)...Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, "‘Abba, Father’" (Galatians 4:6).
I am curious about what your preacher might have meant, because these passages show the Holy Spirit is given to each person at baptism.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy
Spirit. -- Romans 15:13
